God, this song is such an underrated gem for like 1999 when techno and house crossed over into mainstream rock. Thrill Kisser is a FANTASTIC album if you like this groove.
I saw these guys live in Brighton, they supported Babybird. Absolutley brilliant live, i brought the album and a few singles, the remix i have of disconnected child is amazing! We love you Tinstar!
I listened 2 this cd when I was pregnant. I found it in my bfs's collection. He bought it bc he'd liked the cover. It reminds me of how insane that time of my life was though. I'm in my nesting phase & he's letting every psycho in town into our shithole apt. We had no money & yet someone would always show up with beer or pot so he'd always be fucked up. After I had my bsby I thought he straighten up but he thought I'd pop out the kid, leave her with my mom& go back 2 the bars with him. I was done with that though. I'd be laying in bed nursing our baby& his shitlord friends would come stumbling through knocking over the changing table on the way to the bathroom. I loved him but I couldn't live that life so I packed up my baby & left. I had nothing but it was so liberating. All I had was a new matress I shared w my baby, a lamp, a tv, a high chair, an X box, a dresser & breast pump but I was so relieved to be away from the craziness. I've come a long way but he still lives that life.
I saw them on MTV2 back in the day. It is a friggin shame that they are not huge. I played out their cd before MP3's and now they are STILL on my Ipod. =D Good memories. The whole Thrill Kisser cd is still a great cd to listen to front to back. Love it.
Only reason i know this song.. A bum in michigan found tapes in a garbage can and brought them to a antique store to get beer money. I bought the tapes and 1 tape was a michigan radio station playing this on their local talent show.. I thought they were from michigan all this time!
I got this track on a freebie CD called 'Sounds Essential Vol 2''. I used it for a Mock GCSE Music exam as it contains quite a few of the Musical characteristics for Listening tests such as Ostinato, effects pedals, recitative, vocal harmony, word painting and of course the lyrics were quite appropriate for struggling year 11's. I bet the band never expected it to be used in that capacity. Too good to be given away as a freebie but it was part of the launch of new bands.
What a good find. Loved this when it came out. Caught a small snippet on a movie and thanks to Utube and adepler found this. First time I have seen the clip. Brilliant
