Just FYI, Rogers isn't the only CC company that is downgrading for not spending $15k - PCF WE is the same (and has already downgraded numerous people - unlike Rogers)
I really liked this video, I think the other thing to consider with free cards is that you can have as many as you want and can use a card is a specific scenario for maximum points. Aka, use the Simplii card for restaurants, Tangerine for public transportation, and amex cashback for something you don't have another category for. Also to bundle up insurance, use the card that you need at the time for a specific insurance. PC WE has decent insurance. I'm a little worried the new minimum spend requirements annually will start to jeopardize this approach as it will be difficult to hit it when you're splitting spend by many cards. This may push us no fee people to going to annual fee cards. The other thing I don't know if you talk about is Apple pay or Google Pay compatibility. I refuse to use cards that don't have Google Pay
I've been using the Simplii card for restaurants for quite a while now. It's been solid. Just picked up the Tangerine World Mastercard recently to cover most of the other categories I need. I'm planning on getting the amex eventually
There is also a Brim strategy to get the highest tier card which is FYF, lots of insurance products and no foreign exchange fee and after one year downgrade to their lower tier which has no annual fee but sill has no foreign exchange fee.
Pc financial world elite master card, Triangle world elite master card, and the GOD of no fee Canadian credit cards..... SIMPLI Visa (4% cash back on restraunts) should be on this list.... All cards that Canadians should have and keep forever.
Ok, best part of my day so far.... seeing that you've already had 13k views on this video and you have 13k subscribers. You've hit a popular topic here!! Awesome job on all of your continued success!
Thanks for posting Ricky. Although I am dabbling in the annual fee cards these days my wife was excited about the no fee cards. Your videos are always helpful and high quality. Go Prince of Travel!
There might be fake ones out there but real one do exist contact *@DarkMarvin00* on *telegram* he is the real vendor, I got my cc with high balance from him yesterday 🙏
No mention of the Presidents Choice world elite mastercard? Honestly no annual fee, 45 points per dollar at shoppers drug mart, 30 points at loblaws owned stores, 20 pooints per dollar elsewhere. Has 7, 8 insurance offerings.
Agreed, I like this card as I go to Loblaws grocery stores mostly. They are also instituting minimum spend requirements to stay on the WE, so we'll see if I get kicked out. They also have good rewards at Esso or Mobil gas stations.
Hey Ricky, wondering if you would consider doing a best of points earned between visa and Amex? For example the best card for business supplies, Amex vs visa. The best card for eats and drinks, Amex vs visa. The best card for paying bills etc etc... I find a lot of places in Toronto don’t take Amex so knowing the next best visa to use would be very helpful. Thanks
Thanks for the suggestion Jay. Look out for a new feature on the website very soon to address these types of questions. I’ll also consider working it into a future video. Cheers
I am a blue collar flunkie, I am too busy busting my ass working to keep my head above water to worry about airmiles points. I just use a BMO cashback card, no fee no BS and 3% back on groceries.
I have the SimplyCash, TD Cashback and CIBC Student Visa (I was stupid with my selection especially TD because it was the only bank i was with at the age of 18 other than tangerine) got my first cc when i turned 18 deadass 3 mins after (im still 18 btw) turn in 19 in april, got 2 usa cc too
I have the following no annual fee cards which I use regularly: -Triangle World Elite (for grocery shopping and paying property taxes) -Simplii Visa (for eating out only whenever Cobalt is not accepted)
@@PrinceofTravel , oh that is right. I have not had the chance to use its road side assistance program (and hopefully I will never have to). Your video was good though. I still learned something new. Didn't know about CIBC having a no-annual fee aeroplan card. I might jump on it haha.
Downgraded from my Cobalt to SimplyCash no annual fee. Cobalt just didn't make sense since I wasn't eating out and spending as much on entertainment and foods.
That's a good question. I looked at my statement and I didn't get the 2% back on my Tangerine MasterCard at Costco even though it says grocery category. I believe they're in a wholesale category or something like that and you can't pick that with Tangerine. PC WE would at least give you 1% back in pc points.

Thanks for the awesome info as always Ricky! I recently called in to ask to downgrade the MBNA Alaska Mileage WE to MBNA Platinum Plus and they told me they could only switch it to the smart cash unfortunately. Not sure if anyone else is having that issue or know any way to go about it

I think I got it right actually - it’s just a roundabout way of describing the bonus. The Platinum Plus gives you 10,000 points plus 2x bonus points (on top of the usual 2x points, for a total of 4x) on the three categories up to $5,000 in the first three months. If you maximized that spending, you’d earn an extra 3 x 10,000 points = 30,000 points, for a total of 40,000 points. Not quite the most straightforward bonus to earn though.

The Simplii Visa has some high rates for restaurants too, if you spend a lot of money on that.
Yep, good complementary card to the Scotia infinite momentum

our main bank keeps increasing our limits but annoying little tangerine says no bueno twice.

Any update on the Amex platinum Annual Fee? I heard rumours about increasing the AF in the course of 2021...
I think those rumours were for the US Platinum Card. I'd be very surprised if they bumped up the annual fee further than $699 in Canada... 😬
I know I have been pronouncing Desjardins wrong, but man, I did not know I was like Completely wrong lol
Dezzz... jar... deans!
