Just because I can, and I think it is really cool...My Great Great Grandfather was Wilfred Simpson, one of the seven requisitioning commissioners, pictured at 10:32 on the left! I'm now helping teach some of the History of the SA to some students on a course run by Frelsesarmeen (the Salvation Army) in Norway. What a fun way to also learn family history!
One of the comments asks why we no longer have 'open air meetings' any more. Simple lack of numbers compared to 20/25 years ago. In those days we had 3/5 meetings every Sunday.
Thank you for sharing this. Thank God for the Booths - but thank God even more for the reformers, otherwise the Army would still be doing things the old way.
Amen amen amen
For me, the Salvation Army have a truly fascinating and inspiring history. However, I am at a loss to understand why the Open Air reaching of the Gospel seems almost non-existent among Salvationists! Please feel free to correct my conclusion, if you know different.
Perhaps new reform is needed again, it wasn't a shock out of the 2 Higgins was elected. I struggle with some of the changes at the fringes of society these days but people are people and equality is equality. Not that I'm accusing this great British institution of being anything other than its greatest organisation.
thanks for info. question- do they embraced negro' ? are they independent? do they belong to secret society? do they believe in the old and new testament.? do they use the kjv bible? r they involved with the teaching of sda? what do they think about obeying the ten commandments. thank you if u r able to answer.
Thank you Sally Army for all you do to help homeless people. You are a lifeline for so many.

Would that the Army was still as much noticed and respected in this day and age as was the case in the days of Bramwell Booth!

Poor old bloke....he was past it but did not want to relinquish power. Funny that power - even for Christians is a vice.
