    The iverson of boxing, everybody knows hes great but he does not quite get his due. His natural athletic abilities and his precision and skill are unlike anything seen in boxing period.

      Some people don't acknowledge him as the potential GOAT - and it's no surprise seeing as his style ignores half of the 'how to box' rulebook every other boxer follows. Some of these 'technical' people will criticize his technique, because they don't understand the whole dimension from which this guy is fighting from.

      @lucasm3879 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      He always had defensive flaws and they got exposed when his reflexes started to fade just a little. Tarver beat him fair and square, the weight thing is just an excuse all Roy's fans cling to.
      I like Roy, he was very exciting to watch in his prime, but he was never a complete fighter. He relied on his speed and athleticism for his defence. His defensive skills were actually very average.

    Anybody saying Floyd Mayweather is the greatest ever needs to drink a glass of shut the fuck up and do your history. Floyd is a pro ducker. And will only fight opponents that he thinks he can beat. He is obsessed with winning 50 bouts. He turned down a $100 Million payday to take on Manny, he would have won more money in that fight even if he lost to Paq. 50 Cent called Floyd out on it and straight up told people several times that Floyd ducked Manny. And for that reason, he will never be the greatest fighter - not even in his division. People think that Floyd is unstoppable. If you have watched all of his fights, you will know that he has slowed down considerably. Manny could beat him. And I have a feeling that Floyd won't get to that magic number anyways.

    • @mtrevino92
      @mtrevino92 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The main objective in boxing is hit and not be hit. Ali is the G.O.A.T., but look at his life after boxing. Pacquiao turned down $40mil rather than fight Floyd. 50 didn't make comments about Floyd until "after" they had their conflict. What was the motive? I'm not a Mayweather fan. I think its crazy when people don't give him his respect. He's doing what he's suppose to. You line them up. He lay them down. He's beat up all the washed up guys. Now that he's beating the younger guys, he still gets no credit. Would I like to see him fight Pac? Hell yeah. This is a what have you done for me lately world. Lately, Pac hasn't done anything that deserve to be in the ring with Floyd.

    • @lairdriver
      @lairdriver 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are completely wrong about Manny turning down Floyd. It was the other way around. Floyd has never wanted to fight Manny. He created the bullshit steroid excuses until Manny threatened to sue him for libel.
      It's not a matter of him getting respect. He thinks he deserves it. The man talks like a total asshole on TV. At a time when boxing needs proper faces. Sure Floyd is great for money - but he talks like ghetto trash. He is cocky and he hasn't faced a stiff enough challenge. He has fought all the same guys that Manny has.
      Manny completely dominated in his last fight against Algeri. The fact is that if Floyd retires without fighting Manny - his legacy will have a shit stain on it. It will always be that. He is constantly being dogged for that now. He will get dogged for that until the end of his days if he doesn't. You can't cement a legacy if you don't fight your toughest opponent.
      Floyd wanted to run out the clock with Manny and hoped he would retire. Floyd isn't as fast as he used to be either. He has never knocked anyone out. Manny punches far harder then Floyd does. Floyd is afraid of getting hurt and he should be. The fight is going to happen - one of the stipulations Floyd has asked for is a rematch clause.
      Floyd has avoided fighting him because Manny has a fighting style that counters Floyd's defensive style of fighting. Manny isn't afraid to get hit.
      I'd put money on Manny beating Floyd. I don't even think that it would go the distance. Manny will bust Floyd's face open. There is no amount of fancy footwork that can save Floyd. He plays cautious and is a counter puncher. He is a great Boxer..but not a great fighter.
      Floyd would have been eaten alive by Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran or Marvin Hagler - greats that deserve the legacy.
      Floyd is good at not getting hit. But against somebody that is going to hit him hard - over and over again round after round - Floyd has never faced that. Manny has.

    • @mtrevino92
      @mtrevino92 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      lairdriver YOU are wrong, Manny turned down Floyd because he wanted a bigger piece of the purse. If the steroid testing wasn't such a big deal, why didn't Manny do it, if he really wanted the fight. I have no clue of what "ghetto trash" is, I will not comment on that. There's a difference between cocky and confidence. Algeri, really? Let Algeri get in the ring with some seasoned vets before we make him a formidable opponent. I think all boxer should fear getting hurt, being they know they will have a life after boxing. Only a damn fool would not worry about something like that. I'm going to just look over the statement, "Floyd has never knocked anyone out". Manny's reckless style, he would have gotten his ass knocked off several times in the Hearns-Hagler-Duran-Leonard era. That wild style caused him when he ran into Marquez. Marquez has beat Manny 3 times, if you go back and watch those fights. Love it or hate, Mayweather good at what he does. That's all I'm saying, whether it be professional ducker or boxer.

    Freak of nature who never looked the same when he came down from heavyweight.
    Everyone forgets he still beat Tarver in the first fight and once he lost people suddenly had an excuse to bad mouth him. He was going on 35 by then!!!!!

Fought hall of fame and all time greats like James Toney, Bernard Hopkins, mike mccallum and vinny pazienza, made it look easy every time. The dude barely lost rounds in his prime, lightning fast, very powerful and supersmart with amazing footwork and combinations. He was the perfect fighter

Calzaghe was never that fast. Watch Jones' fight against Vinny Pazienza and tell me if that's the same fighter who lost to Calzaghe in 08.

    Roy in my opinion is the best boxer to ever step into a ring. To watch a Roy Jones Jr fight was like watching a artist paint a masterpiece. His speed was on another level and some of the moves he pulled in the ring only Roy could do. His knockouts were unreal. The KO against Serwano will go down as one of the most brutal KO’s of any fighter of all time. If you haven’t seen that one Google it,TH-cam it or whatever you have to do to see it cause it’s unbelievable. The one against Hill were he broke his ribs was vicious as well but the Art Serwano one is crazy

    He was supposed to retire after defeating Ruiz for the heavy weight title. That would've solidified his career. Instead he went back down in weight to fight tarver for a second and third time and got molly whopped. Tried to redeem himself and took a series of losses afterwards. Tarnished legacy for an amazing athlete....one of the goats. Could've retired with Mayweather type status....sadly. 😔
