love your videos. What I don't get is why you chance from an alpine butterfly to a figure 8 on a bite... I get the 2 points off contact but don't see the advantage in this. Sorry if this is a realy stupid question but it seems I am missing a point here.... no disrespect intended!!
I'm sorry Richard. Did not make myself clear. I get why you would want to have 2 independent lines. What I mean is that I just keep myself locked in the first line and make a second alpine butterfly on the retrievable site. then do the same as you do with the figure8 to make 2 climbing lines. I don't see the point in detaching myself and changing the knots. But your video's are always making sense to me. I must be missing the point in this video so.... :-)
+Waldo Desteghe I understand what you're saying , just like using the tail or other half of your line to set up another line anywhere. What I do here can be made from a base anchor or canopy anchor and only requires 1 piece of hardware or quickie. So best answer , it just takes one quickie and those can be expensive.
Richard, Nice video, Thank you! Could you send some of your weather to the North! :-)

To make it 2 Independent lines, both of which can be climbed. it is no longer retrievable from the ground.

How do you tension and keep tension on the line?
The anchored end on the ground has Petzl Rig and a 3:1 RADS setup is used to tension.
Thanks! Please keep the videos coming!
do you climb on that new quickie shackel now? can you lock it?
I do. yes, takes 4 actions to open or unlock it. I'm feeling secure with it.
