    I've watched tons of TH-cam videos on this process and yours is the simplist setup and easiest to do. Thank you very much.

    Thanks Uncle Bob, there's something's I like what you did, like you were outside with plenty of ventilation; you added food coloring to show the water/ethanol layer; you added plenty of water, lots of people tell you to add 1 cup per gallon and you added 1/2 a gallon! That means most likely you removal all of the ethanol at one time instead of doing this a second time to see if there's any ethanol remaining. AND that clear tube with a shut off valve is the icing on the cake. A million thanks for sharing. Be safe my new friend.

      Hey Chuck, I’ve been running my lawnmower and small equipment for the last few years without ethanol and they run better than they ever have! PS: Ethanol had ruined my chainsaws!

    Excellent demonstration. Adding the food coloring is a really great idea as well.

      Yes, no rocket science and precise measuring here! Just add plenty of water which will separate from the gas along with the ethanol.

    We now have a station nearby that sells pure gasoline. It is a little pricey but worth it for my small equipment.

      We have no stations around here that sells ethanol free gas other than 5 gallon Sunoco racing fuel at 75 dollars a piece! Better doing it yourself, then you know what you’re getting.

      My only concern with buying it is how fresh is the non ethanol fuel from the gas station because they aren't selling it very fast at the price they charge for it. I'd bet this is the best way to get fresh ethanol free fuel..

      Definitely the ethanol free gas sets in the station's tank, often it gets so old that chainsaws won't run properly with it. I have a different solution to removing the ethanol.

    I think the tip of putting a few drops of food coloring in the water is a great idea. Thanks! And food coloring is water soluble so it it will mix with the water/alcohol but, like water, it won't mix with the pure gas. As I'm sure you know, if you mark how much water is in your water bottle before you pour it in the gas can and then drain the alcohol/water back into the water bottle, you can see how much alcohol was in the gas. Anything above the water line is the equivalent of how much alcohol that was in the gas. Of course, that's not necessary but it doesn't involve any more effort and it's just interesting to see how much alcohol was in the gas. Thanks very much for posting this. Of all the methods I've see for doing this so far, this is the one I like the most.

    And you should remove ethanol from fuel when your vehicle will not be used extended period of time, because ethanol will slowly absorb water from air in tank and will clog your injectors and/or rust your fuel tank

    • @oldcountryman2795
      @oldcountryman2795 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. Lead was used only because it was cheaper than ethanol for raising octane.
      2. Today it is impossible to have an octane rating above 100 without adding ethanol (alcohol) to the gasoline. Removing the ethanol lowers the octane rating of the gasoline. Removing the ethanol from 87 octane gasoline will leave you with a rather low octane fuel that is probably not suitable for most modern engines.

    If the gasohol at the gas station is already mixed with color, can you see that there is only real gasoline left? The color will adhere out with the alcohol and pure gas will be colorless?

    • @unclebobcarpenter6079
      @unclebobcarpenter6079  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, there is a definite difference. The ethanol and water is heavier than the gasoline and will always sink to the bottom of the container. The gasoline will appear clear. My small engines have never run better!

      The ethanol percentage is posted right on the gas station pump, when you fill up. Can you not read? It's usually only 10 percent. Most of that water coming out is the water he poured in, at the beginning of the video. You are either not a smart person or a troll.

    Sunoco stations offer ethanol free 110 octane racing fuel. But at currently here $4.75 a gallon not worth it unless you drive a race car. Higher octane does nothing for engines rater for 87 or 89 fuel you are just wasting money.

    I had this idea and would like to ask what you guys and girls think. You put the die in the water, added the water to the gasoline and gave it a good shake. Then let the water settle to the bottom of the container. Now freeze it. Then tip the gasoline into another can leaving the frozen water at the bottom of the first container. would the ethanol freeze with the water?
