I personally found myself performing well with the Kirishima, (granted I haven't unlocked the APHE yet). I really like its SAP shell, which I think it's pretty good. But yeah as you said, it's more the game, not the ship that's the issue.
I think we get Hiei with the annoucnment of Yamato and Musashi coming. Hiei was basicly the testingground for Yamatos Superstructure Tower. tbh , I cant wait to get her because the Kongo-Class looks rly nice and I will finish my Kongo-Class Collection lel. But yeah... you alrdy said the things .... Kongo-Class should be nowhere on the same BR as Amagi and the others. Kongo-Class should be somewhere around 6.3 - 6.7 .... And I was the Stock Tenessee in this round. Was a blast to play with you , shoot you with Stock HE and miss most of my shots at the end of the round =`D
Kongo at 6.3 is bad because that compresses the lower brs even worse plus the 14inch SAP is monstrous. Fix her decks by properly giving her HTS steel instead of ignoring it and she'll be fine at 6.7. Sure it isn't RCA or RHA, but it damn well is enough to help deflects a lot of these otherwise penetrating shells and HE spam. You can aim center mass at any Kongo class and take 10+% per salvo without even trying and knock out engines and/or turrets all at once.
The Kongo MAYBE was a 7.0 when she was added to the game and there was very few 7.0 ships, but today with much better ships at 7 makes no sense, much less having already 2 kongo class ships on the Japanese tree
well i got mine as a colectors ship as i also got the haruna last time. but also because it means i can skip 2 of the ships in the tech tree no longering having to go down the fuso line. and it is a nice ship to have as you reserch the other better ships like the musu and amargi i think it was called
At least you can get an assist for killing a ship in naval. We still don’t have that for air sim battles. Can hit a ship with multiple bombs, missiles, torpedoes or whatever… only one that gets anything is the one that gets the final kill credit.
Aircraft vs ships is one of the only worthwhile thing about naval battles dude. I'm with you on the decompression but removing planes would be an AWFUL decision
If they added the HTS deck with proper thicknesses instead of just calling it a 25mm steel deck, the Kongo wouldn't be as bad as they are rn. But gaijin in their infinite wisdom heard that it wasn't rha or rca and got the excuse they needed for their hate boner on Japan.
Can't wait to recreate the Guadalcanal battle once they had USS South Dakota and USS Washington and at the exact same BR as IJN Kirishima. The Kongo sisters still being 7.0 is not very smart
The Kongo class is beautiful but it is two steps below the best ships in the game in both damage and resistance. But they share the same BR Naval needs decompression from Br7.0 --> Br7.3 or Br7.7

They're the most bloated with these very unarmored/incomplete ships because they used a variety of different steel types for armor and gaijin only recognizes RHA and RCA as armor. High tensile steel used on the kongos were not recognized as armor and thus eliminated and replaced with the 25mm unarmed deck we see rn
oh yes, BB is currently a disaster as far as the damage model is concerned. At the moment I often use the Blagorodnyy on maps that allow it on 7.0. I destroy more BB with their HE-VT ammunition than with a BB itself....

You are better off playing something like Kuznetsov (6.3, even though it is almost always, like clockwork, uptiered to 7.0) and just shower some lighter targets, including bots (while staying at longer distance), and get 12,000+ per game. Funny thing is I had a few of these matches with good results and then gaijin has turned off the spigot (or server hamster had died) and I just got 5000 damage. Was making holes in multiple enemies and got ZERO assists for the entire match. This is getting ridiculous. So many points not awarded due to this shoddy system. Years later I still get a kill here and there, but it says it's an assist. This game is soo broken.
I spent so much time thinking and I'm disappointed; I hope it improves. I just started researching Kongo, and honestly, I will not crew her; I will immediately go for Mutsu.
@Napalmratte i play mostly 4.7-5.7. On Dec. sales i buy Marat this was my first 6.7 experience. Now i dont play Marat 😅 i play only Kirishima. I'm amused by how much people can endure when they face the enemy head-on, the problem only arises when I start spinning and show my weaknesses 😁I haven't managed to destroy a ship with the first salvo with Marat yet, but with Kirishima almost every game.
Ehhh debatable on mogami. Id take tone or myoko just due to their AA compliment. Maybe if we get Kumano in her 1944 fit then I'd say grab a mogami. Still waiting on the takao class though
@@PerciusLive I feel the Mogami class has more armor especially from the front and back around the ammo storage. You also get better torpedo arcs in the Mogami class. The bad thing about Tone is you want to be moving away and angled to release your torpedos, and all its guns are in the front. Also I think too much aa is a bad thing in war thunder, due to crew loss and repair. It is also rank V to research battleships.

Their shorter fuse time is nice for certain shots. Definitely gotta change up how you aim when you swap between the SAP and AP shells though as the AP has one of the longest fuses of all BB shells in game rn.

One thing I can’t stand in naval is people who sail then reverse then sail forward and do that over and over. I get it’s a tactic that works but it is infuriating.
Kongo class is like sharny u can't ammo rack it but Kongo just doesn't take damage most times it really socks to shoot at unless ur in a 16inch then idk how it is

Naval damage models are just bad for a videogame. We need more damage when hit and more rp and sl rewards for battle. Otherwise naval mode will die soon.
There it is, the spillover. Just so happens that me and someone else were talking about the, increased negativity shall we say about naval in your recent videos. We or at least I was waiting for this. To be honest I've avoided battleships. Just because I know about the pain, that and battleship is gangster until type 93 shows up😅 Anyways, at the moment top tier is a shitshow, so its best to leave it alone for a time. Do something else. One of things that, the someone else pointed out was that its attracting other people from the playerbase who are using to shit on naval outright and pulling players away from the mode outright. So it wouldn't be a bad idea to pull away from what can be best described as the worst part of naval. The part that is a perfect example of how much Gaijin knows about naval warfare in general. They know nothing, even worse they're unteachable.
I was going to keep this ship as a coupon, but I couldn't make myself play one of the 10 tasks. I was actually 30% in, but just tired of this repetitive grind. Very boring and annoying all these years later without nothing new that is interesting to do.
It helps if you were trying to spade a ship. Was doing my fuso and mutsu grind so it went decently fast for the 8 marks, despite forgetting to do the first one
@ThatZenoGuy well the German 6.3s are fun and good. Sturdy Armour with turtlebacks, coalbunkers and thick belts and 20 sec reload is a cruisers Nightmare and other BBs can only excell at range
@ThatZenoGuy mmmh Not Always. Yes, uptier in this compressed meta is often the Case and in all of WT quite brutal BUT you can kill broadsiding Kongos, Alaska and Kronstadt and damage many other BBs while your DPM is unmatched except for Scharnhorst which ist especially nasty vs those ships.

when i saw that this was a kongo class i immidietly knew not to go for it xD. I have the other kongo class and she still struggles.

Kongo was fine at 7.0 when it came out, but they piled new ships on top of it and still kept the 7.0 max BR. Stupid decision after stupid decision...

I believe in the meantime the Kirishima is best used on weekend Naval EC, along with Shimakaze and Mogami class.

Because it isn't german battleship(s) that are favored. It's only Scharnhorst. The rest aren't great at all. Meanwhile every Russian BB is excellent.
