- On this episode of Donovan Bailey Running Things, Donovan and Jason Portuondo tell you everything you need to know about the 2024 Paris Olympic track events - who are the players to watch? Discussed in this episode is Noah Lyles running a personal best 9.81, Gabby Thomas running a meet record in London, Kishane Thompson, Akani Simbine, Letsile Tebogo, Erriyon Knighton, Quincy Wilson, Julien Alfred, Dina Asher-Smith, Matthew Hudson-Smith, Oblique Seville, Fred Kerley, Lamont Marcell Jacobs, Andre De Grasse, Sha'Carri Richardson, Shericka Jackson, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Melissa Jefferson, Kenny Bednarek, and others!
Great chemistry between these guys. I had them Donovan Bailey spikes back in ‘98. Spikes were so 🔥, I bought 2 of ‘em from the Eastbay magazine back in my college track days 😂
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great content. Love the analysis Mr. Bailey.
I used to train at York University track in the early 1990s and I used to see you training in your grey Adidas unitards most weekday evenings . Last time I met you was at a club called Fusion in early 1993.I cannot ever convey the pleasant shock I experienced when I saw you win in Goternburg in 1995. Then I stayed up until 3 am Central African Time to see you win in Atlanta. Now that I am back home in Africa, I sometimes coach here in Botswana and I know Letsile Tebogo's coach Dos Mosimanyane and just like with you I have watched with incredulity as Letsile Tebogo go from a promising high school sprinter to where he is now. The world is a small place Mr. Bailey .Very good podcast by the way
Bro, what's the scoop with Letsile? Is he 9.7/19.4 ready?
@@ThunderJuice we think he can .Unfortunately his mum passed away to cancer a couple of months ago. She was a single mum and he was her only child so the bond was close. From a physical standpoint he is ready but the mentality still needs to come. He had his best start and drive phase ever on the weekend but then a lapse in concentration at the 80m mark gave the race to Noah Lyles. If he sorts that out all those times are possible because at practice he is astonishingly fast times wise
@@martindube9886 Letsile needs to remember that Mum is watching and he's doing it for her. Once he taps into that mindset, he's unstoppable.
@@ThunderJuice fingers crossed
Love the Pod cast.🤣🤣
Appreciate you
love the talk and all the horsing around
Thank you for all the great info. will you guys be giving any updates after the 100m prelims or between the 100m semifinal and final?
Julian and Dina train together. Gabby is with another group.
Where can I purchase that poster behind you guys? That is by far my favourite 100m race of all time.
I’m surprised that you did not mention Jamaica for the 4 x 100 men’s relay
Thank you
The Tebogo hype is up there, we shall see 👀
I really appreciate your podcast sirs. If I may, can you put video reviews of the races instead of audio? It'll help the audience follow better.
I'd love to see at least one athlete from an African country make the podium in the 100. I think the last athlete to do that was Frankie Fredricks in Atlanta.
On paper and off paper is 🇯🇲 Kishane Thompson and Oblique Seville in the 100m.
The 100m goes down to who wants it more. Lyles has convinced himself that he will win and the power of the mind is all I’m saying. I think a lot of people root against the US and that’s fine but to not have Shacarri as your favorite is crazy.
The fastest will win. Speed will win. Not mind games not experience , just being the fastest between point A and point B.
Kishane wins by a city block.
What about the Jamaican men’s 4x100? You guys did not mentioned them in the mix😳
Do you think it is strategic that Kishane and Noah have not run against each other at least recently. I mean there is a high level of anticipation and suspense do you think it's just coincidence.
Lyles will win both the 100m and 200m.
Sha'Carri will win the women's 100m.
Shericka will win the women's 200m.
😂😂😂😂
Nah gaby doesn’t train with them but dina, julian and adeleke do
I dont hear u guys mention tia clayton at all. But i can tell u she will be in the finals
Mboma is back. She's unpopular for a lot of reasons but she's been here before
Brap brap we ready....
So I will gooo out in the 10th lane lol and say I have Noah finishing 3rd if not won't medal in the 100m
Could happen...
Remember they have to do rounds those 1 race events don't matter
Lyles will NOT WIN 4 gold medals. In fact he will not win 4 medals.
Good dream though.
Noah Lyles is going to run 9.41 seconds (New WR) in the 100m Final and 18.6-18.7 seconds (New WR) in the 200m Final for the win. Double Gold Medal for Noah Lyles🥇🥇

De’ grasse is a medal 🏅 poacher
I think Noah is way too fast currently for him to do what he did in Tokyo again.
@@ExileRadio
But remember that he has Covid earlier that year or late the previous year so that messed with his training and perhaps overall performance. I really don’t think you can sleep on DeGrasse though man…he’s a fighter to the end
@@wynnetg862 There’s no Doubt that DeGrasse is capable of upping his game on the big occasion. He’s done it a few times before.
I just think that since Tokyo Lyles has improved to a point beyond his capabilities. Sure I think DeGrasse could run a 19.5 PB maybe, but Lyles is unbeaten since Tokyo and I expect him to run at least 19.3 or 19.4 in Paris which would be too quick for the Canadian.
Lyles will win both the 100m & 200m gold.
Sha'Carri will win the women's 100m.
Shericka will win the women's 200m.
@@EightFrancs Agree about Richardson winning the women’s 100m.
Women’s 200m is a close call between Jackson and Thomas for me though. Simply because Jackson doesn’t look anywhere near the shape she was in last season and there’s question marks on whether or not she has an injury.
Lyles will almost certainly win the men’s 200m if he stays healthy.
Men’s 100m is a close call between Lyles, Thompson and Seville. I have Lyles as the slight favourite because he’s proven he can pull it off on the big occasion and he’s in great form at the moment.
Sharicka is obviously not close to her fitness from the last two years . Have you all failed to notice that? Plus with her most recent injury she may not make any final.
Coach Francis announced (2 days ago) that she's fully fit.
All the things Noah said in that interview is not unique to him alone all this is true of Kishane & Oblique as well & remember both as race less than him both are younger & therefore has far more scope for improvement.
Gabby does not train with Julien and Dina and they also have to do rounds that was a one race
100m Prediction:
Noah Lyles🥇: 9.41 (New WR)
Kishane Thompson🥈: 9.80
Fred Kerley🥉: 9.82

If wishes were horses...lol😂😂😂
Lol
9.41 with a legal wind? 😂
Clown
Your username is lit 😂 no wonder you come up with this type of 💩😂😂😂
Noah is a great talent but it's crazy that he is referring to himself as the fastest man this year. I even heard commentators on NBC saying the same thing. It' which is just irresponsible. Folks out here making up their own facts. That said, I can't wait for the showdown! It will be competitive.
I fear for our UK 100metres men will not make the Olympics games 100 metres final.the women have a better chance
Noah LIES
Mens 100m
🥇 Thompson 9.70
🥈 Seville 9.79
🥉 Jacobs 9.81
🎖 Lyles 9.82 (participation medal)
Women's 100m
🥇 Jackson 10.65
🥈 Fraser-Pryce 10.70
🥉 Clayton 10.77
🎖 Richardson 10.78 (participation medal)
☝🏾this person is clearly a USA hater 😂
@@TELL843 Yep..he posted literally the exact same nonsense on Gatlin's podcast minutes ago.
🥇 Lyles 9.7
🥈 Thompson 9.7
🥉 Seville 9.8
🥇 Richardson 10.6
🥈 Alfred 10.7
🥉 Jackson 10.7
There you go, and I’m from the UK so not biased for or against the US or Jamaica. Just giving my honest opinion.
@ExileRadio Lyles has been running professionally for 7 years without dropping a 9.7. You WISH he'll hit that. 🤣😂😅
@fredball8240 And Im'ma keep doing it.
using hours racing terms, is a dead no
Noah not on the podium in the 100M. He will win a medal in the 200.
Noah doesn't win the 100m easily. I avoid easy punchlines
Shericka over shacarri you are kidding shacarri will win if she has a good start shericka has not been looking good and hasn't broken 10.80 so your just guessing sir
@@tsmith9063 I have doubts about Shericka beating Alfred in the 100m final let alone Richardson.
I’m guessing you are referring to 2024 when you say that Sherika ‘has not broken 10.80’? Even if you are, you do know who is Sherika’s coach, right?? So you’ll know that barring unforeseen circumstances, she will break 10.80 at the Olympics
@@wynnetg862 Yes I’m referring to this year only. Her coach has said she’s not in the form she was in last year. I can’t see her going faster than around 10.75 personally next week in Paris.
I think Richardson has a 10.6 in her though and Alfred maybe a 10.7 low PB.
We’ll find out soon enough though.
@ExileRadio when did her coach say she is not in the best shape. I never heard that. That's from TH-camrs based on her last performance
@@wynnetg862I know her coach is Paul Francis and no coach can do anything about an athlete that is having set back this close to the Olympics and yes I am talking about this year sir and last year she was in excellent shape and lost 3 times against shacarri so there you have it
HEY SHA CARRI, ONCE AGAIN THESE GUYS ARE CHOOSING THE JAMAICANS OVER YOU!!!!
EVEN WHEN THAY KNOW SHA CARRI OS THE FASTEST!!!! WOW
USE THIS SHA CARRI AND ROLL!!!!!!
GO SHA CARRI
She was my pick when she won last year's Worlds...
Donovan, do you have an email address?
