You mentioned the difficulties of singing when singing down; in the first 3 of the "Evolution" videos, the Trio (Mitch, Scott, Kirstie) were all standing up, while Avi and Kevin were seated. This was the first of the Evolution videos where they were seated, and they kept that format for their Evolution of Ariane Grande video as well. I don't know why they changed the format like that, but my personal opinion is that those two were the latest of the Evolution videos, and perhaps they were both more experienced and more confident in their abilities to retain proper breath control even when sitting down. Performing while seated isn't anything particularly new for PTX, they've done it in a number of videos - Gold, Come Along, Havana, Perfect to name a few off the top of my head. Gold is another "live" video, where it was recorded directly from what they performed in the video, the others are all music videos, so they weren't "performing" directly, although even in their music videos they are singing along with the playback.

Love watching your reactions and subbed for lots more. You are so enthusiastic and informative. So much fun to watch. When you feel you have watched enough PTX to be curious about how these amazing folks created Pentatonix, I highly suggest watching their Sing Off performances from 2011. There are 12 performances, some good, some interesting, and some absolutely amazing. Their ages ranged from just graduated from high school (Mitch), completed one year of college (Kirstie and Scott), and two who had just graduated from college and were headed to Yale med school (Kevin) and (I think I remember this correctly) the San Francisco Opera (Avi). The judges comments are interesting and sometimes really funny. The arrangements they created were mind boggling, even then. And to top it all off, they only met as a full group the day before their audition for the show. It's just a miracle that we have them.

When you get a chance, you should listen to the all-girl a capella group Citizen Queen do Never Enough. You will freak!

First time viewer,last time viewer,too many pauses serves no purpose except to totally annoy the jesus out of everyone who has the misfortune to stumble on your channel and if that was your aim we'll done it was a huge success.now for pentatonic,I love their music video's but they truly are just average singing without all the production behind them,at least watching this I will know never to go see them live.

Scott worked with Avi, the original bass before Matt joined, to deepen his voice. When Avi or now Matt takes the lead, Scott covers the bass part. So impressive!

The song at around 7:00 is Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!! by Vengaboys (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vengaboys), they didn't last long but their song were quite energetic and happy.

IMO, Kevin's creative beatboxing is one of the things that makes Pentatonix stand out in the a capella field. Probably something to do with his being such a good musician, playing multiple instruments.

My favorite live concert video of this is from their 2022 Hollywood Bowl concert. They all sound great, it was professionally recorded for live stream, and they had a small choir that sang in the aisles on some songs, including this, for a little added volume in places. That concert was kind of a 10-year retrospective, and the whole thing sounded great.

I have this typed up for reactors that watch the official video. But since you mentioned how they paid homage to Queen, with all the little things, I thought you might enjoy this. You probably want to watch the official video, even just on your own, or in a reaction video. That is the only way you will understand some of these references. A few things, the couch represents in the early days of PTX, they did not have money to shoot their video’s, so they just sat on a couch in someone living room to record.The moving couch represents their journey. Now, when Brian May (now Sir Dr. Brian May) saw this the day after it was released, he liked it so much he shared it on all of his social media, with just one word “Enjoy”. That is high praise from Sir Dr. May. They worked on this on and off for about 5 years, until they thought they had an arrangement that did justice to the original. Mitch does not use the megaphone in real life, it was just a prop so people had something to look at that would draw their eyes where the group wanted them. When you see the night sky that was to pay homage to Brian May, who is now an astrophysics. The 4 shooting stars pay homage to the original., band members. At the end when they fall on the couch in a "cuddle pile", that is paying homage to the Sheer Heart Attack album cover.

Carol of the Bells (😔Unfortunately I don’t think the live BYUtv Christmas Under the Stars version is available anymore-it REALLY shows Mitch’s amphibious tendency to breathe through his skin) is a fun one to watch for breathing magic. I love your reactions. You should watch one of their originals: Love Again, Coffee in Bed, Sing, Happy Now (to name a few). Can You Feel the Love Tonight is also a stunner. Who am I kidding- everything they do is stellar. 😊

I love this live version. It's such a pleasure to be able to really see what everyone is doing! They have been performing this at most shows, often as an encore, since 2015, so I've seen it a couple of times live, and it's as epic as you might imaging. I think it has evolved to be even better than it was originally. Mitch, for instance, takes more liberties with the vocal timing, making it more loose and expressive, (as you pointed out) - things like that. And their vocals have all strengthened over time just in general, (as if that should have even been possible - but here we are, lol). I was excited to see you react to this one and it was a blast as usual!
