As someone who has struggled with a lot of fear with my writing and have never finished a project, my mom has recently decided to give me a nudge, so to speak. She’s my “editor” and has given me a month to finish my manuscript. This writing retreat actually came at the PERFECT time. I’ll be joining this writing retreat as a second motivator.

So excited for the virtual retreat! It's seriously awesome for a homeschooler who never gets to write with other people 😄

I made a writing alcove in a corner of our apartment. Our living/dining area is L-shaped, so I put my little desk in the corner of the 'L' (facing the wall - if I can see a window from where I'm writing I'd never get ANYTHING done!) and then used a large bookcase, turned with the shelves facing me, as a 'wall' coming off the side of the 'L' shape. I now have a cosy little writing cave, where I can't see much of the rest of the room and nobody can see me unless they peep over the bookcase-wall. I've got a stock of scented candles and my multicoloured-light-up crystal, and all the notes and pieces of my w-i-p are primed and READY to be attacked over June! Looking forward to it!
And... YESS! Thank you! Writing prompts DON'T work - they've never worked for me either, and I thought that made me useless and weird. I feel better now, knowing I'm not alone.

I may have to do battle for the conservatory. Lovely heaters in winter and fan in summer. It is popular.

I wish my sisters were writers too! I’d so love to create a novel! I have an idea too. But they aren’t as passionate as I am tho.
    Love your vids!!!

I have a sister and three brothers. None of them are writers and don't think writing is a thing to even have as a hobby. So you're not alone!
My mom is the only one who supports me and Abbie and Kate! So there will be people that support you too! ❤👍

With this writing retreat, you can have a lot of virtual sisters (and brothers - and... sister-brothers? 'Siblings!') 😊

Good morning Abbie. Good Luck with your writing retreat this year. I am doing better than I was. I had to go to the E.R. but as soon as I recover I will go back to working on my comics as usual.

I think you can come up with an internal conflict based on the writing prompt you find. At least for me, it’s really hard to create an internal conflict without some structure surrounding that (the high stakes, sort of…)

When I was in high school I would write in study hall which was in the computer lab. I always was the first or third person over there.

I feel that what happens decide the characters, not me. So I'm planning only a few step according to what each character decides. I'm no more preparing complete outlines, because my characters always decide to go different way than I wanted :D So I only do inverse outlining in order to know everything that happen and to see "bugs".
Of course I'm planning ahead (world, characters, theme...), but I'm not outlining.

It's cool you chose Pride Month to do the writing retreat.

They can work for some people , however for people such as Kate and Abbie Emmons { and myself } they don't work Most of the time . 📑📚📝♑️✍️🇦🇺🇸🇯

Well saying "writing prompts don't work" implies the don't work for anyone, they should have said "writing prompts don't work for us. This is what we do instead.."

    • @lizanna6390
      @lizanna6390 2 ปีที่แล้ว

They work for a short story in my experience. Or when ur brain is not working so I need to write something quick to get the juices going.
