What a monster. How long has that fish been watching Houston go by? She's probably at least 40 years old...so she watched Hurricane Alicia come through and wash out her bayou or creek she was born in back in the 80's. She avoided all the arrows, the gnarly construction projects, the dredging, droughts and floods, and the trophy hunters...just to swim by and eat that carp. Pretty cool when you think about it.
These types of videos have made me appreciate every body of water I see. You never know where a monster can be. I caught a 52 lb. grass carp out of an abandoned golf course pond in North Carolina! I’ll always be a bass fisherman but I love these videos keep it up
Those bodies of water that are man made yet abandoned can have some monsters in it. I don’t partake in golfing but my buddies have rods in their bags due to golf courses having massive carps in their bodies of water
Payton, I’ve been fishing for over 60 years and that was the most exciting catch and release I have ever witnessed. Keep up with your fishing shows young man! You are a role model. Orlando Ronald
You mentioned about there not being a better way to end the year...and, for some reason, I got to thinkin' about when I get a lot younger, and used to go to Church. Ever been to what's called a Watchnight Service, where ya listen to some Preachin' Prayin', singin' and shoutin'? I was raised Old-fashioned Pentecostal/Full Gospel, and every year, we'd get together about 8:00 P. M. on New Years Eve, and enjoy ourselves until probably about 1:00 A. M. or so. Man, it was fun! Anyway-Have a happy New Year!
Very happy i found your videos brother! As a young teen i was always in every creek bed and every fishing hole i could find. After i started to get sick with my lupus at 24 my fishing slowed down when i turned 30 it stopped almost all the way. I was 40 yesterday and can count on one hand how many times i been fishing in the last 10 years. I miss it a lot i use to fish hours and hours! Very much love your videos reminds me of my past and the love to fish! Thanks God Bless!
Unbelievably epic! By far the largest AG I've seen or caught. Very special day indeed for y'all. Kudos for caring about the well being of that beautiful personal best. I learned a lot from this video. Y'all take care!!!!
Yeah, it was in the ball park but that 70 lb difference is big. The bigger they get the more every single pound becomes a gulf of a difference. One day hopefully!
I am an Angler from bottom East Coast of Australia and always fish from the banks of the rivers or beaches. I have hooked some large ones but never got them out of the water. WELL DONE FELLAS! 🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🤗🤗
As an angler from the UK I've got to say what an amazing catch, I watched a TV programme a few years ago where he went searching for these fish as apparently the real big ones had become rare in places and I became fascinated with them. That's surely a fish of a lifetime and I wish we had them here 👍
Here here. Agreed sir. We dream about the fish you have in the states. British fishing his it's moments and places and a lure (haha), but the monsters you have on the side of the road, is incredible
Absolutely one of the best fishing video I have even seen, very well done mate, and to catch a PB at this festive time is so up lifting for us all, greatly needed at this troubled time. Here's to many more of your videos in 2022. Cheers Ian from England
@@wesleychase1950 right, because a fish that's been around for 60 million years kills all the other fish 🙄 Makes you wonder why the ecological balance didn't tip millions of years ago... You believe in anti-scientific propaganda from 100 years ago.

So awesome! If we had those alligator gar up here in Canada I'd be fishing for them. But I'd still be catching micros and everything else in between lol. Multispecies is how I roll. Gotta catch a little bit of everything!
Awesome video and great fishing! It's amazing that those fish have never killed anyone. The one in this video is easily big enough to kill a small person.

Nice. We catch them here in thailand but they never get that big in the walk waters here. We do get monster arapima here so I guess that makes up for it.
Accidentally had one snap at a humpy that I was fishing. The rise was only about 10 yards from me and I thought that I was onto the largest trout of my life! Once I saw him (I was wading in a shallow river), I was both shocked and more than a little concerned. half an hour later I got him close enough to estimate him at about 20 lbs. He had wrapped around the leader at the snout and luckily another angler waded over and helped me untangle him and let him go.
I love the respect these two have for this fish. Gars are so under appreciated. Here in Georgia I mainly get longnose (PB 11lbs) and they are always so fun to catch and look at! Mom and girlfriend hate them though 😂. Gonna have to make a trip to Texas for a real dinosaur
That’s a Catch the Fever rod. I have several. They are absolutely hands down the strongest rods I’ve ever used. Just wish they made 9 foot versions so I could make really long (90-100 yard) casts.
What a beautiful animal, once my wife and i were watching fishers in Louisiana and a guy had one that size up on land that he was going to take home i guess and dress it out and it made me so sad to see such a majestic fish end its life that way! catch and release of these dinosaurs is the way to go!
Yea sometimes it’s better to take it out. You don’t know what truly is out there I’ve been river fishing my whole life you’d be surprised what I’ve seen
Down here in the southern most point of Louisiana, they definitely fish them for food. The Vietnamese will pay you for 'em, too. They'll put signs up saying "Will buy Gar Fish" with their phones numbers, so it's actually kind of lucrative. People will use treble hooks the size of your fist and tie it to half a dozen 2 liter Coke bottles with a chicken leg quarter as bait. So if you ever see a bundle of 2 liter bottles floating around, it's a good possibility there's that dinosaur you speak of hooked to them.
@@luckylollermodmaster6283 I don't believe it is, my friend. It's cruel when you really consider the situation. I fish off of docks, and when I catch a gar, that mother goes right back into the water because I don't want anything to do with them. They're fun to fight and catch, but they're not food to me. But I only use new, sharp hooks that don't cause massive damage to fish in general, and definitely wouldn't damage a gar in the slightest.
