This was my number 1 song on my Spotify. Honestly this album helped me through my grandmother’s passing. The emotions were overwhelming and this album really helped me heal.
I got started on hickory creek, after playing that on repeat till I could sing it in my sleep i listened to the rest of the album and fell in love with doom woods. the Kin came out and im just blown away by Anticure, this song says it all. Phil can do anything, from the heavy deathcore voice to the very oddly calming regular singing, and the way he mixes it all together is like nothing I ever heard. Plan to eventually get a Whitechapel themed tattoo, thank you Whitechapel for being so amazing!!!!!!!
Hey man! Any fan of Whitechapel is welcomed! Im glad you got started with The Valley, I started with their first and have been a fan since. When I heard Hickory Creek I literally teared up because I share the same theme of that song: Loss of your mother. Then he released the Acoustic version and I literally ONLY play that one! Then Kin came out and he has more of his singing in it... it's making me feel like I did when I first heard them! I'm so excited for more projects like this.

No autotune, no BS lyrics, just emotion. Whitechapel still one of my tops and will always be in the game! I like A LOT of heavy bands but let me tell you, their music just hits so damn hard.
This song truly shows the depth and layering of a third guitarist. The mix is also next-level. If you take anything from this album, it’s how ear pleasing it is. I’ve run it front to back 80 times and it never gets old, such a refreshing journey from the Whitechapel sound I love most. It’s not my favorite, but it’s up there in its own way. The distaste that it got from so many fans was disappointing.

Their guitarist made a great point in an interview I saw regarding the evolution of their sound.

I think The Valley might be my favorite metal album of all time honestly, but I think Kin is a masterpiece. People pretending they're aren't "metal enough" anymore need to stop gatekeeping this shit. That kind of attitude is exactly why metal's popularity has been really frozen for a while.

@@gghhyo5799 This song specifically is definitely butt rock. It's basically a chunkier hybrid of Hinder meets Seether. Getting past that, I think it's a wonderful song when you don't try to assign it a genre and I'm glad to hear that Bozeman using his cleans more in moments like these.

I've listened to this song more times than I can count. Phil's clean vocals are on another level and add so much emotion to this song. Sad to see Alex leave the band. His drumming is top notch and a great fit.

this is very much not the core of Whitechapel, that doesn't make it bad, i actually very much like this album, it's just not the Whitechapel that was originally formed. i think musicians are allowed and should be encouraged to deviate. this is exile will always exist and can be repeated infinitely if one so chooses.

When Whitechapel first came up in 2007 I was blown away by Phils growls. Those were ones of the most deep death metal vocals I have heard back in the day.
Now Mr Bozeman started to incorporate clean vocals into the music and the effect is the same. Never though he would manage both worlds that well. Chapeu!

Kin coupled with the Valley has made me a huge Whitechapel fan! Two absolutely stellar albums with a great, emotional story.
I love Whitechapel's heavier music but this is a masterpiece and I'd love a whole album with this music.
Phil singing clean was a bold but wise & rewarding decision.
Whitechapel has been my favorite metal band since 2007 and KIN could be their magnum opus in my opinion. Keep going men. Truly incredible work.
I love kin, it definitely has a few songs that hit the feels but the valley is still my favorite from them

It’s been such a wild ride being the same age as Phil. I’ve been following him since the beginning. I’ve aged along with these albums, each album being so relevant in my life at the time. Lost my dad, almost died from addiction, beat my demons, but I’m still angry. It’s been beautiful, listening to the music mature, while I mature in my own life. One love Phil

I remember last listening to them in high school like 15 years ago, in the age of This is Exile, and just started listening to them again and WOW. They have changed, but it's completely awesome, they've matured so much and I'm all for it.
Band is pure molten fire, and some of the best harsh/clean vocals of any lead singer alive. One of those very rare bands where every GAH-damn thing they record, I just love.

I like how when they released their first clean vocals song (I think it was the one about his mother), Phil went out and said he didn’t want to make music like that if the fans disliked it. Then they waited to see a reaction, and after seeing how well received it was, the band pumped out a ton of killer tracks.

Been listening to these guys since 2007, they have come a long way. This album is amazing and was one of my favorites from 2021. Phil’s vocals and lyrics are so good. A lot of people are disappointed with them doing more clean vocals than they use to. But his clean vocals are so good. Not every band that started out deathcore has to stay the same. It would get really boring after a while if ya heard the same album every couple of years. Bands gotta progress.
And maybe he's into those bands but its deffinitely just not my flavor

Since Kin came out, I’ve had the album on repeat. I really always go back to it even if I’m trying on newer albums of different bands. It’s become my favourite album of all.

"What do you see that I don't see" a question I've always asked anyone who would have me on their life struggling with almost crippling depression this song has genuinely helped me through some hard days. I was never a big Whitechapel fan (I liked just a few of their songs) until I heard Kin, from beginning to end, just a couple of days ago. The entire album blew me the fuck away. I have now gone back through their catalog and found quite a lot of songs that I really like. I now agree with the people that said they thought this was their album of the year last year (along with Eternal Blue.) It is a real masterpiece.
This has become one of my favorite songs. I can't stop listening to it. This why it's so important to have an open mind for music you never know what you will like until you give music a chance and listen to it.

The layered guitarwork is Godlike. I’m not sure if they draw influence from them, but I really hear elements of Opeth and even Deftones in this masterpiece of an album. Amazing video too, you really feel what Phil’s conveying and the artistry is exquisite.
When he sings "I know you're unwell but I'm turning my back on you" it's the most amazing moment of emotion I've ever felt in a song. I tear up every time. And this might be my favorite song of all time...

I saw them in Orlando, I enjoyed all 4 bands a lot honestly. I'd already been a fan of trivium and between the buried and me, but man, khemmis and Whitechapel were pleasant surprises. I'd always known who Whitechapel was, but never really checked them out because it never seemed like my thing. That show made a new fan out of me though

Am I the same not one who has fallen in love with Phil Bozeman’s cleans? Maynard James Keenan eat your heart out. Absolutely phenomenal. This song really showcases what Phil and Whitechapel are capable of as a whole. Completely unrelated but Bloodsoaked Symphony will forever remind me of the Halo Infinite tech preview as I used it as the soundtrack in one of my video edits and it was such an amazing experience. I also have a mother who developed a severe mental health illness last year. It really is heartbreaking to have a parent go through it.

I feel so guilty that I gave up on this band while they are one of my all time favorites and just listening to this song now. This level is really really heartwarming and so close to Progressive metal, specifically OLD OPETH level. I'm so amazed by Phil as always.

No band has grown as much as these dudes. They went from a band i didnt think was much different from any other deathcore band to now having two albums forever in my playlist. They have separated them selves above their genre like many good metal bands.

I absolutely loved this side of whitechapel. To me it opened them to a newer audience and shows they’re more melodic side even if a bit twisted like I prefer.

I love this developement so much.
I think what I like most is that Whitechapel refuse to stick to a label, a clear compartement. This single song has so many different elements, and it's good to see that the focus is on the message, the text, and the feelings they convey. Instruments, Pace, Change in vocal style don't have the goal to make it sound like a certain genre, or to fulfill the idea of a "soft ballad" or a "harsh banger" or whatever. Like, "It can't have more than a short scream part, cause it's a ballad" - or "It can't have clean vocals and soft guitars, it's a deathcore song".
The music follows the poetic dynamic in the exact way needed, and acts as the valve for the feelings and ideas in the song, being fluid and alive.
I love what Whitechapel has become with "Kin". This and "The Valley" will most possibly stay very high up in my alltime favourite albums, ever.
