    Friggin hella bad ass. Saw Josh Klinghoffer play it once and he didn't know the words and had to stop and was all like "That's all I know" lololol.
    Hey what's that arm rest thingy ya go on top of the body of the guitar? I want one for my gretsch big body guitar!

    • @AntonBetita
      @AntonBetita  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! The armrest is called the "Saddle-A-Bout" guitar armrest. I have a couple of them, a large rosewood-colored one, and this medium mahogany-colored one that you see in this video. I was getting discoloration on both my guitar(because of sweat) and my own arm (because the guitar's edge was digging in to my skin), and this armrest helps prevent both of those things for me.

      Thank you. I don't have tabs for this though. The arrangement is all made using chords

    Ive been watching fingerstyle videos of guitarists, Misko, Josephine, Anton, Dawes, Alif, Gumilar, Igor, Jung, and Liu. They are all excellent videos and their skills are top-notch. I was trying to copy their covers. But if I were asked who is my biggest influence, then I would say it would you. Man how I loved your style. My covers, Viva la vida, What's Up, and Take on Me, (Im Yours...ongoing; Eye of the Tiger..coming soon) were copied and influenced from your videos. I'm not saying that your cover is easier (well, it is sort of easier). But I just prefer and loved the way you play the guitar - how your wrist move oh so freely, imitting excellent music and melody. For your excellent arrangement, you could have bigger views had you included tabs. Also, you could have put a Patreon link to your arrangements and have additional income. Keep up your excellence and keep uploading videos. Lots of love. ❤️

    • @AntonBetita
      @AntonBetita  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the comment! I'm glad my playstyle has had an influence on yours.
      While some of my arrangements are indeed simpler/easier than that of the other people you mentioned, I would argue that:
      1 - More complex/difficult doesn't necessarily mean better. Number one priority in my arrangements is always melody - everything else is meant to complement it. I don't believe in over-complicating every single aspect of the song just for the sake of complexity. Too often I find guitar players trying to show off how outlandish their arrangement is at the EXPENSE of melody, which is a big no no for me. At some point the arrangement starts to feel bloated with gimmicks that are just there for the "Wow factor" or "Shock value" that - while technically impressive at first - get old really fast as the song goes on.
      And 2 - I have some pretty complex arrangements too. Most of the popular songs you've seen me cover (including Take On Me, I'm Yours, Viva La Vida, What's Up, and this one) all follow a very simple pop-music formula or structure to begin with. That's kind of the nature of mainstream music. But if you look up some of my other covers like The "City That Never Sleeps" or "Nobility Obliges", you'll see some of the more structurally complex covers I've done. Of course there are some super complex ones like "Dueling Ninjas" or "Communion" but I didn't make those arrangements myself, I just copied them from the original, which were already complex.
      I appreciate your comment about the way my wrist moves. I'm assuming you are talking about my right hand? I'm proud of my right hand technique and I don't see many guitarists that do it the same way, so I'm glad you like it. I think the right hand technique really makes a difference in not only how the music sounds, but also how the overall playstyle/performance looks.
      As for tabs and Patreon - I don't include tabs for my arrangements because I don't have any. I learn songs based on chords. Sometimes I share my chord sheets online, but I feel like chords are not "exclusive" - enough content to launch a whole Patreon page for. Chords are not something I feel good about hiding behind a paywall lol.

      @@AntonBetita True that. I give priority to melody too. However, there is nothing wrong with extra fancy movements coz we mean to break barriers, given that the sound is harmonious. It shows our skills, dexterity and foundation.
      Yes, I meant your right hand technique. I dunno how to describe it...it's like...it's like.. it is free from schackles and has endless potential. Flamboyant. Hypnotizing. Relaxed.
      I've been a strummer for 30 years and just started learning fingerstyle on 2019. I watched and learned from TH-cam videos where I was taught the "standard form", and I felt like my right hand is "caged". Then I saw your Viva la vida cover and had that "eureka" moment. And I said to myself, "I wanna play guitar fingerstyle like that".
      If ever you have the time to upload your own cover of "Kiss me" by Sixpence None the Richer, please do so🙏🙏🙏. A request by your biggest fan. There isn't a lot of samples in TH-cam. Thanks a lot.❤️

    • @AntonBetita
      @AntonBetita  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@secondcoffee5520 You are correct in that there is nothing wrong with adding extra touches and fancy techniques - provided it doesn't take away from the important part. It's just that a lot of guitar players I've seen who do that end up doing so at the EXPENSE of the important part. It's a lot of drumming and tapping and slapping - but it ends up being all rhythm and no melody. And that's when it starts to just feel gimmicky and soulless.
      There are of course exceptions to that. Trace Bundy is, I think, the perfect example of someone who adds a lot of extra flourish yet still maintains the soul of the song because he has a noticeable melody going that you can actually hum/sing along to. Take his original composition, "Love Song" th-cam.com/video/My_-ZMIuD_A/w-d-xo.html. He does a lot of weird stuff, even moves capos around during the performance and uses the sound of capo movement as part of his percussive backing. But despite all of that, there's still a melodic line that is driving the song forward.
      Also, if you watch that video I linked, pay attention to Trace's right hand. His playstyle is where I got my own right hand technique from. I think I know what you mean by feeling like your hand is "caged" with the more common "standard form" you've seen on youtube. It's always boggled my mind why so many fingerstyle players do that form because it just feels AND looks uncomfortable to me.
      I think the main difference between the "Standard form" and my form is the point of contact between the arm and the guitar's body. Most people seem to like putting their whole forearm in the front of the guitar, "hugging" the guitar so to speak. It makes it so their point of contact with the guitar is the joint between their upper arm and forearm, which is not a very stable anchor point. And with too much arm hanging in the front, their wrist movement becomes limited because they can't move their arm without losing the alignment of their fingers with the strings. So essentially, they have a huge chunk of arm that's just kind of sitting rigid in there, limiting movement everywhere else.
      As for me, I like to have my forearm resting on the edge of the guitar's body. I feel like I have a pretty stable anchor point with the middle of my forearm resting on the edge. And because I don't have too much arm hanging in the front of the guitar, it gives me room to move my wrist more. Also, it makes it easier to lift my arm off the guitar if I want to really wind up for a big strum, or if I have to switch to tapping or one-handed harmonics or whatever, since I just have a small part of my forearm resting on the edge, instead of hugging the guitar with my whole arm.
      Now, I will say, this type of right hand technique can be rather taxing on the shoulder, because if you rest your forearm on the edge like me, you have your arm lifted up more and if you're doing a lot of percussive slapping like on my Viva La Vida cover, it can feel like quite the arm workout lol.

      This have been a great and a very educational conversación, thanks to both!!.
      Its true That its not necessary an hight complexity arrangement to be a very enjoyable finguerstyle cover, and your arrangement of "the eye of a Tiger" its a proof, congratulations you really nailed it!!.
      This Channel its a great Discovery, you win a new suscriptor,😉 i wish you lots of views, you deserve It, i suggest to put some tutorials about your techniques and songs, i read that you dont have tabs, but its not really necessary, with some step by step instruccional videos Will be enought and i'm sure That your suscriptions Will be increased as to some artists like Gareth Evans, Calum Graham, Yoni Schlesinger...
      Again congratulations, and please keep on making those wonderful videos!!
