I don't need Irene in season 5. Her story is told. Sherlock met Irene never again after he saved her. She was only a nice memory to him. It's like in the original ACD story or in the Granada Holmes adaptation. All others would contradict the original canon. Sorry, it's my opinion.

I love Sherlock. But this ending was just bad... They had some cool scenes in the last episode, it was entertaining to watch and everything... But I was expecting much, much more.
The only realistic ship is Sherlock with John. Like in in the ACD stories or in the Granada Holmes series was Irene Adler only in the episode "A scandal in Bohemia." Sherlock Holmes never met her again after her start in a new life. And the original ACD canon is only Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson for over hundred years.

And the reason why irene wasn't present any other episodes except for her mentions in 'The last vow(she is his pressure point)', 'the signs of three(she is naked in his mind palace)','the abominable bride '(he litreally has her photo in his pocket watch) 'the lying detective '(she the 1st one to wish him birthday') and 'the final problem' because Moffat and gatiss didn't want romance to be among this show's main genres(which I really appreciate ) cause this is a mystery thriller show. And we find that they secretly have feelings for each other(they will never admit it cause they describe love as a disadvantage ). I don't know how viewers like you can ignore them.

Actually you should know Irene was just a memory too in the original story, here Holmes kept her photo in his desk drawer, and in Tab which mostly happened in Sherlocks head he kept her photo in his watch.
