Get rid of the factory snorkel and just go 4" or 3" stainless pipe bent up to go through the guard and into the air box...will breathe better!
I definitely agree with you. That engine needs huge amounts of air, so I would say at least 3 1/2". Anything smaller than that would restrict the maximum power and create black smoke, which is more harmful to diesel engines than most people think.
Goood job the first person i see who tunes a diesel engine and it doesn't smoke

This has got to be the best om606 fan channel and shop out there
Fives and sixes are always much smoother/ nicer than fours. That said my dad has a 300tdi in his Landy 90 and I love the pull and sound of the big Garrett turbo. Not as nice as the D5 in my V70 though.

@@alcarez_z the OM606 has more low end torque and can't rev as high though. Also the direct injection of diesel engines allows easier tuning and there is nothing to worry about knocking

Ten bolts to fix that airbox heatsheild to the engine, I'm pretty sure you could use that thing as a hoist point😁

Looks great. Any suggestions for om606 in a series 2 landy? Would probably need to upgrade to the stronger transmission and transfer case plus axels.

There's a few options for you.. even v8, and Toyota makes some killer diesels..

Far superior to the crappy EV Range rover on "vintage voltage" channel. You can't beat a good reliable diesel engine, anything pre 2008 or created by yourself. Pure mechanical bliss, no ecu's to go wrong.

The only bad thing about Land Rovers that I heard is that the axels are weak.
Must be because they always upgrade , the Nissan patrol is the beast for strong 💪 axles

Well, since you guys seem to be the experts, what kinda controls are needed for an om6xx engine? I have a Windsor (I cooker her 😔) powered ranger, I know I can get adapters for a Windsor bellhousing, and I can run a fuel pump easily, but, I wonder what it takes to make the little diesel go, and do it reliably. I honestly suspect it's not that hard since ford uses a lot of metric stuff and runs things through the body harness, separate of the engine and pcm. For rpm it uses a crank trigger and 36:1 rotation ratio for tachometer input. I want at least as much torque as my 5.0 made, roughly 275# of torque. After all that conversation, if you can tell me physical dimensions of the engine? And yeah, rear sump looks absolutely Mandatory due to crossmember, and front differential (d35 sla, drive shaft). Intercooler/charge air cooler? Ford svo/t/c?
