What in heaven's name has happened to the most famous overture in all opera? I can't believe this has been allowed to be presented without it, fabulous as the rest of the production undoubtedly is...

It's really challenging to not have entracts... For the singers, the orchestra, the conductor, and the audience, everybody. Don't know why there is no even one between Act 2 and 3... Don't think it help.
Edit: There is an enctract after the apple scene?? And the overture is right after???
Sorry but as this production was fine to me it's getting worse. Respect the rythm of the dramaturgy by Rossini, this is just absurd here.
Ah , this modern "regietheater"...Lack of poetry ! It's seems the actual war Russia/Ukr . Let's hope Ukr. could find his William Tell.
I was even able to tolerate the suits, but when William Tell PULLED A GUN OUT OF NOTHING, it was the end. It was not only out of character, but also an anachronism. Do you have any idea what century this opera was supposed to be set in? Of course you do, but you don't really give a damn. After all, why bother preserving the original message of a classic if I can simply insert my own point of view, interpretation and opinion into a work that isn't mine? God, that's why I hate modernism. Theater should have continued in the era of the rehearsers. Directors, we don't need you!
Imagine leaving out the one part anyone but insufferable opera snobs actually wants to hear.
