That is a nice rig! I've always been anti- kayak cause I love my little boat. Your videos have gotten me to rethink my opinion as you fish the same types of water I do. This review has me thinking now that's a kayak I could enjoy fishing from.
Thanks for the video. How much added weight would you estimate you have when you tournament fish? I'm trying to decide between the PWR & the XTR. And if the extra weight of the XTR will even matter under a tournament load?
It won’t matter either way. When you’re talking about a rig like either of those 90% of people trailer anyway, but both will take whatever you throw at them. I’m 250 pounds. Add in a motor, batteries, rods, cooler with my drinks and snacks, etc etc etc and that PWR don’t even blink. XTR will handle even more. I say you’re golden either way you go.
You should be able to slide that one rod tube over and fit a 4th in there for your net. Then it’s right behind you ready to go. Nice setup. I have the whip light as well, and I ended up having to dim it cause it’s so bright. lol. Love it though.
Also, and please no offense intended, you look like a bigger guy. I’m 300lbs and I’m looking at this heavily for my next kayak. How do you like it as far as stability etc. How do you like it compared to the Hobie PA? It’s a great looking setup.
Thanks for watching! I’ll have to do an update video just because I have tweaked stuff since making it as I get more and more seat time. And I think by spring I’ll be doing an XTR rigging video 😂. My new net lives in the rod holder behind me now and it’s been better. As a bigger guy I love this kayak so much. I can’t even compare any other kayak to it in that regard, none of them come close.
Great video! Very helpful for me since I’m picking up a PWR129 mid July. I decided on Bonafide over the Hobie after seeing so many comments/videos (including your’s) on the rather sad decline of Hobie. If you have a chance in a future video I’d be interested in you transducer mounting solution. Tight lines.
Yea it’s not even a contest, PWR all day. And the PWR paddles like a dream. I would rather paddle my PWR fully loaded than pedal my loaded PA14. I’ve paddled the PWR a lot actually going into shallow water and stuff and it’s smooth as glass.
I’ll be honest I’ve had the PWR for a few months now and put a lot of time in the seat. I’ve used the paddle pretty much every time I’ve been out to get a little creative with some spots. And until you brought it up I haven’t thought about the pedal drive once. I can honestly say I do not miss it even a little bit. I bet I used that peddle drive less than a dozen times, give or take. And when it came to getting shallow I always wished I carried a paddle instead but the PA is a nightmare to paddle IMO. The motor changes everything and even if there’s an issue, it’s paddling the PWR for me.
I don’t know the actual specs but it feels like it in an antidotal sense. There’s no flex in the deck when standing and it just feels tougher and more robust.
Thanks for subscribing! I’m down 1 mph with the PWR vs the PA but my motor isn’t the most efficient, I’m hard on it. I have some new props to test out that should get me back to the 5mph mark.
@PenguinOutdoors when you say you're down a mile..... you mean the Xi3 pushed the PA14 a mile faster? I know the Hobie pedal drives are fast, I have two, but I was just wondering what the Xi3 speeds only were on each one.
The xi3 only speed on my PA was 4.5-5.0 mph. I saw over 5 a few times but conditions have to be so perfect. The PWR129 it’s 3.9-4.3 consistently. But my lower is a little beat up so the xi3 is not performing as well as it did with the PA. The new prop I’ll be testing should put the PWR at closer to 5-5.5 consistently.
It’s definitely faster than the PA14. My xi3 is abused and needs a new armature. I’m over five with my new prop and a banged up damaged motor. Others are seeing 6+. The PA can’t compete with the hull design of the PWR when it comes to being motorized or tracking.
just so ya know this video only puts audio out left side, had me chasing my audio for a little bit lol
Weird, it’s playing in stereo on my end. Thanks for watching, sorry about that!

Stability pa or pwr? Thank you
PWR wins in both primary and secondary stability.

Thanks for watching! I should have included the transducer instead of assuming people would just know. I’ll do a short video on it this week.
@@PenguinOutdoors thanks so much. I’ve seen a few other videos, but I would be very interested in your solution.

@@PenguinOutdoors thanks, just what I needed..
So you actually prefer the PWR to the PA14? One thing nice about the PA14 is if your motor dies you’re still good with the pedals.

You don’t miss the pedals at all? Did you have the 360 PA?

@@PenguinOutdoors good info sir. Do you feel the plastic is thicker than the PA?

Anti Eco decal..... 😂
Also how is the max speed fully rigged vs the PA with the Xi3?

Do you happen to know your top speed?
Currently my top speed is 4.8-5.0 mph
