Corey jokes around a lot but he’s actually very intelligent, a pretty deep brother, and says some profound things. What he said about being with someone with bad energy that can cause you to not be yourself and make you feel like you’re dying quicker than you’re supposed to really hit home with me because that’s what happened to me when I was married. After my divorce I was reborn and regained my identity and happiness.
Big facts. We let TV and society distort reality. Telling us happy wife happy life. That should not be the case. Why should only one person be happy?

I'm glad I got the mentality of my mom. My dad was a mom's boy, but my mom was a go-getter. When they were married, we grew up in a little backwoods town. My dad didn't want to leave my mom left, went to Atlanta by herself, and worked three jobs to raise me and my sister. If being like my mom is bad, I want to be bad.

An example would be how a lot of times women will file a divorce and break up a family because they “grew apart” or “fell out of love”. In other countries they’re more apt to stay together because they don’t have this romanticized idea of what marriage looks like and understand that at times there’s going to be strife and/or suffering. I am from the Chi and this interview with Corey represented what we all claim to be, us old-schoolers anyway. This was genius how he speaks the real and makes it funny as hell.
