As an Israeli Jew, I must say that I feel like we Jews aren't giving the Druze enough respect and recognition for their contribution and involvement in the state. We are the first to show gratitude to them when they enlist in the army like us and for the sacrifice of their fallen soldiers, but we tend to forget about them when they finish their service. Their infrastructure in their towns is often old and unmaintained (their waterpipes sometimes freeze on cold days in the winter), they are treated like Arabs in security checks at the airport (which is a different issue in general, but the Druze definitely don't deserve that shitty attitude), and the government tends to ignore their opinion on domestic and national issues, like what happened with the Jewish State Basic Law a few years ago. They deserve to have recognition and quality of life more than all of us, and it makes me sad to see them being ignored by the public unless it is Memorial Day.
Do you always look on the empty part of the glass and say the glass is half empty, instead of saying the glass is half full? with all the issues the Druze have in Israel, i think their situation is better than the situation in Syria or Lebanon, with the civil war and economic collapse of the states. of course those issues need to be taken care of, but that is not the main problems. Dear lady sisters... YOU ROCK! Thank you so much for this great video. Is the first "Israel Phenomenology" that I see and... GREAT!!! I just love it. You all realy, realy Unpacked!!!!
Yup. Same with Poland Czech China Vietnam.....everyone. Just like the Arab republic of Syria. Lebanon and Iraq are countries who tried to blend too many ethnic groups and religious sects and it never quite worked out. Maybe Iraq can be next. A Sunni Arab Hashemite country which is west Iraq and south and east Syria and Jordan. An alawite country in the north west. A Christian Maronite country. The borders in the Middle East today ethnically make no sense it’s almost as if the British wanted to divide and conquer so they purposely made those specific borders so that none of those countries would have a chance at being completely peaceful(except for Jordan, who, you guessed it, are mostly Sunni Arab or Bedouin so not too much diversity)
However, Germany, never implied anywhere that Germany is a German nation state. It’s technically just like America, a multicultural state, as there is no mention of the state and land in connection to the German people the way Israel is specified to be an entity for the Jewish people inside the homeland and outside the homeland in the diaspora. I think England and Japan are nation states tho
@@danielalbo4994 I disagree. Germany doesn't even typically provide citizenship unless by blood. There are millions of Turkish who've lived there for generations without citizenship. Germany is also about 90% white European and 80% straight German. So not very multicultural.
"People think Israel is only made up of Jews and Arabs." "Seriously?" "What about Christians, Muslims, Bahai, The Bedouin?" -That's because most Arabs in Israel (and occupied territories) are Muslim, Christian, Bedouin, or Druze.
Adding to Motti’s reply, technically, also the vast majority of the Christians of Israel/Palestine and the rest of the Levant are not ethnic Arab, but are of Aramaic, Assyrian, and Canaanite roots, some of course still retain these identities to this day like the Syriac/Assyrian/Chaldean churches, as well as retaining the Aramaic language.... Add to that the Armenians of course which have already been mentioned.
"Many people think Israel is made up of Jews and Arabs" - the video is fantastic, but it's noteworthy that the Druze are an indigenous Arab people, as are most of the Christians living in Israel / Palestine. In fact, the Druze were involved in some of the earliest anti-colonial, Pan-Arab, nationalist movements in the Middle-east.
@@zionismisracism5029 Even if you don't like the content because of your biases, the channel itself is still produced very well. You should go back and watch Unpacked's other videos on the dispute in Israel. You will see that Unpacked doesn't fail to mention when mistakes were made by the Israeli side.
@@UNPACKED Don't you think putting out propaganda for ethnic cleansing and apartheid is mean? I mean some of these videos are literally just copy paste from wikipedia.
yeah, Druze are a very small minority in the middle east one of the 22 secterian and ethnicities that the middle east is rich with, and it's normal no one hear about them. :) but unfortunately we are titled in the west directly as terorists if they knew I'm from the middle east XD.
Druze community living in israel is one of the luckiest miniority community in the world who is treated equally with respect by Jewish people and State of Israel. On the other hand miniority communities living in other countries are not enjoying such status, mPakistan.
Accurate and articulate. Great upload. If you come to Israel to visit, I will gladly introduce you to both religious and nonreligious Drùze. Amazing people. You are amazing as well.
Many democracies favour one religious or ethnic group over others. In the UK, for example, the national flag contains a (Christian) cross; only Christian holy days (Christmas and Easter) are national holidays and only high ranking Christian clerics have an automatic entitlement to sit in the legislature.
well actually that's the first video I see it about the religion that I've born in. pretty much precise and good research but yet still missed some stuff which is normal because Druze are a very small community in the middle east, there's also something about Druze as a tip, no one can also enter the religion even if he/she wants, and their ties to the religion is strong, some knows why it's strong becuase it's called "the religion of mind and intellect", some unfortunately don't exactly know why like any other religion where there are people who know nothing about their religion otherthan that they have born in, and also Druze have a very strong ties to thier land no matter who rules it, because they respect everyones way of living in the day to day life and care about prosparety more than political ambitions. But thank you for the good documentary very much appreciated.
I met a Druze Woman in Israel who told me straight she was going to kill herself soon and I bawled hard but what still shocks me is her confusion. She couldn’t believe someone cared about her life so much. I owe her, God so help me. There were more Malakim in Israel defending me I think than I can know for a looong time. Hope not.

wow, i haven't seen such a well balanced and insightful video that is also entertaining to watch in a very long time. usually need to sit threw long lecture series to get some of the insights presented so simply and openly here. well done! and yes - Israel owes a debt to the Druze that can never be paid back, i was really sorry about how the nation state law hurt them - even though it was aimed at something else.

I am confident that in the years to come it will work out its internal problems.

Crazy good video - mostly due to the presentation, but also the amount/quality of information. Truly, thanks.
Amen! Americans can absolutely learn from this! Thank you for your insight!
Druze fight for Israel!
Dear lady sisters... YOU ROCK!
Thank you so much for this great video.
Is the first "Israel Phenomenology" that I see and... GREAT!!! I just love it.
You all realy, realy Unpacked!!!!
I’m so glad I found these videos. And to be able to learn about the Ethiopian and Druze here has helped me appreciate Israel so much more.
What’s the connection between Ethiopians and Druze?
@@enock83
No connection.
both of us israeli ❤ druze are the best 🇮🇱🇸🇨
grateful for you. @@elireu09
Well done Chloe. How do you handle the multiple personality syndrome tho? When we visited last we had a wonderful lunch with a Druze family.
A Jewish state is no more a paradox than an English state, a German state, a Japanese state, etc...
@@danielalbo4994unless your talking about the national socialistic workers party.

Great video on the Druze. Fair and unbiased.
"People think Israel is only made up of Jews and Arabs."
"Seriously?"
"What about Christians, Muslims, Bahai, The Bedouin?"
-That's because most Arabs in Israel (and occupied territories) are Muslim, Christian, Bedouin, or Druze.
This was a super interesting video, thank you.
Glad you liked it! Have you checked out any of our other videos?
@@UNPACKEDyep, I have been bingeing them 😁
"Many people think Israel is made up of Jews and Arabs" - the video is fantastic, but it's noteworthy that the Druze are an indigenous Arab people, as are most of the Christians living in Israel / Palestine. In fact, the Druze were involved in some of the earliest anti-colonial, Pan-Arab, nationalist movements in the Middle-east.
Very informative and high quality production.
Thanks!
@@UNPACKED your channel is terrible. Tell Adam Milstein I told him to go back to jail instead of justifying genocides.
Ouch. That's a little mean, don't you think?
@@zionismisracism5029 Even if you don't like the content because of your biases, the channel itself is still produced very well.
You should go back and watch Unpacked's other videos on the dispute in Israel. You will see that Unpacked doesn't fail to mention when mistakes were made by the Israeli side.
@@UNPACKED Don't you think putting out propaganda for ethnic cleansing and apartheid is mean? I mean some of these videos are literally just copy paste from wikipedia.
The Druze are the most respected in Israel.
Wow..first time visitor to your channel..very thorough analysis of a complex issue. Yes, the Druze are very cool!
Really awesome video!!! Thank you bunches. Really cool character play too 🤩
Thanks for the introduction to the Druze.👍 I never even heard of them before this.😳
yeah, Druze are a very small minority in the middle east one of the 22 secterian and ethnicities that the middle east is rich with, and it's normal no one hear about them. :) but unfortunately we are titled in the west directly as terorists if they knew I'm from the middle east XD.
Super fun format. I love the picture in picture with the different takes/alter egos. Super educational. Well done!
Druze community living in israel is one of the luckiest miniority community in the world who is treated equally with respect by Jewish people and State of Israel. On the other hand miniority communities living in other countries are not enjoying such status, mPakistan.
0:49 - 1,000 bonus points for referencing Whovian Time Lords! That was so nerdy therefore so cool!
And the Head of State doubles as the Head of the Church.
Israel is one of the most diverse country in Asia
As a druze i can easily say you went IN-DEPTH in this one
Good stuff and very educative keep it up 👍
Once again u've broadened my horizons. God bless u.
Chloe is great ,love her integrity and honesty..
well actually that's the first video I see it about the religion that I've born in. pretty much precise and good research but yet still missed some stuff which is normal because Druze are a very small community in the middle east, there's also something about Druze as a tip, no one can also enter the religion even if he/she wants, and their ties to the religion is strong, some knows why it's strong becuase it's called "the religion of mind and intellect", some unfortunately don't exactly know why like any other religion where there are people who know nothing about their religion otherthan that they have born in, and also Druze have a very strong ties to thier land no matter who rules it, because they respect everyones way of living in the day to day life and care about prosparety more than political ambitions.
Hope not.
did she killed herself?
Very garbled comment. What is your point?
Wow that actually surprised me, Im druze and Im gonna say suicide is a sin in our religion, if someone from our religion really wants to kill themselves then the reason is gotta be so damn horrible
I wish more black/African Americans did videos like yours! All people deserve at least one state to use to protect themselves.
Enjoyed it although I did not know who you were. Saw you on Coleman Hughes. I too am strongly attracted to Israeli culture, in particular the ladino speaking Sephardi. I hope you get to do something on them. We black folks should walk the earth proudly, but never limit ourselves to what others think we should be. Look forward to your other work.
The Israeli consul in Brazil is druzze. Many druzze who scape from ottoman army recruiting, immigrate to south America.
Jesus Christ had the Durze DNA. That is a fact. Thanks for this great video.
wow, i haven't seen such a well balanced and insightful video that is also entertaining to watch in a very long time.
usually need to sit threw long lecture series to get some of the insights presented so simply and openly here.
well done!
and yes - Israel owes a debt to the Druze that can never be paid back, i was really sorry about how the nation state law hurt them - even though it was aimed at something else.
Avner Senderowicz
Appreciate your comment
The state law didn’t change anything really, only the dignity of the Druze people was a little betrayed. But they live on like they have most of their lives.
