You know, you are single-handedly, putting Wisconsin on the map … er, wait, it already is … well, you are putting up a giant, neon sign saying, “Welcome, come see our sights, Sightseeing Sally says so!”
This gives me so much joy seeing my town get some recognition!! Every time I'm asked where I'm from I have to another city near me so people get an understanding of the area of Loyal!!
I have ancestors that first settled that area when it was a forested wilderness. Ran a general store too. The big business was lumber mills and they did well, half the towns here had fires that burned them down. My great great grandfather was in the battle of Memphis.
Thank you for putting small town Wisconsin on YT. So many awesome little places nobody would think to take the "long way" instead of major interstate highways
Every time I see one of the closed theatre/movie houses in a video I think of how many still contain the original carbon arc projectors. Thanks for another wonderful video. You look very stylish in your hat and coat combo.
I knew of Loyal,Wisconsin only because my daughter-in-law has a sister who taught Spanish there for a couple years. You can usually tell what buildings were bank and theater building by there design. I knew you were right immediately. Thanks for the enjoyable and entertaining tour.
I just stumbled onto your channel this morning. I love it.I am an 80 yr. old widower living in the upper most NE corner of Md./BOrdering on,PA. and DE. I guess the bldg. IS or WAS a theatre.
I could be loyal to Loyal, easy. Thanks for the tour you two and scratch the kids on the head for me! Stayin tuned and lookout for those road idjits! 👍🤠
I live in loyal! Just wanted to tell you yes that building was a bank. If you get the chance to come back the historical society tells you everything that use to be here😁 come check out corn fest at the end of summer!
Loyal's my hometown - you'll have to come by again the last weekend in August for the Loyal Corn Festival (Boogie & the YoYos plays on Friday night and you get unlimited freshly-steamed corn for two days with the purchase of a $3 button)! There's a few more downtown businesses you could stop at (and try a Cornfest donut at the local bakery!) And the Loyal Auction House is really cool.
Wishing and praying for good health for both of you! I really enjoy your videos. I am happy to see both of you up and about, and hittin' the road with the puppies!
Been awhile. Glad you are posting and the little back and forth between you and Marty is intact! Hope you are feeling well! Wow, you just mentioned Jacumba and the Impossible RR! Love that area. I am thinking of going there soon. Stay safe!😊
Hello Sally and Marty! Important missions are exciting. Doing something at the last minute is my style also. I don't know how many tines been on road trips and been stopped by road work. Keep hydrated. Love the countryside you are going through. Loyal, WI is definitely an unique name. Btw, love your hat ( it has the colors of our house. Interesting how the town got its name. Main street is busier than some towns you have visited. Btw, love Marty's sweatshirt! It looks like I saw an Amish horse driven cart go by in your video. I am very familiar with Red Haters club, since have friends in the local one here. We always love visiting Thrift stores in towns we visit on our trips. That red and green building looks like an old theater. In the town of Auburn near we live is an old tire service on Highway 49 going through the town. Love the Mack School and other historical buildings. I notice the water tower with the town name. There is a couple near me that still have them. Love the old gad pumps. Love your pup! Glad to see you on the road again!
I had an aunt that was a red hatter in Door County. They all came to her funeral in their red hats. Also in Loyal there is Loyal Roth Manufacturing that make some really high quality small implements etc that are sold throughout the country.

Red hatters club. Ha! Had an old lady friend that belonged to that group. She quickly exited after finding out they were just a group of dottering old gossips. Bet Marty was wishing for a ladder. I saw it in his eyes. Hey, might as well before someone else does. Ha 😂😊
Side-note (Marty and I like trains)-- until sometime in the 90s, if one was in the know, you could still purchase tickets to ride the freight trains on the Soo Line Railroad on some lines in Wisconsin. The seat would be in the caboose, but since I was special, I got to ride in the cab of the second locomotive, and thus ran through Shawano, Wisconsin a handful of times. If the Soo Line depot is still there in Shawano, you might be interested to know, that in 1986, it had two agents working this small town depot (just prior to this age of instant communication). They still had an active telegraph line, and again because I was special :), I got to watch and listen, as he sent and received a real telegraph message between there, and Neenah, Wisconsin. I understood, even as a youngster, that this was likely the richest, realest, connection with history, that I would ever have. Thanks for sharing!
Any Wisconsites (or nearby states) fans of the band Airkraft? They're from Eau Claire & toured/performed frequently in SE Iowa starting in '85 while I was in college at Northeast Missouri State U. "Make Believin" was played on the local radio stations, & my friends & I became loyal fans & went to see them perform many times in Bloomfield & Ottumwa IA.
@@warmsunnytoday4535 Hmm, I just looked them up on YT but found a guitar quartet from Italy with the same name - and they're magnificent. So then I did an internet search & found your WI 40 Fingers Band. They must be a very good local band because I see they've got bookings out throughout all of 2024!

Great score on the mantles, btw. Aladdin makes the best oil lamp ever. The older aluminum or clear glass are the cheapest. WAY more light than a regular oil lamp. DO NOT USE paraffin based oil!! It will eventually jam it and ruin it.
If i don't get enough drizzly grey flat country i can go east 40 miles for drizzly grey rolling hills with more cheese shops and Culver's per square mile. On two separate trips in Colorado Some lady asked me if i was from Fargo, I said the movie over exaggerated the accent, she said "you got it good" . The next trip a Hardee's clerk asked me if I was from Wisconsin because he was from Wisconsin so he could tell i wasn't from Colorado. My first trip out west 50 years ago people said i talk funny, i came back almost 2 years later someone said i had a western accent because" hot desert air made my vocal cords lazy "

How old are those lantern mantles? If they were manufactured before 1990 they might be infused with thorium, which is radioactive. Do you have a geiger counter to test them? From what I've read online, most experts say the older mantles are relatively safe if you take precautions. Wear gloves when handling them and wear a mask when burning in new mantles to prevent inhaling any smoke or ash. Etc.
We have lots of Amish who come to town here😁 when I use to work at that Kwik trip the Amish always use to come in and they were always so nice and quite funny!
Loyal, yep the little farming community. The same community that acts like an hoa, neighbors take pictures of your back yard to complain to the city, farm community where no chickens or ducks are allowed, community where police will beat on your door at 945 at night because of possible ordinance violation. No grocery store, high taxes, electric, and water rates. Its not as cute as one thinks, campfires are prohibited also. If your not born and raised here your not welcome.
