This is the best British review of the Infiniti Q30 I've seen seen it was introduced.
The magazine's and TH-cam reviews were all scathing and unfair.
Was so refreshing to hear how dull the German brands were. Because that's what they are.
    Thanks for the great review.
Just a shame Infiniti is no longer operating in the UK anymore 😓

Hi Matt. After seeing your review of the Q30 I bought one last week- looks exactly the same including spec. Had loads of BMW’s & Audis in the past & I must say what a great car .. My partner loves driving it too - has real presence on the road & quite rare too. Thanks for the very honest & refreshing take on everyday cars & some not everyday cars ! Best Wishes Simon

I test drove the Q50 S when looking for my last car and was mightily impressed, inside was fantastically finished and comfortable. I didn't end up buying one as I went for another make and even though I'm delighted with my current vehicle I have some moments where I think "What if"
Still on my radar for perhaps my next car.

If any owners have issues with headlight warning lights coming on the dashboard referring to adaptive light failure, just charge the engine battery for 24 hours, this gets rid of the warning light it worked for me with my Infiniti Q30S Sport. Hope that helps some existing and prospective buyers of this car. Great video thanks

Have owned one for nearly 18 months and for the price I paid it's an absolute steal (Infiniti had already announced they were leaving so the dealer was keen to shift stock). Great review as ever, it's not perfect but if you don't care about the badge on the front and want something different it's a great shout. No issues at all so far. Agree rear space isn't great but not a priority for me. And if you're in the north there are some great ex-Infiniti guys who have set up as independent specialists and know the cars inside out if you'd rather not go to Nissan. Definitely check them out before you dismiss them!

I have owned a q30 2.2L diesel for just over a year. Drives well. VERY unique and most people prefer the aesthetics over GLA. I think its great that infiniti pulled out of the UK because it makes the car even more rare and eye catching than it already is. A solid
    7.5/10 from me.

  • @johnmorris2869

Before I bought a 2.2d Intouch Premium just over a year ago, I had done a fair bit of research and looking. Your review convinced me to ditch my ageing c220d and until May of this year I was like a wee pig in clover. I loved the car. I still do. But there is one tale of woe. One evening, my fuel light came on and i headed to the local petrol station. To my annoyance, the fuel filler cap stubbornly refused to open. Fortunately I wasn't quite on fumes, but I managed to get home and then to the dealer the following morning. Long story short, they couldn't get it open without dismantling half of the boot, so decided to force it open and replace the necessary parts.
For weeks I drove around with a screwdriver to help me release the broken cover. The car was sold with a two year premium warranty and boy was I glad. They could replace the actuator for £60 from Mercedes. But Nissan were decidedly unhelpful and could not provide the other parts to replace the filler door. So don't get the warm woolly feeling that you can pick up parts easily. I was fortunate that the dealership, Evans Halshaw in Coatbridge, agreed to take the car back as it was unfit for purpose. I was sad to let the car go, because it really is a good car. Just be warned.

I’ve got the 2.1 Diesel of this car. I was looking for one for a long time, fortunately I bought one from a guy who had almost every available extra fitted when he bought it brand new. Panoramic roof, heated seats, collision warning, lane drift warning, Bose sound system, tinted windows, AWD. It’s fully kitted out to be fair... The only other extra is reverse camera. I have to say, I love it. Quicker than a merc A class, and a lot of people asking questions about it, which you don’t get with a bog standard A class or Audi.

Another great informative video. I took an AWD Q30S for a spin over the weekend and its definitely value for money. Very tempted to buy one however I do have a couple of concerns: parts are expensive to replace and Im reading on forums that parts are hard to find. My local Mercedes mechanic also confirmed exactly the same issues this morning and seriously advised me to steer clear ... I guess this is something to consider prior to buying one?

Come to think about it, I suspect Renault might've had something to do with that. Would be far more profitable for them to have more control of the European market than to give market share to a subsidiary of an alliance partner. And they were calling the shots for Nissan during those years as well

    • @teem5642
      @teem5642 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Sucks man. Idk how this whole thing works but infiniti, just like genesis failed earlier due to big petrol cars really meant for USA Market. Infiniti / Nissan has some really great cars in other markets that beat Mercedes and other German rivals sometimes, but they never put economical engines in them and bring them here, they give us the jukes. Lexus is another culprit for having big engines. Owned a 2003 infiniti m45 & miss that car man

I had one of these. Best car Ive had so far. Had the 2.2d awd S model in Grey. It attracted alot of attention as at the time they were newly out and rare to see. Great to handle as the stance is spot on and comfy too. The DTR and Indicators were so bright and sleek. Gearbox was great unless trying to edge forward slightly. Like he said, never know how much to tap the pedal. Other than that. Great car.
    But
Now they're out of the top pcp and lease deals, they're really common to see nowadays. Especially in car dealers like the car people etc.
Although Nissan have taken over the customer service. I wouldn't expect a local garage to be able to get hold of parts or have confidence in fixing anything that could go wrong.

Hi Matt, I have watched 90% of your videos and might I say I believe you always give a balanced opinion on the cars you review. Spooky but I purchased a 2017 (66 plate) Infinity Q30S 1.5 diesel with 30000 miles on Saturday!, I had done some research and that was the one I was happy with and suited my needs. I have to say I love it, it’s different in looks and not part of the usual German everyday stuff filling our roads. I do love the lines of the car and so far as I have said I love it. As you highlighted the interior finish is exceptional for the money and the seats with the white trim are very comfortable. I found the 2.1 diesel a little noisy compared with the 1.5 so went for that!, anyway I will let you know how the journey goes. Keep up the great videos and all the best, Paul.

Excellent car overall, loaded with a lot of tech, had mine 8 months, top spec City Lux 1.6t petrol, heated seats and sunroof big selling points for me. Comfortable, quiet drive, even at high speeds, luxurious interior, exterior very distinctive looks, perhaps over engineered but looks are subjective and its certainly eye catching. Cheap to run, low insurance group, if driven sensibly can get 40 mpg urban and 50 plus on motorway. Only slight downsides are low roofline can make it feel a little cramped inside and the 1. 6 turbo engine, whilst very quiet and very little turbo lag, isn't the quickest but usually adequate. Scores 8 out of 10 overall and I'm very pleased I got this car.

@@HighPeakAutos Thanks. No problem with the car which was always admired when I parked. But justproved a tad tight to get a bike in. My wife still drives same and she won't change.

Man I love your take on this vehicleYou're a very effective communicator and convey your insight with a lot of thought...Yeah there is a bit of over styling but for me it kinda works...It's different and I like quirkiness...Superb video as always Matt 👍🏻

Very interesting car. The interior is nicely designed, the back of the car is really good looking, the front is ok, size is just right for most use, good engines. I am considering it as my next car.

We had a dealership near me in Glasgow and i visited a few times , liked the quality and the shapes. But this dealer ship was across the road from the big major Glasgow Audi dealership. As you know the the roads are filled with uninspiring Audis , even top enders dont get a side glance. The Infiniti dealership is now gone. Thats a shame as i dont like driving heard cars and why i opted for the new Skoda Octy VRS . You wont see too many of these and i like that, especially since the new Golf GTI looks soo hideous and has fucked the lineage. Good vid as always and always makes my boring locked down night a wee bit brighter when i see a new vid from you.

The FX used to be such a great car, with his large wheels! This Q30, also has a great appearance, but way more distinguished with a lovely luxurious interior including a panoramic roof. Also like you pick the cars that people don't know about or walk by. It could be a replacement for my lexus ct200h, unfortunatly it has no hybrid. Thanks for the great review Matt!

I do prefer it to GLA. However, what I don't prefer (and that holds true to most cars now), are tiny side and rear windows. The only way to see out of it, especially if you're in the back seat is to stare out the windshield and that's always blocked by the tall seat in front of you.
That makes for a very claustrophobic experience.
Talk about styling just for the sake of it.

I've had the 2.2d Premium Tech model(electric seats, bose sound, leather seats, wood detail, plus a few other bits and bobs) for a little over a year and very happy with it, only ever seen 2 other Q30's on the road in that time. Build quality is decent, drive is good without being great/exciting. Little niggles are the pedals seem a touch off set, but that could be me, handbrake is counter intuative push to engage pull to release and even after a year I still get it wrong at times and similar issue with gear box, drive backwards reverse forwards! Had a product recall come through the post (software gear shift indicator issue) and I have to drive 90mins to nearest infiniti centre. If you like the styling and appreciate its rarity its a solid 8/10 for me.

Many thanks again for a comprehensive, refreshingly unbiased review.
I love the styling, the swooping lines and detail. Reminiscent of Mazda in some ways.
You’ve clarified in my mind which one to go for the Q30s 2ltr you’re driving.
I live in Plymouth which I know is miles away but we could still do business as my closest friends live Belper Derbyshire way.
Excellent information and a straight, humorous appraisal

    Hi Matt
Love the styling , except the chrome strip on the boot , get rid of that and wow what a car 🥰🥰🥰🥰
And you get a lot of extras as standard , it is to quote a phrase “the Japanese Mercedes “lol the only problem with them is room in the back is ok if your transporting the krankies ! Great video again mate all the best and good luck in the future 🙏🙏👍
