John, “nabs” must be too old a term for young “whipper-snappers “ like you! Here in eastern Kentucky, that’s all we called peanut butter crackers packed six to a package. The young man mentioned a coke and peanuts too. Don’t know if he ate them separately or together! We use to pour the peanuts in the coke and eat and drink them together. Love your videos and especially look forward to your visits to the general stores.
Thank you for bringing back the true American way to us. I’ve always wanted to move there it just feels right. God bless you all and I plan on stopping in there. I live in Wisconsin, I’ll bring some cheese 😂
Sweet lady. Good people. Your videos remind people of how things used to be and create a longing to have those times back when life wasn't always easy but simpler. Good video John. Didn't want it to end. 😊
Oh my goodness, I've only ever heard about those N&W denim jackets! I used to help an elderly man (an old farmer) and he would talk about how good the denim was in his day 😂 I never ever thought I'd see one! This is so cool & he wasn't lying that denim looks amazing! I want one now lol I'd wear it on my motorcycle ❤
Yep. We called them Nabs here in North Mississippi also. I'm 70 years old and have always referred to them as "Nabs". Love watching this channel because I love the mountains of North Carolina. Come up as often as possible.
It’s very hard to make a short comment when I could actually type an essay on how wonderful touring the old time General Stores. They are one of a kind and not many around. Definitely southern charm and love the accents and terminology that I never heard before. I noticed the exteriors and interiors of this stores, merchandise, shelving, antiques , balogna sandwiches ect. The true heart, spirit, family pride is the people who carry on these stores and genuinely care about their customers whether it be strangers or locals. I live very close to Indiana, Pa. It is the birthplace of the wonderful actor, Jimmy Steward. Perhaps a visit to this quaint little town. The music, clogging, and pant slapping captured my attention immediately. Thank you for sharing and blessings be with you both and Angel as well. ❤
RC was always my favorite cola, and if I love peanuts in a cola, and Nehi is great. Love those Nabs, and I think the name was derived from Nabisco. My favorite Nabs are the peanut butter ones. Love the mountain music and dancing. and of coarse, a good Bologna Sandwich. Jane and Priddy's General store are another winner, John!
Thank you so very much John for everything you do. I absolutely love this video. I hope and pray that these old general stores will be around many more years to come
Thank you both for another great video! Jane is a sweetheart and one who makes you feel like family. This takes me back and reminds me of my hometown in South Carolina. Bless you all
Please do a full video on this car complete with test drive. Should bring back a lot of memories for many. When I was a small kid we had a 55' Oldsmobile Rocket 88 2 door H/T.
I come here for the memories of great old stores, and this is one of them! My memories come out of Hyde County NC, my daddy's people are from there! God bless Dixie! 🙏🇺🇸
Hello John and Jodi, thank you so much for sharing your videos. I was drawn I wanted to let you know that I have just subscribed to your channel and I am really enjoying your videos and content. Even though I am 69 years old, I still appreciate the simple life, and North Carolina is one of my favorite states. I hope you both continue to do what you're doing, and may God keep you both safe.
I've never had a "nab" but I've had cheese crackers 😁 Nab sounds better though......maybe "Nab" came from the national biscuit company??.....today it's Nabisco.
I am from a small town in Ohio, and I had no idea there were more people like me & my family.......kind, God fearing, do anything for anyone kind of people. I can't wait to visit!
This reminds me not to long ago we could go not far to our Lil store. But now we have ta leave ta state 😮 something not right 😢 , thanks for sharing an awesome trip back to my youth.
The last show on Purdy's I told my husband that I would love to move there and work with someone as lovely as Jane!!! I even looked up homes on Zillow for that area. It would take a miracle for us to be able to get over there, but God never runs short of those. Lord willing, I'd be your help!!! ❤❤❤
@@theappalachianchannel Of course!!! I love your channel!!! May all that you do to help promote others come back to you 100-fold and may the blessings of the Lord overtake you and comfort you on every side!! ❤️❤️❤️
I live in North Mississippi and in my neck of the woods we always called them "nabs" also. In 1924, Nabisco introduced a five-cent "peanut sandwich packet," called it a Nab (short for Nabisco) and updated the name to NAB in 1928. What most people call Nabs today are often ToastChee, the signature offering of Charlotte-based Lance
Jane Im so glad I found this channel I live in Ocala Florida and one day my daughter's and I are going to take a trip and meet ya'll and stay for a while Im dieing to have a bologna sandwich and shop!❤ I love ya'll ...Camille 😘❤
He's not kidding. Time flies. I remember looking at old people thinking. I wonder what I'll look like at that age. Well, now I know. I didn't get better looking with time. I still think I'm young and handsome, until the mirror reminds me.
BTW I grew up in Knoxville TN!! But come out of KY! So it's a whole diff world in NC!! Well parts of TN to! But when ur used to Ktown where things r sooo big and sooo much growth education etc it's just a whole diff world in NC and many back or country places!? I can pic him driving that at an open air drive in!!😊😊😊 Lots of old country stores in TN to!! Like Dandridge!
For an interesting story look up Duke's mayonnaise history. It was made by Eugenia Duke who sold sandwiches to soldiers at Ft Sevier in 1917. She sold them for 10 cents each.
