I started busking out of necessity around 1992, So it wasn't until the pandemic that I bought a kit. My wife wanted me to get it. She didn't care for it much, but it sparked her interest. My son on the other hand, he is 5 and still nonverbal, but he started turning coffee cups upside down and moving them around, so I dug the old kit out and got the plastic cups for him. They are good because if he gets upset, he can throw them. They are cheap, so much easier to replace. This year, my wife talked me into getting a Marvin's Card Magic kit. I hate card tricks, but it is funny thing to do. To this day, I only do 2 kits using cards and one is pulling the spectator's card out of a shutting old style skunk like trap.

Correction, I will have 3 card tricks next season, but it is too large and too pricey to put in a kit.

I also like the card that comes with some kits where you can show a different number of diamonds everytime you turn the card over

Oh the one kind of like Crazy Dots. I've seen that in a few kits.

@@coreyharrismagic exactly, it's easy but not too easy, perfect for a beginner magic kit in my opinion

Great ideas,I have some suggestions, maybe a stripper deck with booklet, sponge balls with napkins instead of balls but teach the same principles,,for a gaff coin
dime and penny is inexpensive and has all the advantages and presentations of a scotch and soda, professors night- mare the equal unequal ropes is a classic, linking rings and a change- bag both with booklets would be plen

To work on,any kit no matter what is in it ,is only as good as the instructions ,your idea of a video link is key, maybe different magicians teaching each trick.

Yes, maybe instructions a long the lines of Easy to Master Card Miracles, Take some one that their expertise is the items that they would be talking about. That way you would get exposure to more magicians and different teaching styles along the way.

I think Shin Lim made a decent starter kit with more up to date effects.

I haven't seen Shin's, I know I've heard a lot of mixed reactions to it though.
