Got the new model off of Marketplace. They were moving to an apartment and don't need it anymore. $100 later I got "looks brand new" and starts ok with minimal pulls. Great video on learning what the edger does before using it the first time. Happy so far.
Tool Review Zone We just used this edger this morning for the first time, and it did a great job. Started easily every time. We have quite a large yard to edge, and it hasn’t been edged in a couple of years, so my husband had to cut a few sections twice, which we expected, but this edger powered through. Next, he’s going to try the curb hopping feature. Just wanted to let you know it was a good first experience.
Great tutorial, just got mine and used it today, still learning, but in time I think I'll get pretty good at using it, didn't realize all the extra features, thanks!
@@ToolReviewZone how is everything going everything has been all good you and the family all staying safe i hope everything is all good nothing but love and respect for you brother keep up the great videos
I like this edger and you did a great job with the review. I wish the manufacturer would make this unit (maybe it does) be able to except bed eager blades. At 79 cc’s I don’t think it would have the power needed to edge beds. But make a beefier version with a 212cc engine and a lockable caster front wheel and a couple sets of blades. Who wants 2 machines taking up space when you could have one machine that will do both jobs!
people no matter what other people say stop using gas with Ethanol in it that is why so make people cannot start their small engine equipment and you see them in the trash. It is because the carburetor gets clogged from regular gas even when you use fuel stabilizers. I replaced all my equipment with new carburetor’s (they are around $11 on Amazon) and switched to Ethonal free gas about 5 years ago and have never had a problem since
@@christopherjames7233 I would try the ethanol free gas AND put a couple oz of sea form in it, if you only used it once it is unlikely the gas is the cause though
@@littleeddie133 Thank you. I have one more question. Are you saying to put a couple of ounces of seafoam in a 5-gallon gas can or directly in the first tank of ethanol-free gas?
Glad I Watched Your Video Thanks For The Information I Have A New One and Was Having A Problem Starting It The Manual Never Tell You To Use The Choke With One Pull and Then Put It Back Into Run lol Thanks
Your rear wheel stem for adjusting on curb looks different than the one on home depot site. How do you know which is the older or newer version? Great review thanks.
Rembering the days at the grandparents house and starting my quest to like handyman work starting with the garden tool the trimmer and manual trimmer the hedgers and the beautiful cool looking gardens around Michigan reppin Flint Michigan.
Can I edge near my house? I’m pretty good going down the sidewalk or even near the curb but I’d like to know if it’s OK to use this near the house and also at a wooden fence! Thanks
Buddy of mine traded me this for one of my weedeaters. It's the same features but the older motor, runs okay but I have a Honda gx120 motor sitting unused, thinking about swapping it on
The old models, the fuel line will rub the throttle cable. It wont start right or run well under load. Move the fuel line a bit. Clean the air filter. Pick up one that someones pissed at. Do those things. Edge stress free. Dont be stupid.
Hey everybody I have this, and one thing is terrible. There is no blade guide down at the bottom of the blade. The blade is compleatly worn down in 2 seasons used only3 to 5 times a year. The blade is constantly scraping the cement. I have gotten better at steering ....but truth be told its not like the older briggs and stratten models of days old....kind of a pain in the ass while you scape yourself into embarrasment. Otherwise a good machine. Im going to modify and add a sheet metal pieace next to the blade tha will run along in the little trench next to the blade. I hope everbody understands what im talking about.
Getting a nice collection of lawn care equipment I'm starting to get people throwing out stuff because the seasons changing and either they went and bought something new or didn't drain all the gas out but just found a 16in Ryobi electric chainsaw works perfectly fine I need to get a new chain because the one they had was too big but came with a bag with extra parts so Nuts and Bolts wrenches Allen keys next either I'm going to go buy a new lawn mower or find one in the garbage soon enough because I need one for the rental house what do you recommend eventually it's just going to be too small pieces of grass because I'm building a Monster Garage to pull my trucks in my trailer so I'm not going to have a lot of grass what do you recommend like a Ryobi battery operated or small electric lawn mower what brands do you like
I'm surprised you haven't came across the older version on these Joseph. I haven't tried any if the ryobi mowers, but I du have the Echo battery powered and live it
@@ToolReviewZone I just don't want to spend that much money the property is huge but eventually when I build a garage in the back that's going to be all concrete and the side is going to be concrete there's just going to be the front of the house which is probably 10' x 12' and the other spot of grass is 10' by 20' so I'm really not dealing with a lot of grass I don't want to get a cheap gas lawn mower and have problems so I figured by a corded or small battery operated lawn mower
@@ToolReviewZone I was looking on Home Depot's website they have a small lawn mower for $99 and another one $150 so that's what I'm going to go with thanks again brother
there are easier motorized edgers out there. Drop the wheel(curb hop) that this one, where one is moving the wheel all over...Doesn't make me want to pick this one
Don't know what model this is. But I purchased one. Tilt too far the oil leaks out. The spark plug wire will come away from the cap. And it's really low power. So call 79cc
Sucks that I bought the crappier model last year! Will only start with starting fluid in the carb & the “curb hopper” wheel in back is not very user friendly. Thanks for the video!
Very thorough review of this edger and I picked up some tips I didn't know about. Thank you!

Boy they really made a really good edger this time, when I look at what I had to use 30 40 years ago.they came along really nice
Lol, yeah times have definitely changed bro

Awesome updates. This is a win. I am trying to get away gas power ope. Glad to see companies listening to consumers 👍
Absolutely John. Its great when they make things right bro
Well, your video helped seal the deal for this edger. Thanks
Spot on with the current review! The previous model was ok but as you pointed out, it was hard starting and the outward wheel ajustment was awkward.
Wish you show the tilting side on lawn
My dad has those same old work loafers!!! They are his roofing shoes. We gave him such a hard time for those.
I just bought this before the review, thank you for the tips
You are very welcome!
Great video and review Clint
Two years on does it still start and run nicely???? Any concerns?
What year model is this one I like your rear wheel adj. mine has a different one.
Could you tell me what they changed to make it easier to start? Is it something I can buy to add my old-style edger?
You just help me make my decision. Thanks for the video.
They did a great job updating this Slack. You'll really like it 👊
Is this machine effective going around curved garden beds? I see none of the wheels steer. Is that a problem? Thanks
this looks like a good product. I may need to consider getting one. i have not edge my lawn in for ever. :)
I just used it again today and love it
That is slick that is a sweet idea to do that with the machine I've never seen that before that is a cool machine
Yeah Joseph, that's what I really liked about it in the past, but now that it actually starts, its awesome! Lol

That's a nice machine. The price is nice too. Great review 👍
Thanks for the comment and feedback Gurwinder!!!
Deciding to buy this or not, your video clinched it ~!
Now that they fixed the issues with it, it's a great edger

yup👍 works good and is cheaper than the others 🙀👍

Would like to use standard 1" pilot hole blades and test " the golden edger" blade on it. Thanks
Are a couple of sparks OK? I keep touching the sidewalk sometimes... so should I just keep going and doing slight adjustments as I walk?
Sure, it's 100% normal 👊
What ballpark figure ?
Great video!
What model is this price
Wow! Bro, you got your bedroom slippers on? Stylish. I'm wondering if it can cut steel if you put a Torch Nitrus saw blade on it.
Haha, definitely have to stay comfortable when doing yard work Grand lol I may need to try the Torch blades ok this 😁
What’s the model number for the 2nd gen??
I still like the Mclane 4 wheel edger
Haven't tried that one yet Flat

Where can I pick one up, Home Depot is always sold out been trying to find one for weeks.
You can buy mine lol don’t start
I have a Powermate now, got it about July 2020 but love it and it has started every time.
Have the same edger and I’m having trouble starting it what can I do it’s only few weeks old??
Any oil leakage? I am looking at this and two other edgers in the same price range.
Non so far Michael
Is this designed for a lawncare professional who's constantly on the go or is this for home owners?
Definitely home owner Sara
Why all the adjustments when you can just turn the edger around and edge it from the lawn side?
😂 will not be smooth.
Its like the Mars Rover of edgers! Love it!

I don’t think they make any of them these days with that metal guide blade so you don’t scrape up your concrete. Sad because it’s a nice feature.
I have one of these and I don't like how floppy and sloppy the cutting head is. I was I spent a few hundred more and bought a Mclane.

Doesn't do me any good when the one I bought 7 years ago doesn't start and never did start easy. Piece of crap! Contacted them but no reply so far!
Do yourself a favor and look for a used Mclane edger, heavy duty and made in USA, it will last for decades, everything else is a waist of time
You can cover up a piece of crap and you know what? It’s still a piece of crap. Do not waste your money.
This edger sucks. The carburetor will eventually leak. The replacement V band will cost you $67 and the pulley system will give out.
