I love my Waza BD-2w. That’s a worthwhile upgrade over a paint job, though the 50th anniversary is testament to how ubiquitous and brilliant Boss pedals are.
@@averagejer The BD-2w has a switch with a Custom mode, more dynamic possibilities. I thought it was worth saving up for, and my experience proved me right! That chorus is great. Hope you get one soon!
@@crapmalls Interesting! I've never compared the original and the waza side by side, but there is a Standard setting on the waza that, I thought, was the original BD-2, and then the Custom setting gave more range. I was unaware of compression issues!
First time viewer - really like the simplicity of this review style. Straightforward, easy to compare and contrast sounds, easy to follow what you’re showing us too. Good work.
Been leaving this one on at unity gain to add a little hair to a clean channel in order to provide edge of breakup. It then stacks really well with your favourite OD's. A great low gain pedal that doesn't get muddy and still allows your amp's tone to remain.
I have a blues driver that I'm still playing for 27 yrs on my board. I have a Keeley modded as well but it still doesn't outshine the original. Level at 10, tone about 10 and the gain at 2....Gets the job done!
I love this pedal and it is the only one I have anymore for overdrive blues driven around. This along with my blues jr. Takes the jr to the next level. Just as if you bought a deluxe amp with channel switching. Awesome.
I’ve had a BD2 from 25 years ago, but I bought one of these anyway. Not sure if I just want to leave it in the box for my grandkids, or use it as a second BD2 on the pedalboard with different settings. One way to get AMAZING sound out of this pedal seems counterintuitive, but it works like a dream. Bring your guitar’s tone knob all the way down. Zero. Then, bring the BD2 tone knob all the way up, or most of the way up. Very Santana-esque, if your into that sound.
I have heard from some Japanese guys on youtube stated that the 50th SD1 uses different op-amp from the regular production. Don’t know if that is the same case for BD-1 tho
This pedal can be a pleasant boost and it plays well with others…you may want to try stacking it with other ODs before deciding to keep it off of your board!
in my experience the VERTEX Dynamic Distortion( Seafoam version) does the job better: it really intergrates /melts into other pedals while being VERY dynamic!! Try one!
Tone at zero is basically neutral tone on this pedal. Tone at 9 o’clock is a slight treble boost and tone at 12 o’clock is about where most pedals would max out. It’s a very trebly pedal and tone at 0 allowed the character of the gain to come through but not be too ice picky.

I haven’t gotten the chance to play the Waza BD-2w yet. The next Waza on my list is the chorus.

Ive got an old bd2. The waza seems more boosted and compressed than the old ones

@@astewart9410 yeah mine's old. Standard is probably the same as a normal new one. Mine has a slight bass cut

Awesome, thank you!
This demo was so relaxing and aesthetically pleasing to watch! Subscribed!
Thanks! Welcome aboard!
Cranking the tone back between 9 and 11 is generally the sweet spot with the ds-1 also
I love love love the emo guitar styling 💗
Hairstyles come and go, but the way you played guitar in your teens sticks with you forever.
Subscribed on the back of this. Great approach.
Awesome, thank you!
Nice video, and you have a very good touch on the guitar!
@@tipston3366 thanks!

I never tried the blues driver until recently and I was really surprised by how much gain it has.
Same here! About the only thing that is what I expected was the volume knob.

Yea baby
Come play guitar for a demo.

Good demo but it kinda irks me that the tone knob's set to ZERO all throughout.... I guess his Strat and Amp is very trebly?

Don't care for the pedal, but good demo!
Thanks Mike! Appreciate the compliment! It's definitely not going on my pedalboard... but I'll probably keep it around for something different.
