    Yes, the Chiba monorail is quieter than the Shonan monorail, even though they use the same basic technology. I don't agree with you that a suspended train uses more energy than a train that sits on the guideway. I really don't see the difference. The load wheels interact with the guideway the same way as any other rubber tired train. The only difference is that I don't think the Chiba and Shonan monorail guideways are banked, or super-elevated. The vehicles make up for that naturally due to centrifugal force.

    Fantastic shots as always, Luke!
    I can't get over how complicated some of those support structures are - especially that big interchange section where the two lines meet up.
    I noticed that the guideway beams are supported on what looks like cushions mounted onto each of the support hoops - I wonder if that's part of why it is so quiet?

      Yes, the guideway structure seems more heavy than straddle monorails. It can look quite elegant at times though. I agree that the interchange area is a monstrosity!
      This system seems to be impervious to heavy snow and weather, so application in these climates would be ideal.

    Must of been very expensive to build. but no doubt that it is quiet and resistant to crappy weather, also looks cool with all the buildings adapted to its shape.

    1:40 I was just wondering how cool it would be for a suspended monorail like this to have see-through glass floors lol

      Yes, the new trains have these small glass floors in the cab area. I wish they had more areas in the passenger cabin, but that might be too scary for some passengers.

    I think japan is the only country uses so widely monorail.

      China now seems to be leaning towards monorail in many cities.

    better sound than th-cam.com/video/AXtAf1550Hg/w-d-xo.html but still funny design decision. why should it hang?!!!! wastage of power because the energy is spent on overcoming gravity is on the train's clamp/grip (to the rail) rather than the rail/bridge itself, this struggle is synonymous to your hand while hanging from a tree's branch vs sitting on one. obvious reasons. Verdict more of a showoff than smart design.

      Not only that, during evacuation normal monorail would be faster/easier to do

      timi Akogun the reason this design was used is that normal monorails do not work as well in icy and snowy conditions, and that the support structure naturally protects the rail from the weather.
