We need tiny houses, transitional housing, and more lower income housing for everyone in Florida. Not just temporary tents.
The idea is that those in positions of authority want to make themselves look good by forcing disadvantaged people to either hide or leave, so it looks like Florida doesn't have any problems. Then, they can point to places where there are more adequate services and compassion, and blame their more visible homeless problem on liberal politics. What a crock.

The homelessness in Florida has exist long before Ron DeSantis took office. I remember I can go back as early as 2015 when I begin to realize the staggering number of people living on the streets in Miami. If anyone is to blame, begin with your mayor and city officials that were voted in office. Of course, the Governor can render or abandon his or her role to help but ultimately, city officials have more control over this than anyone else.

I have a friend that after his mother died he was going to end up homeless and I did everything I could to look into homes or any kind of help for him, but he finally found help in Florida with a friend of his to let him stay

where i live all the homeless care about is they drugs and our crime is high cause of it..i been living here for 12 years in this town and things have got worse not all homeless people are innocent!!

There ARE shelters open. No one is preventing the homeless from going. Some may be dealing with mental health issues or addiction. These problems usually leave the homeless skeptical of “help.” It’s my hope they will go tonight or tomorrow. With the help of the locals.

I live in Sorrento lake county. Just a couple months before that law went into effect over 200 homeless have showed up in downtown Sorrento. They constantly rob the family dollar store, the dollar general, the circle K. Recently a homeless man died violently inside the circle K store causing a huge mess from fentanyl. The store employee had to clean up all the blood, feces and vomit while 20 of his homeless friends stood outside in the parking lot until the cops drove them away. There's nobody managing anything or any damn services for homeless. Dealing with the homeless? Bullshit. They get arrested for trespassing thats it. They are treated like garbage.

Hello Jose and Katie, I live on Daytona Beach, FL and I tried to put up tents in my yard for homeless people. A cop said I couldn't put up tents in the front yard or back yard. However my neighbor has several huge tents and tons of garbage in the front yard and back.😮

We aren't even in hyperinflation yet and we are already in the bad times... BRICS hasn't even pulled the rug on the dollar yet... in a few weeks they could.
One thing I don't understand is shelters not allowing people with addiction or mental health issues in. The compassionate and right thing for the government to do would be to make sure the shelters have the resources to offer treatment for addiction and for mental illness to help get these people's lives back on track. A lot of people either don't realize or want to acknowledge that most homeless people who have those kind of issues would gladly accept help it is only a tiny fraction who would decline.
Instead of giving them land to camp on designating an actual structure for their shelter, giving them access to addiction and mental health treatment and offering training and job search assistance would be far more beneficial not only to the homeless but to the very society they would reintegrate as a productive member of.
The U.S. Government can afford trillions of dollars every year to equip the military yet never seems to have the resources to help the impoverished citizens, and that is sickening.
