  • A classic pattern with a little modern twist, not much but enough to update this classic fly..
    Hook: - Kamasan B175/Fulling Mill 1530 or Barbless Equivalent
    Thread: - Black or Ruby Red 14/0-8/0
    Tail: - Golden Pheasant Tippets Natural
    Rib: - Fine Gold Wire
    Body: - Sybai Fine Spectra Flash Dubbing - Brown Claret
    Beard Hackle: - Red Game Cock Hackle Fibres or Ginger
    Wing: - Bronze Mallard Rolled
    Cheeks Optional :- Jungle Cock or Sub
    This is a nice fly to tye and fish, a classic pattern thats not so hard to do..

    Good one this David, brings back a few memories. I caught my first trout on the fly with this one almost 40 years ago, a friends granddad gave me a few they were old, faded and very drab with a sleek short wing close to the body. I've never quite been able to recreate the look of those flies, I might have to give it another go!

      Yeh the rolled wing can ber tricky but remember the fish will pull it apart anyways :) so wet fly become dabbler lol Stay Safe

      Just using a Canon 750D with a Macro Lens thats All, will be even better when I get the Attic Windows Fitted and use Natural Daylight :) Glad you like it stay safe Dave
