I love both of them for their own reasons, I do agree with you about it being freakier. The bosses were truly tense and terrifying and none of the bosses in the second game were really any threat except for the chainsaw blob chick(which you could completely skip anyways). I think I really enjoyed the exploration and more open world in two and the horror was more on point in the first. I really like both stories but I also really liked Ruvik. I was quite a fan of stefano in two but they ended his plot line relatively earlier and had no real direction with whom they wanted to be the antagonist in two. I could sit here all day writing about why I love both games honestly. It's easily my favorite horror series of all time(resident evil is a close second).
@@alexanderfreeman3406 did you play the dlc or read any of the field notes. Ruvik's motivation is kinda hidden within the lore in the game, which is kinda dumb regarding the main antagonist.
@@readifer I did play the DLC, it was terrible. Boring and buggy, and not to mention insulting that they would charge money to finish the story you already paid $60 for. As for Ruvik, he’s a completely milquetoast “disfigured villain” trope. He built STEM to bring back his sister, was betrayed and trapped in it, and now want to steal Leslie’s body to get out. It’s not bad, it’s just bland. As for what he actually does in the game, it’s a whole lot of sweet FA. He barely ever shows up, usually only when the developers couldn’t figure out how to transition to the next set piece. Then he just leaves, despite the fact that he controls STEM and could literally kill you by thinking it.
@@alexanderfreeman3406 that's all fair. I personally liked the kidman episodes of the dlc but i don't disagree with you at all that, that should have been in the base game to begin with. i just feel that when you put ruvik up next to the complete misdirection of any antagonist in the sequel that ruvik was at least "decent" when it comes to the second game i honestly enjoyed stefano and his joker-esque insanity and unpredictability all in the name of art. Then they kill him off and throw in this priest dude completely from left field. They just really didn't know what they wanted to do when it came to the sequel. I love the sequel from a videogame standpoint but i personally feel the story was stronger in the first game.
The Evil Within 1 is one of the most underrated games I ever played. It's basically Alan Wake, Resident Evil, and Silent Hill perfectly blended into 1 game. I played it on PC in 2022 and it still looked AMAZING, and I love how Anson Mount voiced the main character. Awesome game!
I think it’s perfectly rated. Not completely unknown but it’s a game you buy on sale unless you absolutely love horror games and need SOMETHING to play. It doesn’t capture half of the environmental or psychological horror of silent hill and the puzzles aren’t as good as RE or SH either. I don’t think you can go wrong with this game though, especially considering how bad most horror games are nowadays
Every once in a while I realize how long I've been following Indei for and just how beautifully he's transitioned his content. From Dark Souls top 10 lists to satire top 10 lists to *blank*souls. I'm still looking forward to The Trees of Elden Ring tho
I remember when he did top 10 stones or something and I was like, "Dude, is this really what you want your youtube career to be?". Feel kinda bad for calling him out like that, but he really has come a long way.
Honestly an amazing game. Got all the achievements in this game. Akumu mode was a wonderful challenge and felt amazing when the achievement popped.(took me 11 hrs)
I don't get why people would go through Akumu mode without upgrades, I went through it with guides to grab all upgrades and stuff, and even then, the parts with the gun toting enemies sucked so badly.
@@sxb2andtheotherguys I have mixed feelings about the Evil Within 2, as someone who has recently bought TEW1, which I have been wanting to play since it came out. From what I've seen, TEW2 a lot of merits but also a lot of draw backs, especially considering how deviated it was from the first entry, which is what compelled me to the series in the first place. I will happily admit that I liked the Stephano section of the game and *loved* anima side-quest, but I feel like the father theodore and myra sections fell a bit flat.
@@sxb2andtheotherguys The second game was a really underwhelming experience, to the point I actually hate it. We went from fast-paced action to rummaging through every trash can on the level while crawling on your knees all this time. In terms of gameplay it became a shitty TLOU clone with a very poor balance, in which no reward on the level was worth the resources spent on it. In particularly stupid cases, we received the same type of resources we spent to get the reward, but 2 times less. In terms of story I was facepalming hard every 2 minutes because of how the plot, narration and dialogues degraded. In the first game, design of the bosses and their gameplay functions were closely related to the story. The plot itself had a lot of intrigues, and there was this delight feeling when the intrigues were revealed, and you understand the idea behind the boss or location. In the second game, there are no intrigues (beside one with MC's wife and it was really underwhelming in the end), therefore, there is no delight from the reveal. Design of some bosses itself is not bad, but in general everything has been greatly simplified. The last drop was a dumb straightforward fanservice with the bosses of the first game and this attempt to squeeze out a tear from the player in the end (it didn't work).
I don't know it's kind of a setback from resident evil 6.. I didn't see any actual playground slide mechanics.. the ultimate in slide mechanics.. but you know modern games don't have those cool little things like player agency anymore.. shit you can't even lean left and right in the recent releases.. despite having a VR version that lets you LOL.. man, even this is is like night and day by comparison to a modern game.. still, 2014 and we are over the curve and down the slide.. the slide downward in standards! Screw your graphical fidelity.. give me player agency first.. the kind that used to be standardized in 2004 before regressing and flatlining then almost getting good and then just going right back.. it's like everybody complains about quick time events and yet modern games are essentially nothing but a quick Time event.. except instead of like an attempt at interactivity, you just hit a button in the context action for everything happens and nothing outside of it.. and that's if you have that context action LOL, I can safely say most of the resident evil modern games did not.. if anything it's like going back to the roots.. originally adventure puzzle games where entirely contact space with the full motion video 2D isometric etc.. now it's 3D, but it's the exact same context prompts that we had back in the days of fantasmagoria, just without you know the exciting novelty of the interaction LOL.. so usually just kind of to move the plot along.. hell on video consoles, the game even aims for you LOL.. since the controller design stagnated right about when they were about to you know actually make some headway.. as soon as the game started playing for you suddenly it was the exact same thing for 20 years... and even still we have resident evil 6 Max Payne 3 and and to a lesser extent this game.. also the Wolfenstein and riddick games that were you know designed by people that were actually trying to push the platforms, which probably comes from there inception in the demo days.. and then you know just not dropping all of their standards or at least improving on some and keeping the bare Bones of others, unlike their sister studio arcane which is just you know been this long and steady decline towards late stage cephalytic consillitis which is all the more tragic as they were previously still trying right up into the point where Collotonio left... But you could see with Dishonored, the way the hands were coming out of the side of the screen versus dark Messiah where everything just really felt like it was your actual body.. and the sword play was far more closer to user control, the environments tailored towards that.. then with prey, what should have been returned to form was the worst form, with a return or attempt at function.. and then with death loop they.. well they had a really good thing going and then they redid everything and made it about as bad as it possibly could have been if you were starting from where they had it pretty decent when those first trailers came out LOL and you know stripping out any of the melee interaction whatsoever LOL cuz it it didn't work with their invasion mode cuz that matters.. and then what was it.. latest release was that online generic shooter..? So that's that's yeah... I'll give tango some credit as far as interaction goes they were trying something different and they've always seemed to push in that direction often without success.. or at least full cohesion, and ghostwire Tokyo is definitely both a good sign that this is still a thing and a bad sign for the rest of everything but the triple a industry LOL.. just proving once again that even if you get to lick the frosting on your cake your mouth's going to get washed out with soap and the cake will be smushed in front of you and then salted and then had borax poured on it so that not even the ants would want it.. kind of interesting seven degrees Kevin Bacon given that arcane had previously pushed the draw symbol magic with their first title.. and yet we could have all of these things in one title and it wouldn't even be that hard to do.. as long as you didn't have a dual analog controller as your baseline sadly or an entire gaming population that is entirely from the in whole gaming experience a whole generation has completely grown up with the idea that the game is supposed to play itself and that's what makes it feel good.. the bungee effect.. even dark souls is a rhythm game, when you look at like the actual progressive direction in games like chivalry for melee.. But I do miss this late stage era where they were trying to actually have their cake and eat it too.. and there's there's a lot of successes that came out of this and whether you like this game or not as far as what it seems like they were trying to do that was successful, it just you know seem to not necessarily be what was fun or what people wanted.. which is I mean shit that's half the problem with a lot of really good games too LOL.. and if you look at resident evil 6 as a a too many things in one basket.. and if you looked at Max Payne 3 as okay we took that basket and we made a game around it.. it really bothers me that the the casualty of returning to a focused survival horror, with atmosphere.. happened to come at the expense of not playing a movie and pushed us back to 2001 controls.. it really does feel like gaslighting especially when we've had crisis or dark Messiah or fear.. I mean well look at crisis2 and fear 2... Once at the Apex or a shining example of player agency.... And their sequel tried to burn any bridge that connected them to that..... which in those cases it's a strange one because they were financially successful LOL I mean it's not that strange, it's just sad and pathetic.. but usually you could always make the claim oh it just wasn't you know financially viable like resident evil 6 was which I don't know if that's true or not I'm sure that game sold pretty well LOL but as far as the reaction goes it was fairly negative.. whereas crisis and fear are classics that are heralded as best-in-class examples LOL dark Messiah as well.. and.. I miss PC gaming that's all... And I miss that enclave of console games that actually we're still trying to be also in that development of game design as opposed to how to render a movie with the ultimate gaslight of pretending that the player is involved in making it happen.. You used to have both, now you have neither and it's not even in the indie scene anymore if anything that's.. I mean I've got hope and more hope for that than than the other but honestly as this becomes so normalized and like I said an entire generation grown up on it.. I don't think people even know where we were, in a lot of cases people don't even think it was a feature LOL.. it'd be amazed at how many people I see on stream that are just confused about default binds that they could change and probably should have looked at in the menu the first thing they did when they opened the game.. but it's like they're helpless if the control prompt doesn't come up and then they're upset if it's not the exact same thing that they've done before if they have to learn a new muscle memory or think a slightly different process and this is bad in every way for game design.
@@akagoku69420 yeah not lately, I kind of lost the ability to read just for pleasure you know.. especially when I switch to oled's since everything is digital nowadays, what's your point?
Love that The Evil Within is still talked about. Probably Shinji Mikami’s best work IMO. Just as action packed as RE4, but way more anxiety and stress inducing in the resources it gives you. The environments are also well done and the transitions are so well done. The way Mikami also took clear inspirations from all horror and classic horror films was so cool.
I actually liked this game better than the second one. Except for when they put you in small rooms with enemies that could kill you in one hit. Even if you were on the easiest difficulty. That was not fun.
@@sxb2andtheotherguys I thought the story and the horror was better in the first one. I also didn't really like the semi open world thing that they went with for the second game. I know that's an unpopular opinion though. The nostalgia I have for the first game probably also plays a role in my opinion of it.
i would have liked first game a lot more if there was less instant death stuff, way to many enemy was just kill and restart to the nearest checkpoint, like when the main antangint got turn into a enemy, he was so bullshit.
The 2nd game has a couple of problems that bring it down a notch for me. I think the weapon balance in the first game was better. Everything was useful/could be made useful. Meanwhile the 2nd game is a case of shotgun only cause everything else in too cost-ineffective to be usable. Additionally, the 2nd villain kinda comes out of no where, with almost no transition from the first. It was kinda a "Wait, what?" moment that felt out of place. Other than those points, I like it a lot. Almost as much as the first.
Yes that game is a masterpiece. The second game isn't as bad as people say either. Both are extremely fun but the first will always be the best. The sequel was great up until you fight Stephano...after that the game feels like it splits into two completely different games.
Reminds me of Far Cry 3, after you "kill" Vaas, it doesn't feel like you need to continue, Jason got all of his friends, and avenged his brother, sure he didn't know riley was alive but he was told he was dead and had no reason to assume different
Nah it's garbage, endless cutscenes and they tried to take story seriously .. big mistake. Gameplay, enemies, bosses, levels all much much worse than original.
Sebastian really is just a dude put in a crazy situation and he has NO idea how to react 😂Honestly my favorite protagonist in any horror game I've played.
I love the first game more than the second. The Evil Within is definitely one of my favorite horror games of all time, and I truly appreciate this video Indeimaus!!!☺❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@alexanderfreeman3406 that's crazy to hear! I love the first game and couldnt even finish the second. Something about the first felt so ps2 era in the very best ways and the sequel felt too modern
This is satire right? Like, The Evil Within was fucking garbage full of so many cliches and tropes and just generally terrible decisions... clunky, gimmicky, generic... the game is a piece of trash and i'm glad the series got canned because it's just derivative shit ripping off much better IPs and story ideas.
One the of main criticisms of it when it first came out was “This just feels like RE4.” And even back then my response to that criticism was “Yeah, and RE4 is great, why are you complaining?”
@@TheArkTheArkTheArk Exactly. It feels like RE4 but with the i-frames stripped out and much more resource management put in. I honestly think I like it more than RE4 (which I am currently replaying now that the HD mod is finally done -- one of the best games ever made if you ask me, so my TEW1 praise is high).
The difference in quality on the character models from the first game to the second is definitely noticeable. Still a great game though. I think I might like the first one better than the second.
I adore this game so much, especially that hilariously over the top final boss, I’ve been hoping to see you play it! I’m also hoping we get more Evil Within one day, I don’t think 2 ever got any DLC even though it felt like they were hinting at some. I’m always down for more cheesy fun horror games. Also coincidentally I just had my first eye exam in a while and had to get my eye pressure tested by being poked with a plastic rod, it felt a lot like getting stabbed in the eye by Ruvik.
DLC of Kidman and Joseph would wrap up the series pretty well. Or even a 3rd game featuring them. The end of TEW2 pretty much finishes Sebastian's story, but it seems like Kidman had more work to do on her own accord. They even hinted at Joseph being alive and well, but never appeared. Hopefully the third game can fully conclude their stories and let them have a happy ending.
I liked a lot of about the initial Evil Within and the general concept. While I like a lot of the gameplay improvements of evil within 2, I found myself to be less interested in the story in 2 as I was in 1. I felt the villains in 2 weren't as imposing as 1. Not to mention I disliked kidman in both games and thought (IMO) she was kind of a terrible person that the game wanted me to like, and I just didn't.
Yeah the 2nd game rotated and swapped villains too often, whereas the 1st game had Ruvik and the Director as the main opposing forces until the epilogue. I really didn't care about all the religious bullshit that the demonic pastor had to say, but I LOVED Stefano's and Myra's arcs. Stefano's macabre plotline was so disturbing but alluring, and Myra's end-of-the-world solution was a good wrap up to the STEM system. If they incorporated all 3 villains simultaneously, that would've made the story feel a lot more cohesive. They're even a perfect fit for each other plot-wise. Myra was chaotic good, Theodor was lawful evil, and Stefano was chaotic neutral.
@@PostalDude_1997 She was the best in DLCs. In the second game she was just a side character who killed many people at the end. I loved her only in TEW1 DLCs.
@@well-being2608 It was kind of understandable though. Everyone who would've been redeemable were already killed e.g. Yukiko, Miles, William, Esmeralda, O'Neal, Julian, and anyone else who would've appeared. All the Mobius members that were left would've been killed for insubordination. So realistically, there was nothing else Kidman could've done aside from do what Myra entrusted her to do.
@@inplane9970 Eh Julian Sykes is a bit of an unknown, he's not confirmed to be straight up dead, it's left to the imagination if he escaped or if he was sent down deeper. Imagine trying to sleep but there's a fucking.. lighthouse thingy on the asylum next your apartment that has light in the middle of the city instead of near the sea.
The first one is and will be my favorite horror game in terms of real horror, the grittiness, the tension, the environment, and everything else is what made the evil within 1 is truly horrifying game to play, i was so scared i could get passed chapter 3.
@@SpoonyBard88Story is better not like either has anything to write home about, Pacing was also better, and in 2 once you get past stefano how many “Main bosses” have you gotta fight again and considering all of them were out for themselves what was the point of killing them all? Gameplay was better, Stealth is only good when you can’t fight back, The level design of 2 felt like outriders, just walking around an empty open world until you find certain doors that lead to your mission which you never can open again afterwards. The hell is game feel? Anyway. Sounds like you’re gonna make up an explanation for that one if you see this.

Evil within is one of the best horror games of all time, i liked both games, the first for the atmosphere and story, the second for the gameplay and open world, both games have great villains and creepy vibes.
Nailed the review, you need hired on IGN because we're in agreement with these games. Like I've said plenty of times before, I hope for a third game someday. Fingers remain crossed. Lol. :P
I love how you never have a goal or even know where you are going at any point during this game. It's great. Also, you know what the re4 merchant needed to be even better? Having to travel to a special room where the doors take ten seconds to open before you can upgrade your stuff.
"Oh, no, I better get to the top of that random tower in the distance." "Oh, i got teleported to a random place I have never been or seen before before I got there, but that's okay. Now I know I have to go some other place for some reason." "Joseph, are you randomly turning evil... within?" "No, I'm not." "Okay, cool." "Oh, no! I'm turning evil!" "Quit that!" "Okay, I'm not turning evil anymore." "Well, I'm glad that's over."
Im one of those rare people that think EW2 is a 10/10 masterpiece. I know its unpopular, but the mix of survival, scavenging, crafting and hardcore game play. I love it.
The Evil Within at "Nightmare" is worth the hassle! A few sections are different than the standard difficulty and it's better for it! It forces you to play very carefully, disarming every trap to get crafting material for the crossbow bolts (reset every time you fail, save often). The crossbow is your best friend in many circumstances : fire for running hordes (you can wipe multiple, as long as they run through the fire), flash for invisible enemies (followed by a kneel & stab move, saving ammo) , poison for 2 or 3 "zombies", freeze for chainsaw maniacs followed by a harpoon to the head), shock & explosion for crowd control. The sequence where you try to flee from Laura in multiple rooms is maddeningly hard, but every win feels earned. I got so good playing it that in the later chapters, it felt "easy" even if it never was. After beating it, it became one of my favorite survival horror games and assuredly the best ratio difficulty/reward ever, and I've been playing 3rd person survival horror games since 1996. Flawed, but awesome! Nightmare is the best way to experience it. The game felt like it was made to play that way. Hardcore gamers only!
It's a great game and has pretty much all the features Resident Evil 4 (2004) has with added new ones. I recommend the game for people who are not casual gamers as the AI is very strong and aggressive. One of the most challenging survival horror games out there especially on the harder difficulties. If you're a pro Resident Evil 4 player you'll love this masterpiece for the gameplay, everything is out to kill you. When played with a good planned strategy you'll survive well using your weapons, tools and environment objects. The theme and atmosphere is definitely Japanese horror. The Level design and layouts are very well crafted and thought about too. If you're a casual player though you'll probably rage quit and blame the game because of your skill issues. But learn from your errors and you will be almost unstoppable.
This game left me in a constant state of anxiety. ( this is a good thing ) Even when I got stuck and wanted to give up , I would come back and play it. Very enjoyable game play , but more than anything the immersion and the terror you feel is palpable. ( don’t play this shit at night 😂 )
Sometimes, you have to wipe off your glasses in the rain. They'll get covered again, but it's important to see in the interim. You know, to feel normal...
It's been a while but I remember that around the point where it says "50% Headshot Crit Chance" (38:10) I finished upgrading my Magnum and it is still the most satisfying Magnum I remember from any game.
I love this game so much. It was one of the first horror games I ever played and I've been hooked on the survival horror genre since. Playing it on Akumu mode was one hell of an experience. Both the first game and its sequel are just overall amazing games that I wish got a bit more attention. I am still hoping for a third game. I miss my baby boys, Joseph and Ruvik.
I absolutely adore this game. It’s one of the best survival horror games in my opinion and it’s in my top 10 games of all time. But for some reason I just can’t get into the sequel… 🤷🏻♂️
EW1 was definitely a masterpiece. The problem with EW2 was that they listened to the people who complained that the first game was too boring, slow paced, too hard and the story was extremely hard to follow. I also cannot get into the second game, the first game made this franchise seem like it was all about complete chaos where nothing makes sense and I loved that! The 2nd game lost that chaotic touch big time.
@@mn_seahawk25thehawk64 yeah man. The first game was such a roller coaster ride. I loved how Shinji Mikami threw in all of these little Resident Evil references too. Like the first zombie you run into eating the guys face off. And finishing the finally boss with a freaking ROCKET LAUNCHER!
This game was so misunderstood by people when it came out. This game has such cool set pieces and constant action that just keeps going the whole game. This game just throws you around to location to location you never know what’s going to happen past the next door I love it.
One of my favorite things about this game is how shameless of an edge lord Ruvik is. Slow walks, never runs, long trench coat - it’s so cheesy and dumb I love it
Didn't realise how much I needed an Australian lets play channel in my life lmao there's something so comforting about Aussie humour especially since most online spaces are dominated by Americans (ironic considering I'm surrounded by Aussie humour 24/7 irl lmfao)
There’s no way ur serious dude the story in the first game was hardly even comprehensible and I didn’t know what was going on most of the game and most of the first game had boring gameplay and clunky controls
Okay aside from all the pros and cons I really loved Sebastian and the best boy Joseph’s (b)romantic relationship in this game. I was mad that they didn’t show us Joseph in 2 but I believe he lives happily with Sebastian now so it’s tooootally okay
It decided to be an open world game instead of the linear horror game it was in the first one..big mistake. First one is still a top 10 horror game though.
I miss everything in Tew1 Background music, the creepy as loading screens and Sebastian’s old face and voice Even the way you die Tew2 was really disappointing Tew1 made you confused and wonder what is this place and Tew2 is u saving your daughter…..
I disagree. The first half of EW2 with semi open world environments was the best part of this franchise. Stumbling on monsters and events on your own is way scarier then being guided by your hand in a linear game.
@@JC-kl3uc True, only thing that brings it down is that all 3 monster designs were unoriginal, all the enemies were non-threatening and forgot about you if you took three steps away from them, the open-world nature synergised with the complete abandonment of resource management, crafting was broken as the only thing you should ever use is your shotgun, you can stealth-kill everything practically from the front, the gameplay has no variety whatever, you can upgrade all your abilities minus one red gel so there are no more builds, the boss fights and level design in general were far less original, and the story was written for people who had never seen or read a story, so the very simple plot with its very simple themes had to be told and retold in every cutscene. But apart from that, yeah, it's a banger.
I had no idea how much people hated the sequel until reading these comments. I’m just gonna choose to love both games for their own reasons and let everyone else bicker over it.
2nd was trash, AI was not smart, gunplay felt off compared yo original, they removed the fire matches, removed the Japanese horror level design and went with western. I could go on lol
It's funny because both games are far from perfect but people keep trying to put down the sequel with it's issues while ignoring all the issues from the first game. Both are games are fantastic. Both games had bad AI Gunplay was really bad in TEW1 and wasn't much better in the second game Firematches were broken in TEW1, it was basically a get out of jail free card WHEN it worked Then we can get to the fact that, TEW1 had awful pacing, game was HEAVILY unfair in a lot of places which make it more frustrating then scary, story was sloppy but creepy, characters were bland as a surfboard, on launch the game ran like shit, TEW2 improves so much of these and also gives you emphasis on exploration, every time I play it again I discover new little parts of the map that gives me items, the story while a little more generic was a lot more clean and you can tell RE8 Took a lot of vibes from it, and there was a lot more enemy variety. It then sacrificed Boss design, villains weren't as hardhitting, and a lot of the hardcore gorey environments were gone but both have their pros and cons. They're both fantastic
This is the first video I've seen of his and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I came to comments to see what people had say and it looks like I may have some back cataloging to do. I love your channel by the way, I discovered it during covid and have been subscribed ever since. Keep on keeping on you beautiful mf!
Both games were far from perfect, the first certainly had a stronger direction than the sequel, but then the sequel did some new things that were pretty neat, they're quite different. In any case, all of these great horror franchises that are just driven into a wall... Look at Dead Space... It's hard to make good RE4 clones. To be fair, i never thought Shinji Mikami was this one man army genius, he gets closer to the realm of Yu Suzuki than his own friend Hideki Kamiya. I love the man for what he's created of course, but i also love shenmue 1 and 2... and cannot play shenmue 3 beyond moving Ryo for 2 minutes, while remembering how bad the game is because of its director, and quit.
@@Stigmaphobia777 im a big fan of what he's created in general aswell, i just dont think he's an endless source of raw genius like some like to paint him as. And there's plenty of remarkable game directors that have fans like yourself, whatever they do, just by virtue of being dont by them, get enjoyment (somehow) out of their loyals... Again, to each their own, but he's far from this genius, he's sloppy as hell, and he created my favourite game franchise (along with the franchises that hironobu sakaguchi and hidetaka miyazaki have created)... So it's not an attack on him or the fans... I really like the Evil Within, and i do like 1 in general more than 2, which Mikami had more control over... But it's hardly an improvement over what he already did over 15 years ago (give or take) at the time of its release.
How? Tew1 he felt bland and had no personality while in the second one he was able to show more charisma due to the story being connect to him. He actually felt like a detective in that game

I agree i played it YEARS ago. It’s definitely one of my favorites
Probably the best survival horror ever.
Both were INCREDIBLY boring....hell no 😆
Evil within had the best boss battles I've ever played.
Every once in a while I realize how long I've been following Indei for and just how beautifully he's transitioned his content. From Dark Souls top 10 lists to satire top 10 lists to *blank*souls. I'm still looking forward to The Trees of Elden Ring tho

Honestly an amazing game.
Got all the achievements in this game. Akumu mode was a wonderful challenge and felt amazing when the achievement popped.(took me 11 hrs)
I hate Akumu mode but it is fun
Agreed!
I don't get why people would go through Akumu mode without upgrades, I went through it with guides to grab all upgrades and stuff, and even then, the parts with the gun toting enemies sucked so badly.
I've completed that mode 3 times.

I’m a die hard fan of the first evil within, seeing him play through it is glorious
The second game is a perfect sequel.
Check it out!
@@sxb2andtheotherguys nah, the second one was disappointing. probably the most disappointing sequel I’ve ever played.
Man I didn't know people hated the second one so much, I thought it was great.
11:55 is Sebastian under the impression that the chain saw got its name because it is a saw for cutting chains? Did the writers think that? I hope so.
Evil Within is so gloriously over the top.

I thought the second game is better in every way.
What did you like about the first one better?
@@sxb2andtheotherguys I thought the story and the horror was better in the first one. I also didn't really like the semi open world thing that they went with for the second game. I know that's an unpopular opinion though. The nostalgia I have for the first game probably also plays a role in my opinion of it.
I hate the second game. I hate it so much that hating it makes me happy.
i would have liked first game a lot more if there was less instant death stuff, way to many enemy was just kill and restart to the nearest checkpoint, like when the main antangint got turn into a enemy, he was so bullshit.
Evil within is one of the best horror games I’ve played
the upgrade system in this game is oddly satisfying
That moment you beat amalgam α, get 20000 or so green gel and go back to the upgrade chair…🫶
Yes that game is a masterpiece. The second game isn't as bad as people say either. Both are extremely fun but the first will always be the best. The sequel was great up until you fight Stephano...after that the game feels like it splits into two completely different games.
Great take
Reminds me of Far Cry 3, after you "kill" Vaas, it doesn't feel like you need to continue, Jason got all of his friends, and avenged his brother, sure he didn't know riley was alive but he was told he was dead and had no reason to assume different
Nah it's garbage, endless cutscenes and they tried to take story seriously .. big mistake. Gameplay, enemies, bosses, levels all much much worse than original.
The 2nd was heavily downgraded, worst AI, removed fire matches, gunplay felt bad compared to the original.
@@hello-there-7074I think they did that for FC3 to show how far Jason had fallen into gruesome depravity, he wanted to stay and keep killing.

I think I remember a rumor that that Ghost Wire game started production as EW3.
Your not wrong 2 never did get dlc but said somethings to say there could and I think they should make a 3rd and final game
I was hoping we’d get some sort of Kidman dlc where you’d be finding and destroying other groups of mobiles members
Sadly the sequel had poor sales and now Tango work in new IPs like GhostWire
DLC of Kidman and Joseph would wrap up the series pretty well. Or even a 3rd game featuring them. The end of TEW2 pretty much finishes Sebastian's story, but it seems like Kidman had more work to do on her own accord. They even hinted at Joseph being alive and well, but never appeared. Hopefully the third game can fully conclude their stories and let them have a happy ending.
42:09 "You"ll never catch me alive"... I mean, he wasn't wrong
Kidman was great. Hope EW3 has her as the MC
@@PostalDude_1997 She was the best in DLCs. In the second game she was just a side character who killed many people at the end. I loved her only in TEW1 DLCs.

The level design of 2 felt like outriders, just walking around an empty open world until you find certain doors that lead to your mission which you never can open again afterwards.

The Evil Within: Clearly the most under-rated Survival Horror game of all.
Yes, the first one was a masterpiece!! It was so much better than the sequel.
Getting Joseph out of the cursed bathtub will forever be out of context, whether or not there's a context to be given.

My favorite game of all time.
Its so good i've played for 5 years straight then i'v finished it on Akumu
I hate TEW2 with a passion. When the first game is a blueprint. Unbelievably underrated gem
?
36:30 this is actually a blessed elevator; getting into the elevator *saved* you from the otherwise unbeatable baddie
The Evil Within 1 was way better than 2.
The evil within 1 is just so good ❤
I couldn’t breath while playing the game. It was the only horror game that made me shit myself that much. So yep! Top ten best games of all time
I almost think that the Neverhood music is what keeppsmbrining me back to these videos.
@@gtamike_TSGK No no, please do. Please keep trying to make other people conform to your opinions. It’s very cool and stuff.
@@AzureTheAvian This comment is so weird lmao.
@@gtamike_TSGKgunplay is better in the sequel, AI needed a tone down from the first
It's funny because both games are far from perfect but people keep trying to put down the sequel with it's issues while ignoring all the issues from the first game. Both are games are fantastic.
Both games had bad AI
Gunplay was really bad in TEW1 and wasn't much better in the second game
Firematches were broken in TEW1, it was basically a get out of jail free card WHEN it worked
Then we can get to the fact that, TEW1 had awful pacing, game was HEAVILY unfair in a lot of places which make it more frustrating then scary, story was sloppy but creepy, characters were bland as a surfboard, on launch the game ran like shit, TEW2 improves so much of these and also gives you emphasis on exploration, every time I play it again I discover new little parts of the map that gives me items, the story while a little more generic was a lot more clean and you can tell RE8 Took a lot of vibes from it, and there was a lot more enemy variety. It then sacrificed Boss design, villains weren't as hardhitting, and a lot of the hardcore gorey environments were gone but both have their pros and cons. They're both fantastic
this game is a masterpiece but this commentary is god tier
My favorite part of the game is seb's reaction its both badass and funny. Like the first wtf when he sees leslie
42:19 he indeed did not catch him alive
I was really really really really disappointed with The Evil Within 2 but I still love the first game.
Why?
Grear video Indei, I don't really like Let's plays much anymore but your fornat and humor keeps me entertained. :)
These are the best videos you make man, love em 💜
This is the first video I've seen of his and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I came to comments to see what people had say and it looks like I may have some back cataloging to do. I love your channel by the way, I discovered it during covid and have been subscribed ever since. Keep on keeping on you beautiful mf!
Woooooooot evil within. Honestly one of the best Survival horror games I’ve ever played
I still HATE The Evil Within 2 but the rumor of TEW3 gives me hope.
not gonna lie, I played this on PS3 and I didn't suffer so many bugs and crashes as you did my man
Despite its flaws it's really good. Might be my favorite psychological horror game.
One thing I could never get, was how Ruvick killed people OUTSIDE of the machine.
I love The Evil Within. Even more than I hate The Evil Within 2.
I remember specifically I crashed in the exact same spot whenever I played this in 2014 or 13 or whatever it was.
Best game ever.
This game is still a masterpiece. The gameplay, story, characters and boss fights… everything is so much better than 2.
TEW 2 is still amazing.
7:10 is a bigger masterpiece than my life
22:54 leaving it here for me, because this gag always crack me up LMAO
I've loved every Shinji Mikami game I've played.
Yes, even Shadows of the Damned.
I'm loving it. I think it can be a bit hard at times, but it feels more like survival horror than re games.
TEW1 Sebastian felt far more realistic and human than TEW2’s cringe Sebastian.
Why?
How? Tew1 he felt bland and had no personality while in the second one he was able to show more charisma due to the story being connect to him. He actually felt like a detective in that game
@Ritzuh You’ve convinced me with this short comment that you either have brain damage or you have not played The Evil Within 2.
@Ritzuh ah yes, Because watching a goddamn woman with 4 arms crawling out of a corpse is definitely a sight that's worth a solid "Goddamnit" line. It truly shows how horrific the sight ism
40:10 I love the Urgot edits, dude xD
1st game is sooo good. 2nd suuuuucks
Both are good
@@jacobmyers5846 second is trash,it's not even in same league.
Its has a lot of bugs if you have a to high framerate. I changed it in the settings to cap at 30 frames, this somehow gives you a lock 60 but it fixes the games physics bugs.

If it is still actual
i want to know so bad
@indeimaus This is my first time watching one of your videos, and I just want to let you know that I enjoyed it a lot lol. Very entertaining. The Evil Within is one of my favorite survival horror games, if not one of my favorite games, I really hope this series comes back, its very underrated. If you haven't done Silent Hill 2, I would love to see that. I'll be sure to check out more of your videos!
Thanks mate, i have covered silent hill 2 for the channel actually!

Hire the man, Indei.
Amazing series under rated
Both? No
Only the first one.
Laughed my ass off at "You Will Suck!"
I'm kinda shocked how much of this game I've forgotten. Like 80% dropped off my brain.
Love it--the music right at the start(in the car) im crying with luaghter.
