We have massive prison over crowding, and the same prison estates are hugely underfunded and need a lot of repair/upgrades.
The case verdicts are based on historical cases etc. Finally, Covid bought huge backlogs.
We are also stuck in a never ending cycle of no rehabilitation, followed by reoffending. The system isn’t broken but it’s not far from it.
