Hello and welcome to The Gold Coast Art School channel!
This is PART 2 of a brisk series of drawing exercises. We're going to do these quickly, and I'll show you step-by-step how to draw. You only need 2 minutes for each drawing. They aren't meant to be masterpieces! These 2 minute sketches aim to hone your observation skills, which will make you draw faster over time. They're perfect for beginners, but can be done by all skill levels.
Using objects that are familiar is interesting because it's a battle between what you THINK you know the object looks like, and what your eyes actually see. Unlocking this concept of drawing can be extremely powerful.
One of the things I learn from doing this is how important ANALYSING your drawings is. Even while editing, I can see all kinds of mistakes: my lines, angles, shapes and sizes... so many things are "wrong" and can be improved. And you know what? That's a GOOD THING! Learning through mistakes is the best! So if you're worried about your work, try not to have that negative self-talk. Turn it around and have gratitude for the process and how much it is teaching you. Take time to analyse your drawings and even have another go with all of that in mind. That is one of the keys to drawing faster and improving your artwork.

➤ A little more about The Gold Coast Art School:
Since 1995, we've been teaching creatives how to successfully paint and draw (even when they think they can't!) We have classes for beginners and intermediates, and welcome advanced artists too. Many of our students love coming to our school not only for the depth of knowledge our tutors bring to each session, but for our relaxed and welcoming community feel. Our adult art students usually use oil paints, but we encourage any medium, including acrylics, pastels and watercolours. Check out our social media and website for info, or email/call us any time to chat to Jess and book your spot in our next class!
