I saw the same bull while kayaking Helldiver in August of 2014. Love the new re-done campsites out there. Can't forget telling a waitress the following morning near Indian Lake and she seemed not at all surprised, Harold is a local celebrity!
Such serenity and beauty. Harold is very graceful for such a large creature. It amazes me how easily he carries those huge antlers. Thank you so much for sharing this lovely video.
There are few things in this world we can accurately describe with one term. This is one of those things. And that term is "beautiful". Thank you for this upload. I haven't felt this at peace in a long while.
that is a beautifully shot video, not intrusive at all allowing the animal to be calm. that lil spot you got there looks so peaceful...sunrise there is gorgeous i bet
Wow, I thought this would have been in Canada. To see that it was filmed in New York, wow. I was not expecting that! It's good to know that there is still some amazing, untouched wilderness, even in New York. Thank you for sharing this footage of what I consider to be one of North America's most majestic animals.
Yeah, as a resident of New York I can tell you that we aren’t just a big city. We actually happen to have the largest state park in the lower 48. It’s protected under the NY constitution and can’t be altered and must remain forever wild. That’s why there are many rare creatures remaining in the Adirondack mountains. Love to have all of that in my backyard. It really does look like Canada though. 😅
He really seemed to be. I don't do this very often with wildlife, but am curious about his thoughts. Maybe it's because - with such great presence - it seems impossible for him not to have some big ones. 😊❤
Going down to the lake I came upon the biggest moose I had ever seen. He was not only magnificent, but powerful. His energy was experienced as goosebumps surging throughout my body. Lovely video.
Finding this video was like finding a gem in a mountain stream. You have captured the spirit of that animal and all I can hope is that he can continue to live in that pristine environment.
A few years ago my girlfriend and I were riding my motorcycle on woods roads in northern Maine, { the Jackman region } we counted about 50 different moose that we saw in our six hour trip that day. Magnificent animals.
I worked in the Moose River plains for 5 seasons and saw many moose. We saw one run into the woods and the path of broken 3 inch trees was unbelievable as he simply mowed them down with ease.
+gravityking, Do you think people who hunt Moose have any less appreciation for them? There is no need for the argumentative comment. North America's Moose population, while it has some issues, is fairly robust and healthy. Hunting-related taxes and fees are the primary reason we've been able to manage and study them so effectively.
Sportsmen are the reason we still have these animals in the lower 48. If it weren't for regulated hunting public land would be sold off and market hunters would have cleared these animals a hundred years ago.
For this size rack in mid-July, yes, about 1600 pounds, perhaps a bit more....I'd found shed antlers in Maine, my home, easily double what's on this moose, his early growth. in July.... hard to understand they grow back every year. Sometimes I miss Maine
Wow! beautiful video!! could I use it to show it to kids at school? they are learning about the moose, and I'm trying to find a nice video for them. :)
I was stationed at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage Alaska. Saw plenty of these beautiful animals out in the woods on the base. Once I was jogging behind my barracks on a trail and a female moose was just lying there. I quickly turned around in case she had a boyfriend nearby!!
+Steve Barnum thanks you! Could you tell me what pond or river you were on exactly? I need to go here!! What pond or river did you see this moose? Thanks!
Josh Bukoski Camping at helldiver is not a for the inexperienced! And chances of seeing a moose is remote at best! Kind of like winning the n.y.s lottery!
We've been camping in the Moose River Recreation Area since it first opened in 1963 and Helldiver was one of our favorite spots to camp having a fireplace, privy and picnic table as did all of the original 140 + sites and Helldiver Pond was but a short walk from the campsite itself. Sadly, as happened to others out of disrespect - the site needed continuous work by state employees to keep it repaired and usable and finally the site was abandoned and made into a large parking area for those that came to enjoy Helldiver Pond itself. This is not to say that there aren't other great campsites not far from Helldiver which makes it still possible to camp nearby and enjoy the entire area. We have been seeing this Bull Moose off and on for over 10 years - as it's antlers continue to grow. One year we had this bull come right into our camp a quarter of a mile down the road.We had seen him enough times to be able to identify him. Other years we saw him on the Plains, an area that was called the Indian Clearing by the old timers as the Indians use to burn it off to produce a Blueberry crop each year that it's still famous for though not as numerous as they one were. As with all wild animals there is no certainty in seeing them - but if you look for them early in the mornings and just before dark in the evenings- your chances are increased. If you enjoy remoteness in camping and realize you should have everything with you that you will need - as that the nearest facilities are nearly an hour away due to the distances and primitive roads - than you will certainly enjoy camping in the Moose River recreation area - it's a special place for sure.
Thanks for the long response. I just went camping there 2 weeks ago. The MRP gate was closed so I had to hike in. I saw many miles of moose tracks and some were almost a foot long. I saw no moose but it was a great trip. When there is no people, helldiver is my favorite pond.
❤❤❤Wow, such a magnificent creature!!! What an AWESOME video. 😄This must have been such an honor & humbling experience for you to be able to just sit there in your kayak & watch him at such a close distance but yet not to upset or disturb him. He knew you were there yet he wasn't bothered by you at all. He was calmly settled & happily pottering about munching away!! You are so lucky to have been able to have experienced this & Thank you so very much for sharing your video. I was in awe whilst watching it. Again, just AWESOME!!! ❤❤❤ P. s. Is this the same moose Harry that was in your video in 2011? As I noticed both of the moose have white markings in the same area on their back legs/hocks or do most moose have these markings or similar there??
This was so calming & beautiful. I felt like I was in the boat too ♥️
He has the sweetest eyes I've ever seen. He truly is a beautiful animal.
Desiree Beck until they stomp on your head as they sometimes do... moose attack more people than all other animals combined

@@bruhmagic1323 Well, Canada and NY state do share a frontier. It's pretty much the same in some parts. Except, the roads in Canada suck.
@@hugolafhugolaf yeah, northern Adirondacks are boreal forest which is the primary environmental biome in southern Canada.
@@bruhmagic1323 yup
Absolutely fabulous footage and he was posing for you!
