how is anyone saying that the combo into soul steal is unfair lol, it takes a quarter of a single bar and no one even knew you could combo into it, it's impractical as fuck and the fact that it was used to take the tournament deserves props, not salt
Top 8 was held in the smash room (that's where the stage was) and the announcements were constantly made over the mic through the PA system which was 2x louder than the game. Outside of half way into grand finals of AE, there was actually no sound, for any of the games. Chris was upset because he couldn't hear any assist because you couldn't hear the game at all and announcements were extra loud on stage.
I think the arcade sticks have a headphone jack so that each player has a way to hear the game audio without interference from the crowd, sometimes the headset wires can have shorts in them from a lot of use, or the mufflers on the headsets can't block out all of the noise from the crowd, but as yipes was saying maybe it was a stall tactic to slow down filipino champ's momentum

Champ's Dorm/Doom shell nets him bars before any of his characters die. Though they may not be the most entertaining (I don't mind watching their matches), both of their styles are really effective.

They've obviously found a good way to go about it. Just because you don't want to watch morri-doom or phoenix doesn't mean that they don't win tournaments when played well.

1) Different character requires different patterns / timing on assist calls. You need to be knowledgeable of the game and it is not just spamming 236M214S. An example is watch how ChrisG plays against Varja, he is constantly aware of the assist and punishes it every time when called unmasked. 2) Morrigan actually have hard matchups, she is not invincible. It is that ChrisG plays it well. The start of the match against wolverine for example is an example of a hard obstacle for Morrigan.
Morrigan: High chip damage with fire balls, very strong meter gain assist, extremely strong jumping S, Still able to gain meter while in astral vision (other characters like ryu, dante and wolverine power ups do not allow them to gain meter in that state), can steal meter with her fire balls, has the most health out of all female characters buy a pretty big margin other than shehulk. Can someone please tell me if there is anyone as strong as morrigan or anything close to that?
Because if they ban characters the game will essentially be boring in it's own right. You cannot justify banning Phoenix without banning Doctor Doom, Morrigan, Vergil, Wesker, Spencer, Zero, and a few others. Once you start banning, you open up controversy on other characters deserving of the ban.
it's not really fighting 'four characters', phoenix is balanced around dark phoenix and you have to have an effective setup to even get her out. she also has no health and damage outside of dark phoenix form; that's the whole point of using her as a character (look how fast she gets bodied in the first match; she doesn't even last 3 seconds into the combo)
It obviously works for him and yes he is playing for money too, plus it's not cheap, if it was other players would use it. He is the only player that makes it work that good so..
Welll.... Zero has TOD combos pretty free. Doom has a better S, easy high damage corner combos, a strong level 3. Can combo off of throws. C-Viper his hard and has inescapable mix-ups. Vergil can lock you down consistently for pretty much free using his swords. Not to mention that all of these characters have great assists.
it is a lot of spam and with the same skill over and over largely....however he does it very carefully and cleverly and seems to be very good at calling what he should do in many a situation! I would love to be able to spam with as much skill and care as he manages to cause its pretty obvious as I've seen plenty of others try that it isn't that simple!
My reasoning, now it seems Chris G stops everyone's mobility. I'm not necessarily saying he's a bad player, He is very good but being able to steal pheonix's meter and handling other situation's makes his main team one of the best in the FGC.
I agree, if you playing for about 100$+ you bet you ass you'll do what ever it takes to win, Some people will play fair here and there (its the name of the game at times respect your zones or get completly killed) but that wont last long, you get it and you win or you lose money.

bullet hell is way more fair than phoenix. Just take a look with your own eyes. The match ends about 20 seconds after dark phoenix comes out. At least in bullet hell, you can block and random factor the opponent out. One takes actual skill to maintain consistency throughout while the other needs skill to get 5 bars.
Honestly, it takes minimal skill to do what ChrisG is doing 80% of these matches. A Phoenix team is probably the best team to go with. It's not the player, it's the team that gets ChrisG that far. Deny it if you want but that's a cold hard fact.

Fix the unfair meter gain or give all characters meter gain durring their supers. Make the game balanced. Or just add captain commando back. 😆
