Certainly getting the 'crackle' and penetration of the weld. A tip would be to 'push the weld' along with a stiring motion, you'll get a smoother and deeper penetration of the weld bead as a result. Definately dress the welds back with a flat wheel on a grinder and hit it with some weld through etch primer soon as you're done before any rust forms. With thicker plate (3mm or thicker) you may have to bevel the edges to create a 'V' channel that you can fill up with weld, by doing this should allow you to get max penetration. Gas choice can make thing easier as CO2 can make it a bit tricker to get decent welds where as Argon will give usually pretty decent welds. Of note with PPE, DO invest in some thick welding jackets and chaps unless you fancy getting burnt from sparks, better to be hot and sweaty than down A&E with a weld burn. Just a few tips from a mechanical engineer and former techie.
Weld look fine plenty of penetration they won’t go anywhere, I will say next time cover up any glass and paint it only takes one spit to hit your windscreen and will smash as well the sparks melting onto your paint and rusting. Love your channel keep it up and hope to see the e36 around Gloucestershire soon 👍🏻
This is a whole new era. Watching the webisodes back however many years ago, I never would've thought I'd witness you become a fabricator lol, but I'm here for it! Also happy birthday in advance.
Hi I’m a welder fabricator and them welds are decent but you needed to turn your heat up on the welder or instead of turning the heat up turn the wire speed down and go slower because your getting what’s called a spine effect which is where it bunches in the middle of the weld but other than that there good welds
Never welded before and want to get into it, the fact you just bought one and jumped right in has given me a kick up the arse. Have a nice time down Cornwall and set off early, the M5 and A30 is a fckn nightmare this time of year 😄
thank for pouch link need for parts for my 2000 vw passat 1.8t Project euro style can wait to see bmw v8 doing some B road bashing keep up the good work
Hey boys. Big fan of everything you're doing. I've bought myself an old Honda CR-V for my winter work commute with the intention of lifting it and putting big fat wheels on. The issue is that I love it but I'm not in love with it. Certainly not like I am with my MX5 and my dad's remapped E280 CDI (sentiment and power). The CR-V is quirky as... rear seats that slide back, forward, and recline, the boot floor is a pull-out fold-out picnic table 👌 I'm just hankering for an old Volvo or something to put a smile on my face. What do you fancy swapping? 🤔
With MIG welding you should be pushing your weld into the material and not dragging, if you was to be using flux cored wire then you'd be fine, I'm a welder by trade but it's all about practice and learning your welding set ✌
Hey mate hope you reply to this 🙏🏻, I am looking to do an m60 swap to my e36 and I’m wondering where I could get those adapter plates , also if I get the wiring harness where is the adapter from , I’m putting it in my daily so want to collect everything I can so I don’t loose the car for too long . Also what trans are you running as I want to run a manual and did you find a soloution for the drive shaft ?
Welding is a bit like drifting… all about the seat time! Top work boys best way to learn is have a go and you ain’t done bad! Some good penny on those!
With mig, you’d usually weld right to left mate, but they all long strong and fine, I have the same welder but can’t stop getting porosity no matter what I do
happy birthday mate, i live in cornwall and the first video i watched of yours was about you going to boardmasters! learnt a lot about the sweet amber nectar. Have a good one
Hi. Your job is just awesome. Let me please ask you if there’s any complications about the front oil pan . I need to install an M20B18 automatic transmission into an e36 1993 . Kind regards from Argentina.
Mate, wear a long sleeve, you’ll get really bad sunburn from it and trust me it ain’t good but keep playing your settings like wire speed and what have you
Looking good! Welding blankets and a fire extinguisher wouldn't go a miss 🤣
Boq - “I bought a welder”
John - **gulp**
An LGBT welder ...
Shoutout to this guy jack who literally came out of nowhere onto the channel
real ones remember jack from the gti
@@bazza1332 when he was still a child 😂
Is Jack not related to Tommy?
Jack needs his own show. Call it ‘Jackmonkey’ or something 😄

The excitement on you guys faces when the bonnet shut makes the whole thing worth while. Nice job boys 👌🏻😎

love how oem that v8 looks in the e36, the meet was awsome, was very cool to meet you and give you some stickers, will for sure be at the next meet.

Living the dream mate. Mad progress on the build already, can't wait to see your faces on the first startup.

Super sick build!! Suprised how "easy" the V8 goes in there.
Love the fact that it will still look clean when your done , this pouch thing is well good
Impressed with those welds! Good progress in this video. Have a great birthday!

nice, not a bad job at all on those welds. Welding blanket would be a wise investment plus you could use it as a duvet when you kip the night, lol

I don't know anything about welding but none the less I'm super impressed
Loved thar car meet! Always a good day when theres a BQR video in the sub box

V8's sick! Those are some very nice welds for your first time, mine were way worse when I first started welding.
Round style glasses look sick imo, great to see the V8 progress. My car is currently broken, but will definitely come down to the next meet!
Can't wait to see this thing start up after all the work!
Cheers for a sound meet Boq, was mint meeting you and the OG crew (as well as current). Need more toilets and food vans next time though 😉😅
Such a sick idea to stick a v8 in it 👏🏻

Keep up the mint content 🤙🏽
Love this video bro!! And I'm a Newquay boy too with an E36, currently sourcing a new engine where you to in Cornwall
With these mounts, how much space you got between the engine and the fire wall?
Would you bring out any of the old designs from the years to the new collection? Love your vids
