      I know it isn't fair to put you all into the same barrel but the GenZ'ers I know are pretty bad. (the ones I know) Theyre always on their phones, always plugged in, gossiping, posting, and they seem much less concerned or learned about a lot of history.

    How social media is described is almost always wrong. It's used, yes, but nobody I know spends every minute of their lives on it, as is generally implied. It's merely a tool to assist social interaction, not the foundation of social interaction. When it comes right down to it, most people would rather spend a day with friends than in front of a screen. The 8 second attention span isn't exactly an attention span. A better way to describe it is this: there's a ton of stuff on the internet, I've got other things to do, I'm not going to waste my time on something that will take forever to load, tell me what I want, etc. when I can just find somewhere else. So many of these studies are based on pure numbers, and don't capture the spirit of the generation.
    That said, this isn't bad. This video was actually done much better than most.
    There's lots of things like this rant out on the internet, most of them not as eloquent as mine, and I'm afraid people will think we're all pricks because of it. That's not true, we're just a little upset that we're so blatantly misunderstood.

    I'm 13. I have a phone, a computer and a Xbox but that does not mean I have never done any of these thing. I've climbed a mountain. I've smelled flowers OUTSIDE. I HAVE been swimming in the ocean. A lot of these comments sound like you have low expectations for my generation when I know me and all my friends want to achieve great things. I want a career in psychology. My best friend wants to study in the medical field. One of my siblings is in Romania RIGHT NOW. So maybe see things from our perspectives for once. We keep being pushed down and told to be quite by all who are older than us because "We are too young to know anything." We actually know way more than what older generations think. Just because we haven't experienced these things fully that does not mean we don't know the full impact of what a lot of stuff does and can do.

      coming from a fellow gen Z'r: you're obviously very bright and it's inspiring how you're already certain of what you want to pursue a career in. keep being the way you are and don't allow others' comments to degrade that motivation B)

      It's simply a range. A wide variety of experts and authorities generally state that the birth years start in the range of the mid-1990s to the early 2000s.

    • @captainblackeye3138
      @captainblackeye3138 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @Erin Fullem, No, he had it right. 1995 is a much better start year for Gen Z than 1996 is.
      Those born in 1995 were still in the child mortality age bracket (0-4) on Y2K, never went to high school during the Bush Administration, and weren't old enough to vote for Obama, unlike those born in 1994.

    I am no Gen Zer. I was born in 1997. I remember 9/11. I think there needs to be another generation like Xennials, between 1988-1997.

    I propose Generation Z should be called the "Harbinger Generation" because we are the ones who will push the world fully into the electronic age/give birth to the generation that will.

    I was born in 96 and I'm not in gen z, none of what is true for gen zers is true for me. The technology I had growing up was the (box) TV, VHS players, CD player , cassette tapes, and DVD players. The higher tech things didn't exist for me until I was in my mid to late teens.
