There's no reason why it wouldn't start outside. That's got an Onan. onan's are found in buses big rigs for many years auxiliary power units they ran onan's. To go down to your local coming shop and get it repaired it was an Onan. So if it was reluctant to fire after preheating they're definitely be something wrong with it. I had an Onan generator on an old Kenworth years with double eagle sleeper yrs ago back when I used to do trade shows in the 90's. They were good solid generators
love military generators, I have a mep002 5k generator, I run it on 80% used oil mix with 20% diesel, I bought the auto generator start board and installed, so that when my inverter sees that low voltage from days and days of not much sun, it will start up the generator and send power to inverter to charge up batteries. military generators put out a clean puresine wave.

I can confirm Rotella T6 flows nicely @ -20F. Really the only reason I use it over the T4.
