Incredible to think of the diameter of the main blades and the power capabilities of brushless motors and high discharge batteries. Not too long ago people would say impossible. Then all the advancements in design and materials that make it possible.
Electric sure has come a long way! Even 10 years ago if you would’ve told me, it was possible to make this kind of power and go this fast especially with a helicopter I would’ve called you crazy lol
Thank you! A time of time invested in practicing countless hours of tuning and set up. Takes a lot more to get these models to perform like this than just pointing and going lol.
Jeff congratulations 🎈🎉 on 200 mph, 30K subscribers and the fact that apparently 293.1 amps can start to make a helicopter 🚁 sound like a P-51 Mustang. 😊
I'm happy with 30 odd mph in a 6ch CP Raptor 50 flying almost out of sight and back! One day I'll try a loop, maybe a roll, then go lie down! My T-Rex 600 waits my confidence! Just for info I really love my Walkera V450D03. This video is awesome, something to work towards (slowly)
To all the Airwolf haters who claimed due to "physics" there's no way a fictional helicopter could do mach 2+, well, scale this baby up to Airwolf size and multiply that by 205mph or whatever and you're looking mach 15 no problem. Haters debunked. Airwolf must have had crazy CIA-grade high discharge lipos. Cool channel bro, as fixed wing guy i respect my heli clubmates, high coordination high stakes and impressive safety record flying meaanwhile the fixed wingers cut up their fingers behind the flight line. Just start filming in 8k60fps and you're gucci. Don't ever let an old 3m glider guy tell you you're too dangerous with your loud flying Cuisinarts, while you are landing without incident, he's over 2000ft high an inch from a class B NY-area airspace, has a heart attack and drops along with his glider (true story).
Congrats on your speed! And 30k subs! You have had some explosive growth this last 6 months, so glad to see your consistency of this channel! (cept the ikon/vbar consistency lol cmon lets jest about that a little haha). Gemini is now ready to start fitting avionics. I took calipers to the battery bay now that its finished and just cant come up with 8s packs that will fit the thing :( Everyone is right at the limit 63-65mm tall...but you add straps and double sided tape/velcro then your now well over 67-69mm tall. SMC is the only maker that has 8s that will fit the Gemini bay....but of the two choices, only one is descent; the other is mediocre at best. Guess it will be a 6s machine after all. I'll just get another Xnova 4025, will still be an amazing craft for sure!
Thank you! I greatly appreciate it! The channel has definitely been growing like a rocket! Can’t think all of you enough. I absolutely love Vbar. Nothing wrong with ikon but man! It is so nice and simple to be able to do everything right from your radio. The best telemetry! Especially when you’re doing speed, runs being able to look at the log and graph second by second to see important things that need to be changed or tuned out. Can’t go back! lol won’t stop posting ikon stuff and setups but won’t buy new ones either lol personally 6s Is all the Tron needs. Anything more in my opinion is just a waste on a 550. The Xnova 4020 1200kv is the perfect combination for that machine that is what I am running and have been extremely happy with it.
So to be an official record, it will have to be done through a timing system and not with GPS speed. But I am working on that! Yes, definitely going to be hard to beat at speed up next year.
@ thanks for the reply, I’m still tryna wrap my head around how full scale performance/issues show or arise in RC heli’s. So far with my smaller 450s I’m finding that just maxing out blade length and a moderate to low head speed, those little SOBs get going quick. Need to clock em, but I’m sure they’re close to 100mph
I think the thrill comes in record breaking and also precision technique made possible by meticulous build/planning and engineering. People will go do a dyno-tune on their high end cars just to eek out an extra couple dozen HP. I imagine its probably the same drive in a 205mph heli. I get my satisfaction washing every bolt in denatured alcohol, then drying with microfiber cloth and applying lock-tight with a foam medical Q-tip. It sounds dumb and overkill I'm sure, but it just clicks with me.
The same point you do anything! Because you enjoy it and like it. Speed flying has been something i’ve been into my whole life. Making models go faster, more powerful records go faster than anybody has gone. The same reason people enjoy building 3000 hp street cars or 800 hp motorcycles the thrill of going fast breaking Records and not doing the same exact thing everybody else does
correct me if I'm wrong but isn't anything over 100 MPH technically illegal? Or did you get some kinda special permission for this or access to some location where you're exempt from that regulation or how did you get away with this?
@@westhobbiesrc8051 I'm totally confused, because there's 14 CFR part 107.51 that says the GROUNDspeed of a UAS can't exceed 100MPH. Wait, now my brain has REALLY bluescreened. Yeah, I'm utterly confused here. Conclusion: the FAA and bureaucracy suck.

I guess it's kinda quick....lol J/K that is a beast you got there. My bet come IRCHA you're gonna smash a record with it.
It’s definitely got more left in it! We’re definitely going to be setting a record next year!
Wow, Jeff! Incredible speed🎉. Congrats on thirty K 🎉🎉
Thank you! I greatly appreciate it! I can’t believe we’ve passed 30 K subscribers!
Wow congratulations buddy! Thats awesome. Bit of a surprise wasn’t it?
Thank you! it actually was, I really didn’t think that pass was it I knew it was fast, but I didn’t know it was that fast
HOLY COW!!! That was incredible......especially how quickly the battery was depleting!! LOL!! Nice job Jeff!!
Thank you! You get about 2 minutes from take off to landing. Two passes into the wind and two down wind!
Congrats! That sounds mean
Thank you! It sure does. So mean!
Super cool!
i've heard that the speed plane guys pre heat their batteries.
Maybe worth a try.
Awesome flight, very fast.
I would have lost orientation in that sun but you handled it like a champ
Thank you! Yeah, the sun on the right side was terrible!
Great work Jeff!!!

Well done Jeff, I know how hard it can be when you do speed flying and you have definitely got the skill 👍👍👍
Thank you! It’s been a lot of flights and practice a ton of hours tuning and setting up the machine to get to this spot.

What headspeed/rotor length? and any problems with retreating blade stalls?
There 713mm blades at 2600 RPM. They are special designed speed blades so no stalling.

No, there is no limits on electric planes/helis. There is a 199.9mph limit on turbine aircraft. But electric you can go as fast as you want.
