Matador makes great packable day packs. I use the 16L On Grid which I believe is a predecessor to the Refraction series. It has served me well. At 17.5x10.5x8 it is shaped a little different and is a better personal item than the Freefly at 19x10x6
Please do one on the beast series! Ive been super interested in that for something that can hold fishing and camera equipment for day hiking from a backpack campsite
I wouldn’t say one is “better” than the other. More of a different focus. The FreeFly is better weather sealed and more “outdoor” focused. The Refraction looks to be an all-rounder. So depends on your use case.

The Freefly16 is a 16 liter high-performance weatherproof daypack that compresses for travel. Best For: Ultralight travel and wet conditions 16 liter capacity Weatherproof Packable-includes compression sack for travel As shared with Matador Malaysia.
I’ve used a similar pack from Outdoor Research for many years, it also packs like it isn’t even there. Do your fellow pilots use bags that you suggest? How many of them watch your channel?

Nice!

The Beast is great but not planning on it at the moment
@@JBOutside1 no worries mate! Thank you for fulfilling all of my mystery ranch fan boy rabbit holes
I do something similar with a Mystery Ranch In/Out. It’s so thin when empty, I put it on the bottom of my carryon flat, and it barely takes any room.
Nice!
I also use In and Out 19L. Had it for years and holding strong 💪
Tad Azimuth all day. But looks like a nice option since those are hard to get.
gotcha. Yeah stuff from TAD is such a love/hate. Love the gear, hate the limited access

@@JBOutside1 awesome thanks! Is the back pack pretty easy to repack and store in a larger bag?
@@dakotaconcepcion5398 yep
Hey JB is this better than the Refraction series packable daypack?

Good stuff on the OR. I have had a few pilots mention me, but not many. I do get consulted on travel choices quite often though
@@JBOutside1 Well this lapsed low-time private pilot is a devoted follower. Keep up the good work but get outside!
You said “pretty big” but I think you meant “really small”
Whoops 😬 👊🏻
