When Ego was a critic, he was rail thin because "if i dont love it, i dont swallow" but at the end, you can see his stomach is more round here, to show he's actually started eating more.

As a french girl, I'm glad when people like this movie 😁
Let me make some things clear. First, the music during the lamp'scene is " La Marseillaise " the hymn of the France.
Second, Colette called ratatouille " a peasant dish " because it's not considered as a gastronomic dish so basically, it's not the typical dish you can eat in a restaurant like Gusteau's.
Third, in France, Colette is voiced by Camille, the singer of the so g whe can hear during the movie.
Fourth, what Remy served to Ego isn't a real ratatouille but " un tian de légumes " what is a different dish. The real one is what Ego's mom cooked.
And the most interesting is this one : Ego's flashback is what we call in France " une madeleine de Proust " what is something who bring you back in your childhood.
The origin of this expression come of the french writer, Marcel Proust, who wrote in one of his books that the madeleines' odor is a childhood memory for him.

@@thebestofstephx you're welcome 😉 it's kinda satisfying to be the one who can understand some things and can explain them.
Do you plan to watch french movies ? We have really good ones.
I suggest you " Les Choristes " (The Chorists).

In France, this type of flash-back is called " a Proust's madeleine " in reference of the french writer, Marcel Proust, who said the madeleines' odor gave him memories of his childhood.
The expression itself is about something who bring you back in your childhood

The title dish is one that was made popular by chef Thomas Keller, who was the chef consultant on this movie.
