Yeah, it was a real-joy showing my kids Mrs. Doughtfire and Harry and the Hendersons (amongst others). These films represent a large chunk of my childhood. It gives them new memories while allowing me to relive some very fond memories of a much simpler time. Ah, the good ole days. If I'd of known they'd one day be regarded as the good ole days, I would have slowed down and savored them a bit more. Maybe the present will one day be regarded as the good ole days? Gives me pause to slow down.

Great stuff Minty! I was lucky to work as David Suchet's (Hunter Le Fleur) Stand-in when they were on location in and around Seattle Washington in the Summer of 1986. Another interesting note was the film's Director of Photography was Allen Daviau who was also the DP on Steven Spielberg's E.T., THE COLOR PURPLE and EMPIRE OF THE SUN. Really nice guy. A lot of the crew had just finished shooting THE COLOR PURPLE with Spielberg and wore their COLOR PURPLE hats on the set. Bill Dear the director was a lot of fun and it was a really nice friendly crew. Lithgow and Suchet were friendly as was Melinda Dillon who played Lithgow's wife. Melinda also played the mother of the little boy abducted by the aliens in Spielberg's CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND. Joshua Rudoy who played Ernie the kid, got to hang out with my cousin's kids when there was down time from shooting and he was a cute kid. My good friend Byron who I met on the film was Don Ameche's Stand-in, so since Ameche and Suchet had a lot of scenes together, we got to work together a lot. You can actually see us in the DMV Scene when Le Flur went there to track down the Henderson's address. Bill Dear featured all the Stand-in's in that scene as we were all standing around Le Fleur impatiently waiting in the DMV line. I'm the irritated bearded guy chewing gum. David Suchet went on to play Hercule Perot in the BBC Agatha Christie Series. Anyway I have fond memories of working on that movie and thanks for letting me share here! Keep up the great videos!

There have been at least 500,000 films ever made.
If Minty is doing a review on one film every three days or so, he should have enough material for the next 4109 years! That's not allowing for the 100s of new films each year.
It gives me comfort to know that we shouldn't run out of Minty reviews in my lifetime.

500,000 films ever made (very appoximate guess based on Google searches) x 3 (one review every 3 days) = 1,500,000 days (i.e. 4,109 years).

I only ever saw it as "Harry & the Hendersons", but it was in 89 when it played on UK cable in Spain. It was kept on for years so regular re-watch at any hour. It is to me John's movie with Harry as his way to change (80-90 loved that idea). Also David Suchet!!! As the hunter who too is changed by marvellous Harry (best Poirot). Watching this after trailer for Cats- something went badly wrong that that's supposed to be progress in special effects. As a kid I would have given Harry a big hug, he was just so special especially as I'm a vegetarian. Love the burying animals in the back yard & the pool! Hero Harry

I choose to believe Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes is its sequel...think about it!
John Lithgow plays the same character, older and with Alzheimer's, having changed his family's name to avoid being hounded about their association with Harry. The kid with glasses grew up to be James Franco, having a great interest in and respect for apes and their intelligence.

My favorite scene in the movie, purely showing off how expressive that animatronic mask was, was when poor Harry got kicked in the balls. There's this slow reveal, starting with angry, then moving on to a little pain, and then the feeling of pain all of us guys have felt at one time or another. There's technical brilliance, then there's just plain showing off.

Perhaps, but I’d imagine his eyes were set so close because they needed to align to the man’s eyes under the mask. Also, if they made the head thinner to help the eyes look more appropriately spaced, the head would be too thin for such a large body. Lastly, if they had mad the head thinner, I don’t believe all the facial articulation gadgets would’ve fit/worked properly.

I loved it as much as I did back then, it is heart-warming and hilarious and I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried during it.
