Ngl, all these mid/low tiers (and even lower high tiers) making top 8 runs and even winning majors and supermajors feels to me like a game of top-player whack-a-mole. It's obvious as hell that the only reason these characters make it so far is that most top players aren't comfortable with ALL 86 matchups in the game. They spend all their effort preparing for key matchups like Steve and Sonic. For all the rest of the matchups, they just rely on fundies, character diff, and skill gap to prevent upsets from obscure characters. But then a random mid/low tier shows up with a top level player repping them who actually has fundies and no real skill gap, which means that the skewed matchup knowledge more than makes up for character diff. But then if that character makes top 8 enough, then people start actually studying the matchup, and that character goes back down where they belong. It happened with Leo's Byleth (although slowly because Leo skill gapped tf out of everyone for a while), it happened with Shadic (though Corrin isn't that bad, so he still places pretty high), it's gonna happen with Raru, BeastModePaul, Zap, etc.
Calling Corrin, Luigi, and Hero mid in the same comment is absolutely wild lmao. All are high to top tier easily

It's moreso that most mid tiers can just compete with top tiers that aren't steve/sonic. Like there's really not a big gap between hero and roy for example.
@@Chillaxorita Luigi can kill of any hit at any percent, has top 5 damage output in the game, and though his disadvantage isn’t great it’s only as bad as someone like Kazuya.
Why is luigi making top 8 a surprise anymore
Could it be that Luigi isn't exactly considered to be that great of a character and the fact that he has little to no tournament results?
@@ropebunny69there are multiple luigi reps doing well wdym 😭 he literally is top 20 in terms of results. Not saying he’s top 20 tier list wise, but luigi is a good character

Luigi has consistently made it into top 8s for years. Now we're just seeing even better players pushing him further. Tbh if Raru just gets a strong secondary for bad matchups he might end up contesting for top 10.

Snake is just as boring imo. Stalling, zoning, avoiding contact. That's the character, but that's not fun to watch (but there can be sick sequences, as for everyone)
I'm hoping that world will be found in Smash 6...
I been saying it for years. Banjo is top 20 in this game. Someone just needs to pick him up. His recovery options and mix ups can be insane in the right hands.
His damage output is terrible compared to a lot of characters. Can’t see him in top 20

About the counterpick, you can use a secondary that has a very different playstyle, and the opponent has to readapt against that counterpick

Luigi V pythra is a really volatile MU. If you have a consistent ToD i genuinely believe no MU should be less than 50/50 for you.

As a former Sephiroth main and a firm believer that Seph is mid tier, it genuinely brings me joy seeing more people catching on and accepting that Sephiroth is fucking garbage😭
America is better vs gnw but it's for weird reasons. TLDR we gamble more often and gnw actually fucking explodes.
Japan plays more into the flowchart/safe aspect of smash that gnw basically deletes by having better flowcharts and safer options.
Where as america plays more for the hit/punish so you can catch miya lacking and randomly kill him.
Japan, the most sauce less character match ups all the way from pools to grands
