This is the definitive theme song for the Doom franchise imo. It sounds so triumphant and victorious, as if Doomguy is a knight, which he sort of is in a way…
Truth be told, yes. E1M1 is a great theme of the whole action it takes place in Doom, but this song right here(specially this cover in particular) are the main theme(s) of the saga
As much as I love Doom 2016 and Eternal's theme songs, THIS is what I always envisioned Doom's true theme song to be. To be honest, I actually even prefer Doom 3's theme song to be more "theme-y" than '16 and Eternal.
To me, this is THE theme for the Doomguy. Even more so when we would later learn what he would evolve into many, many years after the release of the original games.
The first time I played Final Doom was the PlayStation port and I thought this theme was unique to it. It was later on that I learned that it already existed from the original PSX version (which I hadn't played yet) and was basically the main theme Aubrey Hodges had composed for the series. It made more sense to me when I heard the Doom 64 version and put 2 and 2 together. Personally I think many other pieces could easily fit the bill as the "main theme" such as Sign of Evil or even the victory theme from episodes 1-3 but I can see why this is regarded by many as the "main theme" for Doom since not only is it recurring but it just conveys a sense of epicness and dread that's tough to match.
Man, the nostalgia... my first shooter... that menu had me in awe, i remembering staying on the menu for the first time, hearing the loud thud of the skull, and the music. I never got past the third level, until i got the dos version and played it very soon after, very different feel, i later went back and finished the psx version too. Oh quick edit; And i just remembered the game being so frightening and realistic i was afraid to even move, nearly crapped my pants when that zombie man came out of the corridor from the front, because i think i shot a bullet ( they could even hear shots! ) Another quick edit; i just remembered i must have fibbed a bit, because i played the level 4 first play. So i must've gotten past 3. I remember figuring out the demons could hear bullets when the pinky would alert in the beginning of level 4 if i shot. The game was so hard, i barely finished a level a day at first.
A nice mix of classic and 20th anniversary tracks! Pays respect to both versions! Hey, here's what's up, i know that i've mentioned a lot of tracks related to Doom 64 and PSX Doom and PSX Final Doom, however... However, i have totally forgot about the post-credits music from PSX Doom. Yeah, the post credits music that plays instead of D_EVIL (Evil incarnate), it's when you can execute every single demon (doomguy as well). The track, on youtube, is called "Doom Playstation Credits & Demo". And here's an idea for the video. Instead of the usual combination of gameplay and still shots, you could do a more serious project, that will count both as a cover video AND death scenes compilation of every single iteration of every classic Doom demon. Right? Just a compilation of quick and short death scenes, in which a demon either falls on the floor or gets torn to pieces, straight from every iteration of main doom games. But for the sake of keeping consistent with modernism, we could do something slightly different. We could replace Doom 2 for PC with Brutal Doom and replace Doom 64 with Brutal Doom 64 v2.5, because those games maintain a quite tight grip on the aesthetics of the original games while enhancing gore and gameplay, but for the most part, the stylistic design of demon sprites remains the same, their death are simply more gory (and more awesome). So, as an example. The video would begin with the deaths of assault rifle zombie (zombieman), it would include quick and short death scenes from BD, BD64, Doom 3, Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal (since all the main doom games contain this demon). Same deal would be for shotgun zombie, he's available in all five games as well. Same for imps and pinkies and cacodemons and all the others. If, for whatever reason, some demon doesn't make an appearance in all the main games, then just show the games where they do appear (for example, pain elemental, appears in brutal doom , BD 64 and Doom Eternal). Right? I guess such a compilation would be quite a lot longer than 3 minutes 57 seconds, so at fourth minute mark you could do a personal continuation, personal extension of the track! Remix/reimagining style! :) Thank you again DAR, super cool 🙏
Dude, I love that idea! I think what I'll do in order to keep everything 2d and relatively visually consistent, is that I'll go looking for sprites in mods like Doom 4 Vanilla. I know there's a DOOM 3 one also, but I can't remember the name of it off the top of my head. I could totally have Classic Doomguy, D64Guy, D3Guy, and the Doom Slayer all meet up to rip & tear through a stylized monster-credits sequence!
@@DAR-Davester2296 uuuu, i can't wait already 😁 Btw, when using custom demon sprites that are not related to brutal doom, you can use bolognese gore mod, which will enhance the gore! Just don't forget to set the gibbing threshold in Options > Bolognese to something like "-15 health" instead of guaranteed gibbing.
Imagine this playing while backing the opening narration/credits of a brand new doom movie (Ideally one that's actually good). Possibly using the same style of voice over as 2016 and eternal if they go for narration. That'd be chilling and epic all at the same time.
Omg... This is A M A Z I N G!!! Hearing this brings me so much nostalgia since I've been introduce to doom series with the PS1 version as a kid. Sadly I can't play the OGG songs on my PC or my Ipod for some reason... but that's OK, TH-cam still exists! Keep it up ! :) :D

Victorious? Eh, I hear a lot of desperation in this theme. Heroism, but it is empered with a sense of Gothic Foreboding and impending.. Doom.
Its hard to nail down one feel, Heroic, but foreboding. Triumphant, but sinister. One thing is true though, weather its yours or theirs, it is DOOM!
Truth be told, yes.

They fit their games, and its cool to have variety.
Agreed.
It's even used as the Final Boss theme for a map pack made with Brutal Doom's gameplay in mind. It's that epic.
Aubrey Hodges' musical style makes the play station version much more military, which makes it fucking epic. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Uff that Doom 64 intro is so epic, this is DOOM SAGA
One of the best themes of a game ever. Can't change my mind.
This is awesome reminds me a bit of Grieg.
This theme is supposed to play Doom the dark ages
Wow, this is a masterpiece. It brings chills down the spine remembering all those times slaying demons with friends back in the day. Cool stuff dude.
Always loved this version!
I'm adding this to my playlist of PSX Doom theme remixes.

THE SOUND OF PART OF MY CHILDHOOD, LET'S GO BABY!

This is one of my favorite batman themes

Blasting this on the bus with my speaker to block out the other kids playing BTS music.
Nice!
You are master
I'm the only one who hears the tune of "sign of evil" fitting perfectly with the final part of the song
Oh man, this is beautiful. Please tell me you plan to cover Retribution Dawns.

Who would’ve thought in 2022 I’d be unable to find a quality game worth playing, meanwhile, in 1995..
