I love how Professeur Salem spun around but still threw the fouette. I never would have expected that in a million years. Wish I got to spend more time learning from him.
    Respects.

It is still one of my fav techniques. The Professor does it effortlessly...with me, it takes a little more effort ;-)

Move in, keep him close and cutoff those kicks. Those kicks only work when your students stand too far back because they are too afraid and under trained to deal with that.

This is demonstration for instruction...not sparring. It is also clips from Savate Boxe Francaise instruction where the emphasis is on kicking. Any fear I had of Professor Salem Assli was more than appropriate. The Professor was also well schooled in close-range fighting and grappling, that just isn't what is being demonstrated.

Under trained is the biggest factor here. Whereas the kicking techniques are solid, it's a matter of managing distance!
No one is going to kick if they don't have proper distance to do so...... Just like punching also requires the proper angle, setup and distance!

@@tatumergo3931 the late Professor Assli was not "undertrained". He was a full instructor (one of the first in the USA) in Muay Thai under Arjahn Chai Sirisute (the founder of the American Muay Thai Association). A full instructor in JKD and Kali under Guro Inosanoto. A 2nd Degree Silver Glove and Professor in Savate (the only one in the USA for decades). My own physicality is low hanging fruit and easy to attack. As your comments seem to be repetitive attacks on my physical fitness I will stop approving them. I am aware that I am overweight. Thank you.

@@toronto_Savate-and-JKD . Oh by no means I meant professeur Aslii.... I meant the rest of you guys! I'm well aware of the capabilities of prof. Salem Aslii, even older and a bit overweight, he was in better shape and capabilities than most young people today. And that's because in his youth he dedicated more time to physical fitness conditioning than to anything else. He had what is called muscle memory!
Muscle memory is the hardest thing to develop, but once you have it even if you get out of shape you can recover it. People today just don't want to exercise. It's as if they are putting something in the food.... I'm also an advocate of steroids after the age of 45+, one cc a month does wonders! And it has less contradictions and side effects than aspirin, which is sold over the counter!
They don't want us to get healthy............ Calisthenics my friend, Calisthenics is the key!

The amount of physical conditioning that's necessary for this, is way more than the shape they're all in. Running or the treadmill is a necessary aspect!
Laying off cheeseburgers and walking more also!

Hey, as always I appreciate people taking the time to comment. I do sense a trend here that you enjoy commenting on my weight and conditioning. I am overweight and not in great shape - the same does not apply to the late Professor Salem Assli. He was highly trained and skilled and in his 60s in this video.

@@toronto_Savate-and-JKD . That's only because I myself have become old, fat and overweight, and I hate it. But regardless the late professor Aslii was so good because in his youth, he dedicated so much time to physical conditioning. And I believe despite of age, that this could also be accomplished again. Calisthenics and weight training is the key, and old supplements also, hormone replacement therapy is such a thing and we all should be demanding it!
