- This tutorial shows how to do Simple Scallop/Running Button plaits on horses with natural long and thick manes. This is ideal for those who want to keep their horses mane natural for show (for example) but may also want to plait up for other disciplines. Most would go for a running plait, but this is another option!

I'm going to try it on my friesian cross, her hair is thick. And I just love that scallop braid look. I will say I did already try it but didnt look good, thick I needed to start with a bigger section of hair .when I pulled it through it kinda unraveled, and looked crappy so I'm going go keep practicing...its so gorgeous thank you for posting this

I HAD A PONY WITH SUCH A THICK MANE, SHE DIDN'T LOOK GOOD WITH BRAIDS. I SHAVED HALF OF THE THICKEST PART. WENT TO A 4-H SHOW, THE JUDGE ASKED ME WHAT WAS THIS? I TOLD HIM WHY I DID IT AND WON THE CLASS!!
