You two do spoil us with the Beautiful BC water ways bountiful smiling face’s of the three of your happy family. Ranger with his own Island dose not get any better. Thank you again for all you give all of us. Love Health and Wealth
Another great video of a beautiful trip! Love the additional drama of the paddle through the channel on the tide change! Great work! I’ll bet it made those prawns taste that much sweeter.😄😋
The work channel is an amazing place to go just up from Prince Rupert, especially in June and July when the pods of humpbacks are going through. At night you get to sit back, relax and listen to the whales breach as they make their way up the channel. Ive filmed quite a few videos in the Prince Rupert area and I always look forward to going back there.
Thanks for taking us along with you! So enjoyable watching your life "up north" Just purchased a "Ranger" Tug and hope to visit your area next summer. Maybe you could "colab" with other boat dog owners and make a "Boat Dog" calendar. Ollie on "Pivot" (Scho and Jo) and Ranger would make a great cruising couple! :-) Have a great week.
That would be so cute! We had a Rangertug for a few years! That’s where our dogs name came from haha! We loved it! We cruised around a lot and adventured. We decided to get Skookum now so we can work hard and prepare for a retirement life with her. But I do miss our tug!
Lowe Inlet is Beautiful. Last time there a big Westport was blocking the view of the waterfall. Never been into Baker. We looked at it but timing was wrong with the current. 😒
@@MVSKOOKUM1 current can be Scary in a Kayak. My wife got into some fast current and the only thing that prevented her from real trouble was that she was in our pedal Hobie and was also able to use a paddle.
@@MVSKOOKUM1 no not MVcelt, I’ve seen it, but we are looking at another boat… inside scoop of sort😊 hopefully we can get it without paying too much duty.. Did you guys import yours from the states?
Oh wow from Japan! That’s amazing! How fun would that be! We love the cruising guide Waggoner! It tells you so much h about bays, fuel stops and anchorages ! It’s my fav!
@@MVSKOOKUM1 love to catch up when we get that way for sure!! especially if you show us how to catch those prawns and Halibut like that big one you caught
Hello Skookum crew….Ranger included 🐾!! Want to say as a fairly new subscriber we love watching your videos! We are curious as to where you purchased your Nordhavn and why you choose that particular builder?
Hello! Thanks for watching our videos! We love Nordhavns because they are built to cross big seas! The Nordhavn40 set the world record for being the fastest production boat under 70feet to circumnavigate the globe like 20 years ago! We have a water maker, paravanes, the fuel tank holds 900 litres of diesel! I like it because it’s tough in rough seas too. It has a cruising range of 2,400 nautical miles! Plus we burn about 6-8 litres of diesel per hour 😀. We just like it so much
@@MVSKOOKUM1 Thank you for the info! We have been working construction at the foreshore in Prince Rupert and saw you guys go by on your trip. Love the Nordhavn’s ❤️ Do you have any recommendations on where to look for a used model?
Makes me cringe watching Derek fuel up. What are the prices like in Prince Rupert on average the price in lower BC are $2.32/per litre even with the marine discount for pleasure boats do the math that is a $2000.00 + bill for 1000 litres...just one of the cost of ownership I guess. What kind of a hourly burn rate do you manage to attain at normal cruise speeds? Would that fill up last you a extended length of time or multiple fill up per season. Perhaps a Q&A video in your blogging future about what a trawler such as your Nordhavn 40' cost to operate! "Tight Lines and smooth Seas"!
Yes the prices of fuel certainly effect the cruising for the summer. The Prices in Prince Rupert were good when we were there in May. I think we paid $1.75/ltr
At our normal cruising speed 5.5-6.5 knots we figure we burn around 6 litres of diesel! Not bad! Instead of doing huge fill ups.. we try to keep her full, and top her off. Then it’s not as painful! Lol. She does hold 900 litres of fuel. Gives us a 2,400 nautical mile range 😄
Dammit, had to go and make ANOTHER breakfast after watching that. Great vid, thank you. I dream of doing exactly what you do.
Lol we have to make peoples mouths water lol. 🍳. Thanks for watching our videos!!

Prawns and howley looked yummy, Congrats on that paddle out at of the lagoon…you earned your beer that run

Currently we haven’t found any on the market! Usually in the States! Yacht world usually advertises them. 😄
Great! We, too, cruise with our dogs. Noticed your inflatable kayak, can you pull a dog onto the kayak without ending up swimming with them?
Yes our kayak is very stable!
