I think I may have the same issues with my SLK320 engine. It's leaking or using a lot of oil, but I do a lot of pulls, Thank for the video. That 190e was another dream car of mine in the early 90's, but now I'm sold on r170's SLKs.
Yup the valve covers leaking is very common on the 3.2 and 3.5 V6 engines from that era. It’s definitely a cool little car, much better in the v6 than the 4cyl supercharged
Yes I've got the same aftermarket headlights but there should be a fastener at the bottom off the lights it's on the lights but I don't have the bracket and I don't know where it attaches to on the car? Can't find anything on the internet and I was hoping you were going to show it! The lights are too low and I can't adjust them higher because I need this bracket attached.
@@LOLTires well that's the thing I don't have the bracket that what I want to see a picture of how it looks, what at the bottom of your light attached to the car ? and whereabouts in the car is it attached below the head lamp unit? or is it further back ?there is a position cut out for a insert for a plastic nylon fastener and I'm assuming that was for the bracket in the inner wing! I can't see anywhere else it would be attached?
broooo car is cleeeaannnnnn!!!! love it. I wonder how the halos would look at night on the whip lol. that grill definitely changed the look. love it. I will be in the market soon for an r170 or r171 but can't decide! can't wait for updates on ur slk. keep it up
always nice to see people taking good care of older cars. I have a similar one but a '98, did those new projector housings come with any wiring relays / are they basically just plug and play with the old connectors? i currently have the reflector housing styles, identical to the ones you removed in the video (but with a black housing instead of chrome), and i notice their beam pattern is very narrow- not too good on making turns on dark roads at night. wondering how much better the projectors are
The beam pattern is not too bad for an aftermarket light, definitely a large improvement over the stock headlight output. I built pigtails to adapt from the plug on the headlight to the stock/oem harness. That was I could always swap back if needed without modifying anything. I’m sure they sell some online that adapt from it, but I found it easier just to build a harness.
Purchased them on eBay: www.ebay.com/itm/192210775483?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=nA6hqFjBR_e&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=e1bzs8QkTHu&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Hey, any idea as to how to completely turn off the traction control and ESP? The ESP button turns on the bright orange light on the dash and to my understanding its “disabled” until the car thinks you’re slipping too much which will cause it to activate even though you purposely pressed the button to turn it off. I have an SLK230 so it has trouble spinning as it is but I’m looking for a solution cause I can’t seem to find any
I never fully had luck with turning it off completely before I sold it. I tried running the switch that thought would disable it but it did not work. I was only able to disable it by pulling a fuse under the dash that also disabled the top and windows. Another person commented on one of the videos saying “ Behind the brake pedal, there is a switch that turns this function on and off.” But I never had a chance to go back and look for it.
Jake, I won't argue on ur choice of not using all the light options with those headlights! Car is looking a lot better, good video.
Rice!
Haha jk. Loving the car.
excellent job on those lights.

Great video. I have the same car with an automatic gearbox in the UK (don't think the 320 was every available here with manual)
It’s a fun car, I think the 6 speed is worth while if you have the option to swap it
Wow amazing build 😎🙌
Thank you!

Email me a picture of what bracket you’re referring to and I’ll try to help you out. Loltiresmedia@gmail.com

Thank you, much appreciate it. I’ll keep doing what I can. Right now I’m delayed by the same ol’ story of supply chain issues...

You didn't show the "hidden" screws in the air vents that need to be removed.
Where did you purchase those headlights? How much?

Great vid. Was the gasket maker/silicone dried up on the valve covers and just needed replacing or did you need any special to reseal them ?
Thank you, there are actual gaskets you need to replace on these engines
Where can I get those lights?
I got them through eBay motors, but they came with regular bulbs so I upgraded them to LED headlight bulbs
what type of diff do you have?
It’s the stock open diff, it’ll still do a one tire fire
