Scott worked with Avi, the original bass before Matt joined, to deepen his voice. When Avi or now Matt takes the lead, Scott covers the bass part. So impressive!
There is a video out there that is hands down my favorite, PopSpring 2016, it is twice as long, but I promise, promise, promise that you’ll love every second of it. It’s 4 songs, 3 originals and a surprise that I just know will make you happier than you can imagine. The 2nd song (hit number 1 on billboard) is my favorite PTX original. The 3rd song will blow your mind. I promise we will watch the whole thing.
I'm enjoying your reactions! PTX is mind blowing lol. There sometimes isn't words to articulate how one feels about what they do. You just say, What?!? If music like this was a place, I'd move there tomorrow.
You need to check out one of the six home studio videos Kevin put out where he creates the whole song by himself using his cello, keyboard, drum pad and sings while looping the whole thing.
More recent work shows Scott working in his lower range, as well as Mitch. It may be something to do with maturing voices but there's lots at play. Matt is hanging out in his baritone more as well so they're flexing the creativity their insane ranges allows. Sound of Silence, The Prayer, O Holy Night are a couple of tracks to enjoy some lower Scott, some soulful Matt and some otherwordly Mitch. Kirsten and Kevin both also show extraordinary moments in these and hold beautiful tonal, harmonic and percussive structure for the other three throughout. Since they don't always have the 'money notes' it's easy to not notice how much they do for every track with their backing.
Memorizing it isn’t a huge deal for them. They sing like 20 songs in concert, a few always being at least one or two of these evolutions. If you watch this enough, you’ll kind of memorize it too 😂
Check out Pentatonix doing the Quincy Jones show of them doing Don't you worry/Save the world. If you want to see a PhD in Kevin's beatboxing and Avi's bass as well as Avi beatboxing and doing overtones.
You mentioned the difficulties of singing when singing down; in the first 3 of the "Evolution" videos, the Trio (Mitch, Scott, Kirstie) were all standing up, while Avi and Kevin were seated. This was the first of the Evolution videos where they were seated, and they kept that format for their Evolution of Ariane Grande video as well. I don't know why they changed the format like that, but my personal opinion is that those two were the latest of the Evolution videos, and perhaps they were both more experienced and more confident in their abilities to retain proper breath control even when sitting down. Performing while seated isn't anything particularly new for PTX, they've done it in a number of videos - Gold, Come Along, Havana, Perfect to name a few off the top of my head. Gold is another "live" video, where it was recorded directly from what they performed in the video, the others are all music videos, so they weren't "performing" directly, although even in their music videos they are singing along with the playback.
You really need to react to PTX Bohemian Rhapsody Live a recent version. Please, please, please th-cam.com/video/kI3-G16d7K0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xqqwOGEAarY2uJzo

I understand exactly what you mean. Sometimes I'll just yell an "ehhhh" cause that's the only way I can react. Music is truly a gift.
You've just experienced Scott's blue eyed soul
