Outstanding video, to all those whining about various aspects of the install not being covered, watch it on half speed a few times and have a practice on some scrap materials. The video has to assume you have at least some aptitude as it's a short video. Otherwise get a quote from a qualified fitter, have a good cry then go about your day.
Correct. So many incompetent DIYers giving it a go. 'Didn't mention protect edges of glass' etc. Not to the comment, to the people trying to warn- If you didn't know that, maybe don't handle large heavy panes of glass. Not faulting these people it's here to view and follow for anyone.
My guess would be that silicone that's constantly in contact with water will turn black with mould in about 12 months whereas the silicone on the outside would only occasionally have to block water from seeping through the shower area and would stay dry and clean looking for far longer.
I like to tape up before attaching the aluminium, give you a straight line to work to and then I add silicone when finally screwing on. Form out silicone bith sides, remove tape, neat lines with barrier where it really counts.
He didnt mention to NEVER let the edge of the glass touch the ground, and rest it on rubber blocks . and rest panel on your foot when slotting into side channel.
This sort of glass must be 'toughened' for safety, a heat treating process that puts the internal structure of the glass under quite severe stress. This makes the glass must stronger, rather unintuitively. However, it also means that, post-toughening, *any* attempt to 'change its shape' eg by drilling a hole, results in the internal stresses being 'released' and the glass will catastrophically fail. Thus, any holes (eg for door handles) or radii on corners, or shapped hinge cut-outs for the special hinges must be done prior to toughening ie in the factory.
@@robertfong-mow7235 Unusually, the glass appears to come with a pre-fitted alu cap which then fits neatly into the alu channel screwed to the wall. The drilling at 01.22 appears to be the pre-fitted channel to wall channel attachment - glass is not drilled.
never seen a panel that has the aluminum strip on it....we normally put the raw glass into the wall U CHannel......how come it has that aluminum strip? for protection of bouncing? Did the glass have a hole in the base to apply that bracketon the floor?
Yep. Using a sharp quality drill bit is essential. Once the holes are drilled and the screen is fitted it's unlikely that the the tiles will break. But if you're unsure get in a pro to do the installation.
First step is to buy the right glass thst suits the tiling bedding haha your around 200mm short. Do no drill a hole into the floor you just busted the water proofing. These guys have no idea
@@samoanSAIYAN @3:49 I think he just missed the rainfall head in the main shower but there is also another shower head on a hose within the designated shower area but outside of the 'glassed off' shower section.
Great tutorial. Thank you for the time and effort you took to make this video and share it with us. Greetings from Croatia.
Many thanks Mijalic, your kind message is much appreciated, greetings to you from South Africa 😊

Do we seal horizontally on the inside of the shower screen?
Does drilling into the floor tiles disrupt the water proofing?
yesand no
So you're drilling straight through any waterproof membrane on the floor?!
Thank you! I wonder when install the glass with the brass frame, do i need a 2x4 behind of the tile? Or it’s not necessary
yesand no
Thanks great video
great video and beautiful bathroom. i wonder if those large porcelain tiles are very slippery when wet though?
nice video. Why would you not just apply the silicone on the inside to leave a better finish on the outside ? Thanks Alan
Alan Connolly - To allow any trapped water to escape.

They installed the screen at the edge of the tiles! Then didnt silicone behind the wall channel? They're 100% going to get a damp wall
I have water leaking through the c channel and the glass panel. What is best way to seal that?
Why are the screws that hold the screen in place on the inside of the shower not the outside?
Obviously it's because you don't want to see screws outside... Spoil the looks.... Derrrrrr
wouldnt the screw breaks the water proofing ?
saw in other video to put silicone into hole with raul plug
I love it..great job!!!😃👍

How did you drill hole in glass? Is there a special bit for drilling in glass? Thanks.

So when he was drilling into aluminum chanel It was into metal bracket on wall.

vraiment merci pour toutes videos
good video. Can someone give me a link where I can buy the glass or how to get it. Thanks a lot

Excellent.
thanks
how long do you have to wait for the tiles, before you attach the glass?
yes

What length is the glass?
Great job
You failed to show how the rubber seal is fitted between wall support and glass
Why do you apply silicon on the outside and not the inside of the shower?

The unit was pre-made and included a hole in the glass.
Amazing job
nice job my friend!!
Perfect
Thank you Hassen.
Can't the tiles break at the anchor points. Then you'd be up for big expenses.

Can you do mine please!!
Bathrooms screens dont shatter they are super hard to break even with a hammer

That panel went in too easy ,
It did. They checked before bringing the panel in.

Installed on vertical drywall instead of tile? Dear baby sweet Jesus.
Hi Bobby, these walls are made of brick covered with plaster.
Who would I get to install one of these in a wet room ? Would it be a plumber or a builder?

Makes you wonder, at least seal the inside and leave the outside open

Did nobody recognize that the shower head is actually outside of the shower?
Your thinking outside of the box is totally skewed OR you are crossed eyed.
