Thank you for this. I am starting a 60x30 shower project and have a niche that looks like that. Haven't done shower tile and this will really help me. Great idea on the quartz shelf.
THANK YOU AZIM!!! I have watched many niche installations but your's really the most detailed and easy to follow . I will be follow your TH-cam skills! You are VERY skilled and talented. You have made my life easier! God Bless and Happy New Year!
@@AZIMBAYO1 kool,I'm from Melanie East Coast. It's funny I was looking up info on TH-cam n stumbled on this video. I do construction in Jersey too,HIC contractor. Nice videos man.
I watched a lot of videos on TH-cam about making a niche however you’re the only one who talks about the slope be in 1/8 and that’s the answer I was searching for.
Azim, thank you for your tiles videos. You have the best tile niche videos on youtube. I tiled my niche exactly the way you do and professional results. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice job. I used the same profile instead of a bull nose tile at the end of the shower wall. I found it to be less forgiving in that area because the thinset grit and the material thickness raise it off the wall slightly. This causes your wall tile to be at a very slight angle on the wall. Combine that with the cut edge of the ceramic tile is slightly thicker than the factory edge and not the tile sits slightly proud of the profile. Fitting you to pray the grout line will make it look somewhat acceptable. On the shower niche you can use all factory edges and fill in behind the profile with thinset so it has a much cleaner look. If I had to do it all over again I would have special ordered a profile to match the cut edge of my tile. No one seems to stock a variety of sizes in the polished nickel. Just pointing that out for your viewers. Your installation looks perfect.
You can use thin spots of construction adhesive to get the whole profile channel against the wall tight, with temporary screws before tiling anything and it shouldn't have any bump out issue. I just remove most of the back butter thinset from the channel thickness part of the tile.
I was able to find a threshold piece of marble that you would use for a door threshild. It was I think ...32 inches. I cut it very easily w a wet tile saw. Fit perfectly and looks great. Its very smooth and water runs off it extrelemy well. Love this video bc it really opened my eyes to a great way to finish off my niche. I also added LED lighting.
Looks great! The only thing I’d do differently esthetic-wise, is match the tile orientation on the linear drain to the rest of the shower floor…that would make it more seamless looking.
Absolutely beautiful work and equally fantastic step by step process! I do have a question: why did you use 3 pieces for the top inside of the niche vs. 1 longer piece? My husband and I are cuter working on our bath remodel and are just wondering why you did it in 3 pieces across the top. Thanks in advance
Excellent work and great video! I am getting ready to do stacked 12x24 and a 2 foot wide niche because I only have 2 mosaics. Wondering why you went up past the 2nd tile and wider than the 2 tiles?
I'm sure that shower will hold up for years , well done...I would say however that you don't really need to make those dog ears on sill, as once you install the side nitche pieces you would have a half inch dog ear naturally without notching and I believe that's enough without having to worry about them ever being broken off. Also when installing the mosiac tiles on nitche back you should space a slight joint against sill , this way the grout or better yet silicone has a space to go in. I never butt tiles to tiles without a slight gap.. .
What blade are you using? Also could you have tiled the back first and let it extend to the bottom edge of the niche, then installed the bottom ledge to butt up with the back tiles like you did with the sides and top of the niche?
Well I'm working on my first bathroom tile project and I have a new appreciation for those that are good at this. This is a challenge but I'm getting there. What is your favorite grout? Are you familiar with Laticrete Spectralock 1 premixed grout? Thanks again. Jeff
Thank you for a great video! You answered all of the questions I had for the project I was working on (even what edging I wanted to use. The AE100 looks amazing! The niche looks great!
It's a good video. I was surprised to see the chipped edges between the tile and the profile, or why you wouldn't take a diamond pad and polish those tile chipped edges before setting the tile. Grout doesn't cover chips. Also that the anchor legs weren't embedded in thinset before setting tile over them. Anyway, still hard work and looks good.
Nice work. Couple questions please... when cutting the mosaic yile. What are you placing under the sheet to cut? Also, when cutting glass mosaics, do I need a special blade or use the porcelain blade I have? Thanks a bunch Jeff
Nice work. Question.. are you using a 7" blade on a 10" saw? I was thinking of doing that myself too lessen the radius. Do you see any problem with doing that? Thanks again Jeff
Salam brother Azim. GREAT WORK!! very proud of your work MA! question? This hand grinder? How did you remove cover? Usually the grinders sold have have protection cover. Did you remove it? Or you bought it as is. If so what is brand name Salam

Do you leave a gap between the metal trim pieces and the wall tile?
Is the edge you filed against the back tile or the metal trim?

Leave room between the metal and tile for grout, I also believe water can get inside the miter cuts because there is no grout between the miter joints

Amazing Work. Question. Where i can found the quartz base?
Clean work my boy
Your jobs are very neat
Really like the quartz shelf. what thickness is that and where would I get something like this?
It's 1 1/4 inches
The customer bought it at a local granite fabricator in Orlando Florida
Looks awesome your a master tiler!
where did you buy that big white piece of tile on the bottom of the niche ?
It's a good video. I was surprised to see the chipped edges between the tile and the profile, or why you wouldn't take a diamond pad and polish those tile chipped edges before setting the tile. Grout doesn't cover chips. Also that the anchor legs weren't embedded in thinset before setting tile over them. Anyway, still hard work and looks good.
It looks like between the thinset on the wall and the backbutter of the tile, there will be more than enough thinset to secure the trim.
Nice work. Couple questions please... when cutting the mosaic yile. What are you placing under the sheet to cut? Also, when cutting glass mosaics, do I need a special blade or use the porcelain blade I have?

I use cardboard under the mosaic tile when cutting it.
And I use a blade rated to cut glass tile
@Azim Rahamatali OK good. Thank you

Damn. Couldn't be more leveled than that.

nice job, how much is the quartz shelf protruding out and on the sides?

Hey do you install glass shower doors and panels?
No I do not sorry
Can you tell me, should all the hexagons be flat? Should you be able to feel the edges of each hexagon or should the grout make them flush?
All the tiles should be flat. Use a 1/4 inch trowel to apply the this-set.
Then press the tile in with a grout flot

I have a question, with the 1/8 slope did you leave those spacers in there and did you just put the thin set under neath and place it in?
Yes I lef the spacers there.
And I backbutter the quartz before I put it in place

I order it from a local granite and quartz fabricator in my area.
people who install counter tops
You can also get them.from the Tile Shop store.
Nice work Azim. I'm curious why you didn't use tile edging to outline the niche instead of the metal. Customer preference?
