I guess I was over watering because the 3 zucchini's that were growing bigger on my plant stopped growing and started yellowing. I'll back off on it for sure now, thanks for the info!
This helped me a lot!! I kept seeing people say that I should water 1 inch, but no one had mentioned the difference between in ground vs in the container! Mine are in the container so you've just saved my zucchini! 😱 Thank you!

Awesome video! I’m in Ridgewood, Queens (growing in a mix of containers and beds). So, I bet our conditions are pretty similar! That hose looks awesome; I’ve been wanting a new one, so I’ll talk it over with concerned parties!
Your welcome! I know exactly where that is , I grew up in Jamaica Queens .. this hose is pretty good so far , I go through 4- 5 hose in a year sometimes lol not sure why lol
@@Greentgarden I’m new here; only 2nd year, so I only slightly know Jamaica. I’m impressed that you get through so many hoses! I thought you everyone just keeps it forever until it’s a stiff, inflexible mess. Since your garden is as big as it is; that may be why. Hmm. I just ate my 1st cucumber for lunch-it was the best one I ever ate!!! I hope she will perk up and produce more soon; this weeks cold weather is worrying me about it.
Oh congrats! That's wonderful, nothing is better than fresh vegetables! I hope the weather stays warm .. this way you will enjoy more harvest! Looks like we are about to get lots of rain coming
Great video. I want to add a tip for those gardening in the desert. The opposite can be true. My raised beds hold water better than my in-ground beds. While the soil I make for the in-ground beds holds water well, the limestone powder that passes for "soil" here around my beds literally sucks the moisture away. So, my in-ground beds need water every day & TWICE when it's hot & windy, while my raised beds (made from sawmill wood slabs) can go a day or two in between most of the time
Thank you for your information; I'm glad I came across this teaching; I' growing regular and Acorn squash in a large garden tub in my west facing front yard to see how they would do; unfortunately we have had a major heat wave 100-103 here on the front range of Colorado; the plants completely wilted and look dead! This morning we moved them under our shade in the front yard but plenty of light; now after soaking them...because the soil seemed dry the leaf's have turned yellow :{ is there anything I can do for this or just not water for a week or so? This is my first year planting in large containers! Makes me sad that I did this to them! Any comments that would help would be appreciated, thank you and God bless.
I am very sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, the temperature is very high And normally it stresses out the plant and the first sign will be yellow leaves at the bottom.. If the soil is dry I would water lightly every morning. If you water too much, I will skip maybe one day because in a container soil will dry the water up very fast.. 100 plus degrees. It's really good to water lightly once a day... With high temperature it's very hard to control the watering and also the plant will losing some of their fruit will turn yellow .. Just keep trying the water and add fertilizer every 2 weeks. Once the weather calms down your plant will produce in the well...
Thanks for this video! So helpful. I lost a plant and saved two from over watering then no sun for two months. Your videos super helpful. Any watering tips for tomatoes or cucumber bushes?
Glad it helped! Tomatoes I don't water too much , every 4-5 days .. cucumbers need more water, 2-3 days of good water... If it's super hot , 1-2 days light water for cucumbers..
Oh awesome! One of the best things you could do in life ! And that's some hot weather , either water early in the morning or you could water and evening time .. with 90 might have to water every 1-2 days .. keep an eye on your plants

Those are good fertilizer for the plants .. I fertilize every two weeks , especially if the plants start producing Fruit... th-cam.com/video/p6WWWsa7rsg/w-d-xo.html
Thank you that is exactly the info I needed !!! Now I know how much and when to water. I glad to know about the different varieties too. What do you do with all that zucchini you grow?
Your welcome! I give neighbors friends, families and we eat a lot too lol .. If I get enough this year I will do want to make a small donation to the local pantry
Sorry to hear , So this could be a couple things , Maybe just lack of nutrition and calcium , ( Add organic fertilizer and some garden line to increase calcium) Maybe your watering is off ! you're watering too much or too less this could cause plants for stress , water every 2 to 3 days if it's over 90° you water 1- 2 days .. If the temperature is too hot it definitely puts stress on the plant. So what to do if you did not prune wait till the evening time and remove two to three lower leaves from the bottom of the plant. This will help airflow and keep the plant healthy..
Yes like Tums .. just try your best to keep it Simple ingredients .... You could also try garden lime , bone meal fertilizer .. Or eggshells and wood ashes but they take some time to decompose into your soil.. Think about those as long-term calcium to your plants...
Sounds silly but I have indoor golden zucchini and gherkin plants. The zucchini was growing well and then rotted throughout the side of it and the cucumbers are now turning yellow at the base where they attach to the plant. I usually water every 3-4 days as they as indoor 5 gallon buckets but last wk I did an extra water cause I thought maybe they seemed too dry, but then this happened. Did I over water w the extra water day? Would this cause those issues?
Very impressive the golden door and sorry to hear the outcome. But you're absolutely right. It has a lot to do with the water. If you over water, the lease will start turning yellow. Sometimes the root will rotate and also the fruit will turn yellow.. .. I think you're right with indoor every 3 to 4 days water and should be perfect.. happy gardening 🌱
Can you tell me why my zucchini's are the shape of a cucumber? The part of the zucchini that is attached to the stem is of normal shape and a nice roundness but about midway its much thinner. All of my zucchinis are growing like that. Am I doing something wrong?
So this could by poor pollination also if it's super hot .. You might have to hand pollen it in the morning time to see and also keep up with your fertilizer and watering.. add fertilizer every 2 weeks , water every 2-3 days ..
Blood meal , blood bone or organic garden tone.. Garden lime is Also good for increase calcium.. good for plants like tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, squash amzn.to/46tKMKc (Amazon)#ad

Hi, if I'm using a moisture reader what should it say?
I think between 41% and 80%
A couple of my female flowers won't open up for pollination. I even had a tiny female turn brown before opening. Do you know what causes that?
